I CAN SAY I AM VERY HAPPY

i would like to give an update. i am happy to report that my strikes were removed that were given to me by my VERY belligerent paypal only seller who even accuses me of being a scammer (i am about the furthest thing you could get from being a scammer lol i barely have time to look at a few things and win).

i really really really would NEVER have bought if i knew she was paypal only. i always try and follow the rules.

i do love ebay a lot. you can find great stuff and the majority of people are great. it is just a few who make it SO difficult and make me sad when they make it so hard on those of use who WANT to pay them but they get so OBSESSED with having paypal etc.

and i can understand why people like paypal and use it and i am not knocking their choice, but i think they should also respect my choice NOT to use it and CLEARLY show they are paypal only in their auctions. this would avoid misunderstandings. so i am glad for one time that ebay saw it my way cause i really felt it was fair.

LOTS OF LOVE

EBAY-PAY PAL want your bank account for only one thing IS TO GET YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY WITH THEM NOT NOTIFYING YOU..

From buyers theyl take the money from your account nad then you dont have any protection from bad sellers that dont send you the item.

Then PAY PAL charges the seller a transaction fee plus % fee of the sale which should only be charged to the seller when a buyer pays using CREDIT CARD----NOT WHEN BUYER PAYS FROM BANK ACCOUNT.

We all know when you buy something and pay with a credit card the store you buy the item at pays a credit card company a % fee of the total $$$ of the item bought,

So EBAY--PAY PAL wants to charge those % fees to the seller and they keep it instead of giving it to the credit card company's.

this why as a seller i dont use PAY PAL at all and i stopped buying from online as i use to in the very start when i joined ebay auctions 6 years ago.

with all fees left rigth ebay-pay pal is sending away collectors from buying and selling online

I would have to say its time they changed ther practices and stop looking at more profits for stock brokers.
as i once had stocks in EBAY and i sold them all and dont even consider looking at them agian

Paypal is nobodys PAL.
There is absolutely NO customer service. NONE. ZIP. NIL. I am so tired and frustrated by their computer generated responses.
Some are asking for replys from Amanda. Do you actually believe there is someone named Amanda who is listening, reading, understanding, or caring about your concerns?
I don't think so....
When paypal sided with a (scam)buyer, and returned the funds to them, I could not believe it. Two months after the sale and my account gets a $300.00 negative balance. That money was long ago spent. Only option I could see was to forward the item to Paypal. Looks like they wanted to be the new owners.
PAYPAL is the worst run business I have ever encountered in my life. "Amanda" is no where near this board my friends.

PayPal Feedback and Suggestion Thread

I have several comments re PayPal, many of the same concerns that others have had.... I too resent them wanting my banking info.... in the end, I resorted to opening a separate account with only $10 in it. I don't want them getting their paws on my good account. I prefer to pay with my American Express Air Miles credit card which has a low limit & I use it only for internet purchases. I want the air miles & do NOT want to pay via my bank account. I don't trust PayPal.

I resent that the default payment option is my bank account & that the credit card option is carefully hidden & in small print to make it easy to make a mistake. Very sneaky of them. I should be the one to choose my default payment option, not PayPal.

I also resent that the exchange rate issue with non-US dollar credit cards is still dragging on. My card is in Cdn dollars, but they exchange rate used to convert my US purchases to Cdn dollars is NOT a good one. Is that another way for them to force me to use my bank account?

As far as fast payment, esp using my credit card, there have been no delays with that. And the odd time my pkg didn't arrive, I just had to mention to the seller that I would report the issue to PayPal, & the refund was processed quickly. So there ARE some good reasons for using PayPal, but do they have to be so damn frustrating?

After 15 NSFs back to back because it paypal by default uses your bank account and doesn't tell you right away there are no funds... which is the account i opened for this paypal purpose. (to verify my address).... i had to pay 580$ in nsf fees and they couldn't stop the process!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway what I'm saying is use it to verify your address and the remove it and close or change that bank account and you'll still be verified.

forgive me i wrote this in a hurry.

PayPal Feedback and Suggestion Thread

I am someone who pays my debts, tells no lies, and says please and thankyou.

I too believe that there is no Amanda. I suspect that there is nobody at all, even in senior management.

On April 3rd I got a spoof-looking message saying that my account was restricted. spoof@paypay.com confirmed its ungenuineness. In spite of this, my account when I go into it IS apparently restricted, because of "recent activity". There has been nothing untoward about activity in my account at any time. Somebody wants information of the identity-theft variety. They want a copy of a driver's licence, when I do not drive; and of an utility bill addressed to me, which as a married woman I cannot supply. They want me to fax long-distance, no decent business-like toll-free number. Plus the fact that it ALL smells of fraud.

I have sent a registered letter to senior management voicing my concerns, which start with possible fraud through a possibly hijacked PayPal account (can't a hacker put phishing messages on my account page?), and move on to the fact that there is so little I can buy on Ebay without a working account. Not only is there no reply, there is not even a formal acknowledgement. They have my phone number, my email address, my fax, my postal address: but still nothing.

Wait for it: my registered letter was sent on APRIL 11TH.

I think that PayPal consists of three computers, the first programmed to send out messages at random about "suspicious activity", the second programmed to sent out messages terming the first kind fraudulent, the third programmed to send out replies to queries bearing no relation to the facts of a given case, or to any facts at all. Three computers, no real people, nobody who reads and writes. Really economical to run, just keep the power bills paid and rake in the shekels. One might as well write to Joe Stalin, alive or dead.

"Based on a review of your account and the information received, we show that you have or are related to multiple accounts that have unresolved issues. Before we can lift the limited access on your account, you will need to resolve all outstanding issues with these linked accounts, including bringing any negative balances to zero and resolving all complaints for all linked accounts. The domain names for these accounts
are: thekidwiththegoldenarm@yahoo.com "

This is what PayPal have just said to me in an email. I believe that an attempt at identity theft may be involved. I have and always have had only ONE account with Paypal, and the same goes for Ebay. I have never had a negative balance in either. The email address for both is and always has been THE SAME.

If anyone in senior management had troubled to read my registered letter of 11TH APRIL, it would have been plain to them what had happened. Someone has used my name, or perhaps has legally the same name, and PayPal have mixed us up.

IS ANYONE THERE???

So whaddyou know!

The email address cited in my message above, plus an old and disused password of mine, gets me into a blocked but genuine PayPal account!!!!!!

No, my mistake: the old password doesn't work any better than any combination of characters. I don't get in any further than a warning screen saying that the account is blocked.

I sure hope that PP are going to get to the bottom of this mixup soon. It's pretty worrying to find that a good account can get linked with a bad one when an honest and careful person uses his ONE account in a completely straightforward manner.

ok...

for years i have been watching ebay...and asked friends
to comment...all have mentioned problems with paypal; and so i was warned not to deal with them...period!

however, so it goes, i too was pulled in like any other hunky donkey at the carnival...just like broadway & vegas this tourist was scammed...by the "5 free listings" from
ebay.ca / so when you sign on and do the listings, at the end of all your efforts, when the selling page tells you
to enter the listings...it will only take paypal!

so after all this...and after being informed by friends for the past 3 years not to deal with paypal...i do a one time payment only...the bottom line, it cost me $61.41 to list 3 items...after countless emails and hours trying to get resolution, ebay credits my acct. $14.37..paypal did not respond other then when payment was not confirmed, i was over-indated with too many email payment request...
afterwards their reply was that i would get a full credit within 60 days! YEAH BULL..bla bla the checks in the mail.
[this issue is now with my credit card company / bank]

so, the point being the amount is not very much...but do to possible mail fraud ebay should be concerned that the rcmp and fbi do not get too many calls regarding this bad behavior.

florida is home to many of these wise guys taking small amounts of money from the little guy while they live in multi milllion dollar chateau's in the best part of this wide world....welcome to ciber-scam century & the net

Hey sanchez101786 I'm with you on that. I too, was rocked hard by Paypal. I couldn't believe that a very simple stroke of a key could result in a loss of Money and no course of action.

Funny thing is that the seller who ripped me off, saw no recourse action from Ebay or Paypal. God knows how many more people are being taken by the same seller using multiple different names.

My advice, know the terms and agreement inside out. When they tell you they can't, it's not always the case from a legal perspective.

Aside from my beef with them, they're ok......

Best of luck.

I would rely more on postal insurance versus paypal assurances.

Come on folks!
It's ironic that everyone is always complaining about either Ebay or Paypal.
You would think that more would be done on their end to possibly solve some very simple issues, considering that all the billions made are from the community members. Keep the community happy and keep making money. On the flip side, decreased community involvement results in decreased revenue. No different than a casino. Make $ exploiting gambling behaviours. What a great concept..lol. How much money would a casino make if no one entered to gamble? I think if ebay had any sort of true competition, things would be a tad different.
I honestly think that some voices out there need to be heard by Ebay and Paypal. I've read the boards now and side with many of the comments. Why is it that the same issues keep coming up. Is nothing being done to rectify the issues?

Personally I think either a valid credit card or bank account is sufficient for verification purposes.
When I pay for something through my bank, or deposit something, they don't ask for a credit card; when I pay for something or deposit funds through my credit card, they don't ask for my bank account.

If I am a reputable seller and/or buyer, why would my paypal account be capped at a certain dollar amount? If my bank account or credit card is verified through paypal, why would paypal need another account to verify funds after a certain amount?
Is paypal not confident in their own verification processes?

If payments received through paypal are "instant", then money transfers should also be instant.

My view of paypal is a third party "secured" clearing house for payments, deposits, transfers etc. Once an account is established and "verified" the only limits should be subject to the funds available.

Fees need to be nominal (multiply millions of nominal fees per day and hello!!!!)
Exchange rates need to be on par with banks. There is absolutely no reason for exchange rates to fall below banking rates. This is a transparent service.

Other than these few issues, I'm pretty happy with paypal.

Thanks for listening!
Take Care

Hello, anyone who considers using PayPal should be aware that PayPal is NOT a banking institution and is NOT governed by any banking laws in any country. They have as much right to your personal bank info as your next door neighbour...NONE. After several weeks of poor customer service, lack of concern of fraudulent selling tactics and what seem to be purposefull hurdles and hoops place in front of me by PayPal I have closed my account. They will never touch my finances again. I suggest that PayPal should make one change...they should actually respect their customers themselves instead of just taking money. Eventually everyone will have had the same bitter taste of PayPal and they will fold, the world is only so big Amanda.

Canadian Paypal, try paying for a purchase on Paypal with my Airmiles Amex card and the system wouldn't accept my 3 digit number from the back of the card, the system kept saying I had to use 4 numbers for Amex. So I had to use my master card. I guess the US Amex cards have 4 numbers, but our Canadian Airmiles has 3 only. In the future, is there a way to work around this??

BEWARE of Paypal. It ios a scam. They have debited my account multiple times for the 1 transaction i made through them on Ebay and STILL have not paid the seller for item number 160155435088.
Another warning. The banking system in Canada WILL NOT IN ANY WAY stop paypal from accessing your personal account at will. If you have given paypal an account number CLOSE THAT ACCOUNT as soon as possible. Find an alternative method to do your payments. Most credit card companies insure your usage well over your actuall credit limit in case of fraud so use the card instead of paypal. If this is of concern to you buy a prepaid credit card and only use it for ebay transactions.

Wonder how long before somone deletes this post :?)
