This afternoon, moments after I hit 'pay and continue' on a shipping label, paypal had a fairly substantial hiccup that saw all information associated with my account activity disappear. It still shows a currency balance but that is all. "Please try again." I also had to manually enter my tracking number as well as mark the item Shipped on ebay.
Earlier this week, I got random captcha-type prompts that I have never seen before when logging in to print a label from the Order History menu.
Does this kind of thing cause anyone else apprehension?
I can't help but feel paypal has had an unusual number of glitches lately. And I hope this isn't another case where they tell us weeks later that something untoward has happened....
Site maintenance? It seems like there is never much happening on their boards. Another place to look? Anyone know? I checked ecommebytes and saw nothing about it.

My labels are printing fine today as well, even the international ones with long place names and keyboard characters that don't always easily translate.
My general concern with paypal isn't the shipping component, per se, but the instability of the service as of late. We entrust them with our money and yet I cannot remember the last time the service was so buggy for such an extended period of time and without prior warning.
Any time I go to withdraw funds from my paypal account, I am reminded by paypal that carrying a balance in my paypal account is oh so very convenient when I want to pay a merchant with my paypal balance instead. True, but I'm not comfortable letting paypal hold vasts sums of my money (hah!) for long periods of time.
With my financial institution, I am warned in advance specifically when to expect outages in service and for a specific length of time. As a result, I have more trust in them.
This is an actual bank posts on their website when they're planning site maintenance that affects its users:
We’ll be doing some system maintenance this weekend. The outage times are in Eastern Time, unless otherwise noted, and may change due to unforeseen circumstances. Here’s how it might affect you:

We apologize for any inconvenience.
It's not my intention to start a big hate-on for paypal because I am generally pleased with their service, or at least that which I experience as both a buyer and seller. I don't trust all these recent site issues, however, and fear there is something happening behind the scenes that we're not meant to know about.

...... And I spoke too soon.
Paypal Shipping is being flaky again tonight with not acknowledging the label that has just been purchased, requiring manual upload of information to the paypal order in question, plus to ebay which must be marked manually Shipped with tracking uploaded a second time.....

And no email confirmation from paypal which is irritating to me because I use those for accounting purposes to demonstrate postage costs!

Can't generate labels today, sent report, but no response from PP.

I printed a paypal shipping label this morning where an item was sent via Canada Post International Airmail Small Packet and it 'read' the receipt as a tracking number and showed it as such which is something paypal hasn't done for a very long time, probably more than a year. Got the confirmation email from paypal but none of the information on shipment transferred over to ebay.

Can't do it today, PP system started choking on second page, haven't even got to the "pay" option.

What browser are you using? I was able to print a few labels last night without any problems.

That's odd. My labels don't have a tracking number but they did automatically show as being shipped on ebay.

Now Tracked Packet has disappeared from paypal shipping.

In its place in the drop-down menu we have Small Packet Surface.

"...Canada Post who says, GUESS WHAT?! IT'S A PAYPAL DEFECT."

Pitney. Bowes. You're probably right.
Does anyone have a number for Pitney Bowes? I've worked up a head of steam and would like to blow it on the appropriate party.
Canada Post does, of course, offer Tracked Packet to Portugal as I confirmed on both the website, via Customer Service AND in person as I purchased postage for it so that my buyer would have his order dispatched within the appropriate amount of time. Naturally, without the postage discount offered by paypal shipping, I lost money on postage.
Paypal Shipping claims there is no Tracked Packet service to Portugal.
If Pitney Bowes is the reason I'm losing time and money, I'd love to tell them so.

"Does anyone have a number for Pitney Bowes?"
Pitney Bowes is under contract with eBay-Canada. They answer to eBay-Canada exclusively, not individual eBay members.
It is called "pass the buck".
