Hello everyone, I would like to know if other ebayers are experiencing the same delivery problems as us. We ship a lot of parcels daily and now it’s come to a point that for every 25 parcels shipped 1 goes either missing, shipped to wrong address, even switched. It’s not that we only use Canada Post we use all the other couriers as well. Your info will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

No problems here. Maybe one package lost by FedEx, one by Canada Post, and one misdirected by FedEx, out of 2,000+ shipments last year. We don't use UPS, they were pretty bad. Maybe one out of every hundred would have problems, either lost, travelling all over the USA, or smashed. Never a prblem with damaged shipments with CP or FedEx.

How was a package "switched?" How did you learn something was shipped to the wrong address? Do you drop at the PO, or do you have pick-up? How do you affix your address labels?

One thing we do is we make sure there's nothing outside the box that reveals the contents. Since we hardly ever get anything lost, we also under-declare the value of the contents -- who wants to steal something worth only $20?

Your ratio of lost packages is too high. I'd take a deeper look at what's going on.

Good luck!

Problems with items lost need to know if others are having the same problem

I use CP for most items and FedEx for overnight birthday, or other time-sensitive, needs. I've never had a single problem with non-delivery except one woman who I expect was attempting to defraud me for a sub $10 item. CP/USPS have broken many items however. I suspect that "FRAGILE" means "Throw it harder" in American.

Problems with items lost need to know if others are having the same problem

I just remembered another instance, which I fully reported here, of a supplier attempting to defraud me for 5 returned defective items. In a nutshell:

The supplier claimed he never recieved the items. Parcel tracking indicated that he did. He was not going to account for them. Using unconventional reasoning, garnered from a book titled 'Power vs Force', I wrote that perhaps he has many employees and is therefore unaware of the returned merchandise, that the most evolved thing to do would be to forgive him nonetheless and just buy 5 more items, and so, I ordered 5 more. He responded that indeed an employee had recieved them and he just found them and credited me the 5 items.

So.. I've experienced 2 lost items in 750 and both were likely attempted frauds by the recipients.

I think maybe we see it more in a big picture because we ship out 25 to 30 parcels a day but also we will stop selling expensive electronics on ebay due to this high volume of parcels getting not delivered and getting lost in the system.

We've had a lot of lost parcel maybe 2-3 months ago and decided to switch to UPS. We are now back with both of them... CP and UPS... anything valued under $100 will go CP and anything over $100 will go UPS. Give it a try.

I think it means that in Canadian as well. I was told (by a CP employee - she's management on the sorting floor) NOT to ever label anything fragile.

They delivered the package with something else inside
The package was opened from one side and they put 2 bricks inside.

Another customer who's package went missing, so we shipped out another one while we are waiting 30 days to make a claim and then another 2 weeks to receive the check. Now she writes to me yesterday asking me where my PS2 is, checking on the site she should of received it but all of a sudden it's sitting in a sorting facility, CX117743756CA (now again i am a liar)

Shipped - 10,000+ (First Class + Small Packet)
Lost - 2 (Both to Germany and probably legit claims)

As other stated I alway undervalue on the Customs form, no need to advertise a high value item (and of course my non US buyers appreciate the savings)

CP will tell you that marking your item "Fragile" means nothing as 90% of the handling is done by machines. All items are treated equally at CP.

When I was first getting into shipping and considering UPS, I was looking for Fragile stickers and was told by a packing company that UPS used any package marked "Fragile" as a football.

Over the last 3 years, I have shipped only 1 package by UPS at the request of the Buyer, a total of 45 km and it arrived with several boot marks on the box and one of them smashing a hole into the box and breaking the guitar inside.

With respect to CP in Canada and its handling of items such as DVDs etc. I know for a fact that theft is pretty common amongst CP and Air Canada employees when the items are being shipped across the country.

My son worked for a DVD membership company that shipped out thousands of DVDs per day and they had RCMP investigations into theft which was over 20% of their DVDssent out.

While some theft fell on the laps of a few CP employees (including the Postmaster in a small Northern community who didnt "steal" the DVDs, he just kept them for 2 weeks to watch and had them delivered late), the majority was with Air Canada. They caught parcel handlers stealing several thousand at one location over a 1 month period.

It seems to me when you declare the item going into the US and they know what's inside, it all depends if the person is honest or not. In Canada it seems that the sorting facility in Ontario is where all the parcels go missing or untrackable since they are the ones shipping into the US as well.

Problems with items lost need to know if others are having the same problem

I shipped a cell phone last christmas by CP, it sit on their sorting facility. No one can find it, tried three months tracking it, they even claimed that it could have been delivered. I keep calling and finally they said they caught a virus and they lost their record. Well, two months ago they said they will give me refund since I brought full insurance (after they want to see my original invoice that I got my phone from etc..). I'm out a $600 cell phone and still waiting for my cheque. Like any sensible guy I switched to Purolator, have no problems so far. Can anyone tells me if Fedex's rate are the same as Purolator?

You do know that Canada Post owns Purolator, don't you?

Canada Post owns Purolator. I would suggest to use Fedex ground or even UPS. There is an other company called Dutch post which offers better prices than Canada Post with insurance up to $100 canadian per package(ships around the world and fast service).
Hope this can help you.

It seems to me that yu may have a less-than-honest CP driver. I would try for a bit dropping the packages at a Postal Outlet. If the problems go away, then you have a good idea who the guilty party is.

The problem may still be at the depot, where they do the sorting, but in terms of opportunity, the driver has more of it. He also knows what kind of stuff is inside.

No it's not the driver, it's the sorting facility in Ontario, that's where the problem is and their looking into it now.
