Some complain about Canada Post but some Seller, sheesh!!!

So I win two items. $16.01 US each. Listing says standard international shipping $4.00 Us, each. All orders over $25, shipping $15 US. Seller is in Canada and listing says that he charges QST and GST. I get an invoice for $32.02 + $15.00 + $7.05 for a grand total of $54.07, all in USD.

What bothers me here is paying taxes on USDs. And paying taxes on the combined item and shipping. This is two magazines, it will probably cost $4.00 materials included. And the guy lives 5 minutes from me. And yes I asked for pickup. But got the reply, cash item cost + tax!

So complain about Cpc...

Just so you are aware, and I hate the practice, a lot of Canadian sellers charge for an item to be shipped but also want tracking over a certain amount so your cost eill escalate if over that amount. There is no way Ebay has shipping set up for that, so sellers hide it in the listing description. Many do not make it visible at the top of a listing description but hide it somewhere lower down.

Same way sellers hide in their listings that pages, albums, and other things are not included yet are pictured.

Neither practice, to me, is acceptable but as long as Ebay allows it, it will not change.

All listings have to be read in detail, especially from Canadian sellers because our tracking costs a fortune.

I have been very vocal in the past about how eBay has been making it harder and harder for sellers. And standing more and more behind the buyers. My views have not changed. But have been reinforforced. They need to deal with both these sellers and delinquent buyers on an individual basis. In my case, I called eBay resolution. They are sending him an email. They said not to pay. And will help me if he puts a non paying bidder strike against me. I feel some negative feedback coming his way, if this doesn't get resolved.

Tracking is costly for use by Canadian sellers.

Yet ... on eBay....  Tracking is promoted as a saviour for sellers....

Tracking prevents buyers from lying about the arrival of a parcel....

I have had three (3) lies in the last 2500 parcels. Pretty much a non issue.

I suspect that I've had more than 3 "lies" in the past few years, however, I agree that it doesn't happen as often as some sellers seem to think it will and that in most categories, it probably is a non issue.

"Tracking is costly for use by Canadian sellers"

Only for packages outside of Canada. You can send a parcel relatively cheap within Canada! Not an issue for me.

And yet tracking will not help when post office screws up or buyer claims half items missing. Or if item disappears from sorting center and you have no insurance (not a case in Canada as there is no tracked mail service without insurance). Several times we had item disappear from sorting, buyer got money back, some time later USPS found item and delivered so if buyer would not repay, we would be left with no insurance claim and no money from buyer.

I think tracking will protect me from post office more than from buyer. Even if item says delivered and buyer says they do not have it, most cases are legitimate postal screw-ups. There is much more chance of post hurting seller than buyer.

Just as a follow up. eBay resolution said not to pay the seller and that they would send him an email. I too asked for two separate invoices. to no avail. I then left neg. feedback. That he was able to reply to. He then sent me a message cancelling the transactions. He would rather lose the two sales than send an invoice with the correct shipping cost. Takes all kinds to make up this crazy world!!!
