The conservative candidate didb't show for London gay pride parade yesterday.
Niether did the conservative MP for the riding where the parade ran.
Do they not see the issues involved as human rights instead of gay rights?
07-29-2013 07:07 PM
Maybe they were dressed in Drag and you didn't recognize them..
07-29-2013 07:34 PM
Lurk, would the candidate's name have anything to do with it, Ali Charhbar?
Could it be he would lose more votes by attending than he would gain from the gay community?
07-29-2013 07:44 PM
It is Chibar.
I doubt that he would lose that many votes for attending pride.
All the other candidates were there, so who are they going to vote for?
Are they going to drop him to vote for another who attended pride?
My concern is that he will alienate people like myself are progessive fiscal conservatives who see pride dealing with human rights.
The NDP are only behind the conservatives by 5% in the most recent polls and since this election will be a protest vote it will be anyone but liberal votes this time.

Chahbar is a lost cause and just a Hudak stooge. He actually might win and only because of the Provincial Liberal huge mistakes. The London Free Press (Sun Media) is promoting Chahbar and Hudak like they were the second coming. However if you actually read what either has to say, they say nothing because they have no answers for any major questions. It's Mike Harris all over again.
In the end it will make no difference, Conservative, Liberal, NDP,............next election they will want the person gone, because the names may change but the game stays the same.

Ali failed to clarify his position on Sharia law nor did he want to discuss his wife's position on Israel when on 1280am talk show yesterday. And so I will not be voting Conservative this time around and that's rare!

I heard the show and thought it was disgusting of the Freedom Party to use the race card on Chibar.
Look at the man and his wife. It is obvious that he is a moderate.
He follows his beliefs.
It wasn't too long ago that Marion Boyd an NDP that said she was in favour of the Sharia law.
He said that he was in favour of Canadian law.
That is good enough for me.

what the heck does his wife's views have to do with his??
have we asked Justin what his wife's views are in relation with anything???
last time I checked his WIFE was not running for anything nor will she have a vote on anything.
07-31-2013 03:41 PM
Valve - "And so I will not be voting Conservative this time around"
I am glad to read you have some flexibility and your mind is not frozen. That is a good thing. Life would be so much better if everyone - from all sides - would be willing to change their mind about the political party they will vote for from time to time, based on circumstances.
07-31-2013 04:38 PM
what the heck does his wife's views have to do with his??
If you had heard the show they attacked his wife's beliefs.
They attacked him because of his religious beliefs.
The Freedom Party made the issue regarding his wife.
I have met Bob Metz once. I couldn't leave the room fast enough and would never vote for that party.

Londoners are concerned that Mr. Chahbar’s choice to run as the PC candidate in London West are based not upon any particular sympathy for conservativism, but upon a desire to win a seat – under any party’s banner – in Ontario’s legislature where he might pursue or side with anti-Israeli policies that are frequently associated with anti-Semitic calls for boycotts on Israel, or with sympathies for (or indifference to) those who advocate the implementation of Sharia law. Given the Liberal government’s waffling on bringing Sharia within the scope of Ontario law, voters want certainty from all candidates, including Mr. Chahbar, that they reject Sharia, and that that they do not share the anti-Israeli/anti-Semitic views of Ontario’s radical leftists. This author believes that, particularly given his affiliations, Mr. Chahbar has some explaining to do, and must make it clear that he condemns the political views propounded by his spouse and others in respect of Israel and Sharia.}
BTW I removed the Chahbar sign from my lawn.

nice to know that your husband/wife has to tell you how you feel!!
My wife has her own opinions and I have mine--I do not tell my wife how she should feel on ANY matter and she does not rule me either-we are TWO individual people!!!!
It's a shame not all people believe that females are entitled to their OWN opinion!!!!
07-31-2013 05:49 PM
So you removed his sign from your lawn. I'll bet he's crying buckets about that.
I actually didn't know much about his wife until you mentioned her and I did some research. I was actually surprised! A woman, a human being, with a CONSCIENCE and integrity looking at the TRUTH about the oppression to the Palestinian people........ from day one.

She protests against an oppressive government and now you won't vote for her husband?
Who you going to vote for now?
Coran or the racist Gretzky?
07-31-2013 07:58 PM
"She protests against an oppressive government and now you won't vote for her husband?"
Lurk, you listened to the call in program so you know as well as I. All he had to do was answer the questions satisfactory to those that were calling in and he didn't, he waffled. All he had to do was condem Sharia law in all countries not just Canada and state yes or no if he shared his wife's views on Sharia and Israel. If he had of I would vote for him.

Why does he have to condemn Sharia law?
Do you not see there is a possibility that there are specific aspects of Sharia law that have merit in Canadian society?
He said he supports Canadian laws.
Are our laws perfect and there is no room for improvement?
Gretzy used the race or religious card to create paranoia and you fell for it.
No wonder politicians have so little respect for the voters.
Who are you going to vote for now?
The liberals or the Pers?
The Freedom party is a waste and if you knew what they wanted it would scare you.
07-31-2013 09:25 PM
He needed to do what he needed to do Lurk (clarify) to gain voters support the same as the NDP tried in their front page ad. Play the game to win whatever it takes. West Londoners did not want to hear waffling in his answers related to Sharia and his wife's views and that's what it was. The radio host was remiss in not pinning him down in the interview. Ali may still squeek through but better be more clear in the general election.

Dear Supporter,
While I’m sure this isn’t news to you: Ontario’s provincial debt is out of control. Unfortunately, some people still haven’t got the message.
They don’t know that Ontario’s provincial debt will soon reach $272 billion. Or that this works out to $19,928 for every man, woman and child in our province. And it’s growing by $32.2 million every day!
They don’t know that Dalton McGuinty with his Green Energy Act, ORNGE and eHealth scandals, and costly gas plant moves have saddled this province with ballooning debt.
And they don’t know that Kathleen Wynne has continued on in his footsteps, passing the 6th straight deficit.
That’s why the Canadian Taxpayers Federation is going to re-program our 12-foot long, 6-foot high National Debt Clock, with the horrifying Ontario debt numbers. We’re going to emblazon the debt clock trailer with a giant banner that reads “Ontario’s Provincial Debt” and we’re going to drive it across Ontario throughout August.
Our 28-day tour will cover 4,300 km, from Thunder Bay to St. Catharines; Cornwall to Windsor, and most cities in between.
But we need your help.
Ontario is the largest province in the country and gas, food and hotels aren’t getting any cheaper. Our ambitious tour will cost around $25,000.

What has Sharia law got to do with his wife’s opinion on Israel?
Play the game to win whatever it takes.
Thankfully there are people who do not “play” that game. Neither should politics be a game to be played, even though this may be what some people want……a game….and so far what has this ‘game’ got us? Nothing!
They don’t know that Ontario’s provincial debt will soon reach $272 billion.
Do you know why? I mean besides the mistakes that the Liberals have made….do you know the rest of it?
