What is your time limit for buyer payment?

Just wondering if you sellers have a set time limit for buyer payment or do you decide on a case by case basis?

I usually open UID within 5 to 7 days.

Thanks.

I'm grouchy. And Aberdonian.*

Polite reminder on Day Three, UID on Day Four.

Close on Day Eight.

If the buyer was just slow, she gets polite feedback. Wanna know who are my slow payers? She was thanked for her "payment' and not for her 'prompt payment'.

Here is how I normally do it:
3 days after auction close - send message

5 days after auction close - send another message

7 days after auction close - (if I have not gotten a reply) open UPI case

And if the buyer does not pay after that...block bidder and relist.

Thanks is what I normally do, but I rarely have a non-paying bidder because I use BIN with immediate payment required.

"What is your time limit for buyer payment?"

In general terms I usually wait at least a week or ten days before I send a reminder, two to three weeks before I send a second reminder and about four weeks before I file for non-payment, except for new buyers where I keep it a bit tighter.

My usual time is 5 days. EBay sends an automatic reminder after 2 days. On day 4, I send a reminder saying that "tomorrow is the 5th day since you won/committed to buy the item". On day 5, I open an UID.

Sometimes, I wait longer if the buyer contacted me beforehand. I rarely wait longer than 9-10 days though.

I send a reminder after a week, a second reminder at 3 weeks  and I have automatic NPB filed at the maximum limit I I think that is 32 days, I'd have to check). I get very few NPB...perhaps 2 a year.

I don't send any reminders because I think ebay already automatically sends it. I set it my UID to automatically files it on day 8. I think the "slowest" payment I got the past 2 years was 3 days later and the buyer even messaged me saying she'll pay 3 days later.

I'm case by case (I don't have many since most of my BINs are pay now) .

(1) If the buyer does not contact me, I will send invoice reminders starting on day 3, and on business day 5 open an Unpaid Item case.

(2) If the buyer does contact me regarding a payment delay, I'm quite willing to work out a time frame. The last buyer took 7 business days to pay, but I had given him up to 12 business days to pay.

I reward communication.

I have the automagic process set to open the UID at day 32 I believe.

If someone hasn't paid, usually I will send a reminder after a couple weeks, then I let it ride.

I do not remember the last time I had an unpaid item.... so it was a long time ago (or I'm just "medium-old" and getting forgetful 😉

Completely agree with that method although I don't have UIDs set to automaGic.

Like ricamic, I have very very few unpaid items.

While I do not have many actual 'unpaid items' I do have a ton of 'my three-year-old was shopping on my iPhone while I wasn't looking, sorry) so that's another thing to consider. Like reallynicestamps, I open an UIC as soon as ebay allows me to do so. As a parent, I totally understand kids doing things when mama's back is turned but doing stuff on my iPhone will not ever happen. It is always in my possession, not used as an entertainment device or distraction tool. Famous last words. Just wait.... tomorrow my two-year-old will revise all my listings to sell for one cent OBO.
