Recently I sold an old soft tailed Fishing Lure that was in good condition with the fins firmly attached. I pack all my items very carefully and I think my feedback reflects this. Well, the buyer e-mailed me recently saying they wanted there sending back the item and wanted their money back because the top fin on the lure was not attached and the tail fin was also detached and could not be found in the package. Like I said I package all my items very carefully and I know that this was packed well and nothing was detached or missing. Am I being hooped here?? Any suggestions?? Should I just bite the bullet or stand my ground?? Have never been confronted with this type of problem before.
Thanks for reading.

You do not have any return policy in your TOS. In fact the one I read said all sales final.
Tell the buyer to email pictures, inform him that you have additional pics that you took just before packing with everything in tact and you would like to see exactly what he is referring to as it would be impossible for the tailfin or any other part to come off during shipping.
In 75% of the cases, people back down when you tell them that you have additional pictures of the items taken just before you packed it.

Thanks for your responce shoplineca. I get the feeling that this buyer has changed his mind and now feels that he might have bid to high for this item. I also get the feeling that this person may have just ripped off the fins and is now trying to put one over on me. He said he already mailed the item back to me so I will take a close look at the item when it is received.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Sssshhh, I'm not back. I am an illegal alien.
ruthsdevildog
Is he in the US or Canada?
If he is in the US, advise him that you will be reporting the matter to the US Postmaster (It is a federal offense in the US to suggest damage through deivery if purposely done). Tell him they will inspect the item to determine if it was damaged in transit or purposely destroyed before they will pay any claim.
If he didnt return the item to you with any proof of delivery, deny you received it and let him file a claim ro try to prove otherwise.
PayPal will not honour his claim if he cant prove he returned the item to you.

Hi Malcolm:
He is from the U.S. and maybe that's a good idea reporting to the US Postmaster. As far as telling him that I did not receive the item if infact I do get it back I would have a hard time not being truthful.
Thanks.

If being delivered by courier or some form with Proof of Delivery Service, you can refuse receipt.
If you get it in the mail (regular mail), you dont have to lie, simply never ackowledge that you received it. Avoid confirming receipt. He will still have the burden of proof with PayPal in providing them an online POD, something he cannot do if he sent it via regular mail.
He may have also returned it to you and insured it and intends to file a loss claim. You cant tell what he will do aside from being certain that he is a cheat and liar so nothing would surprise me.
That may be the reason for him telling you that he is returning it.
You can pull a real number on him by ackowledging to the POst Office that you did receive it at the time he files his insurance claim and it is then denied.
Delay doing that until after 30 days from date of sale so he cant file PP claim. I like to see a cheat get caught and get the short end of the stick.
