Why are eBay shipping calculator rates different than Canada Post shipping calculator rates?

I am comparing the shipping rates on eBay and Canada Post. I put the same dimensions of the light packet, same postal code, and weight.

weight: .058kg

dimensions: 24cmX17cmX2cm

Light packet USA $8.89 (eBay)  or Small Packet $10.35 VS Light Packet USA $2.99 (Canada Post) or Small Packet USA $7.80. It does the same thing with shipping within Canada:s

What am I doing wrong here? Should I trust eBay's shipping calculator in this case?

Can anyone specify their shipping calculator method?

PLEASE & THANK YOU! 🙂

I sell to both Canada and the USA.  and had the same troubles as you in the beginning.

If your selling to a customer within Canada you can ship under the "Other Lettermail" category as long as your package size does not exceed 380mm x 270mm x 20mm thick Max weight is 100grams. This size will post for the standard $1.34 stamp ($1.51 CND with tax)  If your shipping within Canada and go directly from eBay or PayPal to make a Canada Post label this price is not offered. I would suggestin your listings just select Canadian shipping as "same price to everyone" and insert ship cost as $1.51CND or $1.50USD

For USA shipments select "Light Packet USA" as long as your package size does not exceed 380mm x 270mm x 20mm thick Max weight 100grams. The total cost for this is $2.99CND. For this select your USA ship method as "Light Packet USA" and price accordingly.

If your at your local post office ask for a copy of the May 2013 Postal Prices for "Canada, U.S.A. and other International Destinations"

It's a gray white fold out that oulines pricing in an easy to follow format.

I just checked the table I made in January and none of those amounts show on it.

The $8.89 should be $2.53 for Light Packet USA at 58 grams.

Sounds like a glitch. Clear your cookies. Close the computer. Go rake some leaves or take a walk. It should then resolve itself.
