Why haven't *YOU* signed up for the Canada Post PowerSeller discount yet?

There seems to be tons of discussion going on in a number of threads regarding shipping discounts.

My question to everyone is that if you're not already getting a good discount, why have you *NOT* signed up for the PS discount with CP yet?

In this post:
http://forums.ebay.ca/thread.jsp?forum=44&thread=100017316&message=100406005#100406005
I showed a sample of my PS discount rate versus the V1 rate...my discount equates to 30% off Venture One for that calculation, and 33.5% off counter rate.

Canada Post also introduced Commercial Pricing levels for Small Packet. They hiked the rates for COUNTER SALES, but left the rates the same for those of us with contracts...effectively, commercial customers get Small Packet discounts now too.

And finally, this takes ZERO work, ZERO negotiation. You go to the PowerSeller homepage, click the link, fill out the form. CP secure e-mails you your information in a few days, and you're off to the races.

Looking back, I don't know why I didn't register earlier, so I'm asking why so many people are on the fence about this?

Maybe we can dedicate this thread to dealing with the PS discount and any related questions.

(If you want me to post more sample shipping quotes, please post package info and postal code and I'll pull up a few more...)

I have been using the Desktop version for a couple of days now. So far so good. Is there any way to get a report or printout showing the credit card charges, and the breakdown of GST etc? I can't seem to find one. Maybe it takes a few days for the information to appear.

Thanks
Rob

Rob that stuff should be in your transmission logs (I think, not home now, can't check to be sure).

The bubble mailers aren't free, nor are any boxes. You get eBay PowerSeller packs (poly bags) and assortments of stickers and thermal labels free.

The charges show up on the manifest, however these may not be accurate as parcels are subject to size and weight audit, so what you see as a charge on your manifest may not be the actual charge....

We have a Canada Post account and get a monthly invoice from them.

OK. maybe that is why it they have not shown up yet. They wait to check size and weight before they bill my card.

Thanks

Has anyone taken advantage of the one month free shipping for powersellers (for parcels, not small packet). That sounds like a good deal - and even if you had a small packet item to mail, you could probably send it expedited or xpresspost instead to get the free shipping!

Hi all, I'm new here and have a question about #85. Have just signed up with Canada Post for powersellers but saw no mention of 1 month free in any info I received from them. Haven't used the OBC yet other than to request some supplies. How do I get the 1 month free - is there some kind of special code or something?

When I log into the powerseller portal, on the left is a link that says "benefits" - click on it, and then on the left under "benefits" is a link "other promotions" - and that's where it says about the one month free shipping.

I realize that, but what's to stop you from sending it expedited or xpresspost to get the free shipping? Just because it qualifies for small packet doesn't mean it has to be sent small packet - might have to use a bigger box, I don't know.

Headhoncho:

This has been discussed a couple of times in the past. The problem with the "Free Shipping" is

1)When you call Canada Post nobody can seem to direct you to someone who knows what it is about, especially how you can be assured that you will get the free month of shipping and; 2)From someone who posted here a few months ago that actually managed to get details, the word is that the free shipping is in the form of a credit given to you only after you've used the EST for a year.

I myself was very excited to hear about the free month of shipping but my enthusiasm was diminished significantly after a week of trying to get information about it from Canada Post. I signed up for the program but my feeling is that I can't trust Canada Post to keep track of something a month in advance let alone a year in advance, so if I see a credit in 10 months I will consider myself extraordinarily lucky. Seeing as 95% of my packages are sent out via Small Packet, the credit won't be worth that much anyways.

Yup, I posted the info in another thread... in a nutshell, CP will average your qualifying EST sales over the year and give you a "free" month as a credit on your account.

Only problem is that as an eBay PowerSeller account, CP forces you to pay for each transaction by credit card. You will never be able to use your "free" month because you cannnot access any other payment method. Seems like a simple thing to fix but good luck trying to find someone at CP that can help you, let alone know what the heck you're talking about when you mention anything about eBay to them. Just another shining example of how on the ball CP is.

Well thanks for letting the air out of THAT balloon! LOL!

Maybe with some pressure we can get it clarified on the page that announces this free shipping.

I've used the online tools several times - it would print out the shipping label, and a customs document that I signed and included in the labelope with the shipping label. (for items leaving Canada, of course).

Today I used the desktop version for the first time - one item shipped within my province, and one going small packet to the U.S. For the Canadian item, it printed out the shipping label, and 3 manifests, and for the U.S. item it printed out the shipping label and 2 manifests. I didn't know what to do with everything (besides putting the label in the labelope) so I took everything to the post office with me. This was their first experience with a customer using the desktop tools, so they called someone to ask what to do - and what they ended up doing was have me sign 2 of the 3 Canadian manifests - then he initialed all 3, and gave me one to keep (the one I didn't sign). For the U.S. ones, he said there should be 3 (only 2 printed out) so he photocopied one, then did the same as was done with the Canadian ones.

So, was everything done correctly?

And, should there have been a customs document printed out like the online tools does, or no?

Only Canadian manifest print 3 copies. They need to keep two and give you one back. US and International they keep one and you get one back.

I have been doing it for 1 1/2 years.....

The post office never took my manifests. They only signed on one copy and returned it to me.

Why so different?
