"Hello widgetc,
After reviewing your eBay account, it appears that you have violated eBay's Duplicate Listings policy. As a result, we've taken the following action:
- Selling privileges have been temporarily restricted. You won't be able to list new items for 7 days. You're also not allowed to register a new account during this time.
- Duplicate item listings we identified have been removed."
I have had few duplicate listing violations lately. The major cause was duplicates created by accident while trying to convert listings that were in U.S. dollars to .com or to c$ on .ca. eBay did not find them all at once.
eBay should have adequate software to catch duplicates which can easily accidentally happen before they ever go up. Not having this is super poor customer service...then blaming the seller because their software is inadequate adds salt to the wound. I also notice that they don't refund my store fees for the 7 day suspension!

eBay (sometimes) will show a pop up warning while you are trying to list a dupe. No, not always. But yes, sometimes.
Is the suspension fair for a first time "offender?" No. Of course not.
Here is a link to duplicate listing scanner for you to check out. It does seems to work pretty well.

How about "sellers should have adequate procedures to avoid listing duplicates".
I understand unintentional duplicates can happen, I've done them myself once or twice but when eBay warned me I made very sure to not let it happen again and doubly sure I didn't have any more currently running.

eBay is selling a service to us sellers and they are the ones that shave the resources to monitor listing activity and make sure duplicates do not go up. Anything less is poor customer service and eBay deserves a suspension! We sellers need to server our customers well and eBay needs to service us well!

Does the took pick up listings are duplicated on different sites?

The other issue is this stems for the no US dollar on .ca policy and the loisy tools they provided. Then they only catch part of the duplicates, time passes, they find more and call it a ne violation! It seems I still have some from back in June or July and have to try to get them gone before they call it a new infraction again.

and...
The Duplicate listing policy

The duplicates were accidentally created editing listings to comply with the Canadian dollar listing changes. I got an email saying dups had been removed. I figured that was it. then time goes by they found some more from back then. Then today the suspension. Now I used the duplicate listing checking tool and found more...they were all old ones from when I did the c$ fixing. I removed them this evening.Had they found them all at once there never would have been an issue.
As far as I am concerned none of us should ever have to worry about duplicating in error. eBay software if properly done should catch them before they go up.
I know if asked by anyone...and I have often been ..about selling on eBay I will tell potential sellers not to start. Too many rules, poor seller support, too many too frequent changes that make us revise listings all the time. It is always something...no US dollar listings on .ca made me change hundreds of listings, soon no active content will make headaches for many, then Turbolister is going and I bet essential features will not be there in spite of promises.

Success in selling on eBay is based on knowing what NOT to do.
Once you know this...... the rest should be easy... perhaps.
The Migration from US to Canadian dollars was a problem... and seems to continue as a problem..... for those that used eBay's tool
I have been watching my listings for potential problems.... ran the Duplicate search
Found some... maybe's... and made the adjustment...
Always aware of what could go wrong...... do catch the odd missing gallery photo... and make an appropriate revision.

I was doing some research and I came across one seller who has 7 separate listings with multiples in each listing for the same thing.
How come nothing ever happens to these sellers who blatantly abuse the duplicate listing policy and you have other sellers that mistakenly list a couple because of the conversions from USD to CND who get suspended.
I run the program to check for duplicate listings all the time just to make sure I am in compliance. The odd time, I find one that I missed, it is sometimes hard when you have over 1,300 listings. Just doesn't seem fair.

I don't trust any of eBay's fancy programs.
When I want to check for duplicates, I just put my listings in alphabetical order and run my eye down them, closing the duplicates as I go.
With 2000 listings that takes about 10 minutes. The 15000 ID takes longer, because more dupes turn up.
And more worrying, I am still seeing Sold items that have apparently relisted themselves.

The duplicate listing scanner is created and maintained by eBay member shipscript who has been providing free tools for eBay members since the early 2000's. It is not an eBay company tool. It is run on shipscript's web site and resources that they pay for. Shipscript's tools are the most well thought out and maintained eBay tools and are free. If any tools for eBay should be trusted and respected, it is shipscript's tools.

Unfortunately, with the new active content rules coming into effect in 2017, some of the tools will not be allowed in eBay listings anymore. Some may be converted to to work without active content using HTML 5 techniques which are not to be restricted as the active content rules are now defined by eBay.
PS Note to mods please do not delete the above link as shipscript tools and web site are well respected by eBay.com USA staff.
