I am looking to purchace a swim ladder for my boat from china, when I click "PURCHACE" it gives me a total bill of 175 bucks ( give or some change). What I'm curious about is will there be Duty and or Customs charges on top of this? Does anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks, Butcher

Try these two links:
http://www.dutycalculator.com/
http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/mobile/est-cal-eng.html
It will give you a rough estimate. Don't forget to add $9.95 for Canada Post handling fees. Every time something is charged by customs, you have to pay a flat fee to Canada Post (assuming the item will be sent by China Post).
You probably won't be able to get an accurate amount, but an estimate should at least give you an idea of how much you'll have to pay if charged.

There will probably be both duty and sales tax (from 5% in Alberta to 15% in New Brunswick) and as mentioned, a $9.95 service fee for brokerage from Canada Post.

thanks for the info... I found the same product 20 bucks cheaper in the USA (much closer then china) and used the Global Shipping program (seller was enrolled) id rather know up front, then have any surprises 🙂
