I bought a bunch of sports cards in one of those "select your card" listings. There were no photos of the cards provided but one generic photo of a package. I knew it was too good to be true but thought "Why not, eBay has a money back guarentee if they're not what they are".

I get the cards and they are not. Looking closely at the seller he has a history of unsatisfied customers.

I file Aug 30th for returning the cards. Seller accepts the next day, reviews my photos, reads my message before replying.

He says cards from that age (1980-81) were usually in the condition I described. I replied that no they were not. I let him know I was a sports card dealer in the 1980's and these were not in the near mint condition stated. He replied back and said he would look for replacements and he would hear from me soon.

He informed eBay he couldn't get a return label to me. He refunded me just over a dollar (I paid over $20) and closes the return ticket.

I decide to wait til today to see if he would message me back. With no contact I attempt a return ticket on the rest of the order (It's multiple units under an umbrella total) but found not only couldn't I file a return ticket with the umbrella total (as I did before) because ebay says I was refunded and the matter closed but I ciouldn't file for the individual units either (there is no option).

How do I get my money back now?

P.S. An important fact to note is while he's selling these cards in "near mint" condition, he's selling graded cards from that year in excellent to near mint in better shape than the non graded cards he sold me.

A bit more info might help. Did he offer the $1 as a partial refund as part of the return? If you accepted it then the return would be closed. I have a feeling that isn't what happened but just want to confirm.

When he accepted the return you should have been given a date that you had to return the cards by. Has that date gone by? If it has, he may have asked eBay to step in and close the case. I didn't think the seller could ask ebay to step in that quickly but I do not know how else he could close the return without refunding in full.What sort of message did you get from eBay when the case closed? What reason did you give for the return?

The seller neither told me of the $1.00 refund nor did I agree to it. He refunded me the dollar and the case was closed the same day. All I wanted to do was return the cards and get a full refund.

But I now see what happened after looking at my purchase orders again. It appears he may have exploited a loophole.

When I opened a case, I thought I opened a case on the order total. In the purchase it gave an order total, it was actually for a single card not for all of them. Perhaps he realized this and took the easy way out of a full refund.
