Creepy seller. Not sure what to do.

I recently bought a batch of stamps that were advertised as "peel & stick" so I thought that they were self-adhesive. It turns out that they are glued onto pieces of "peel & stick" papers. Seeing that the seller had included a note with my order that says "Refund guaranteed if not satisfied, no questions asked" I sent the seller this message:

"Hi, I just received these, thank you, but I don't know how I'm supposed to use them for postage? I thought the stamps were peel & stick in themselves but they're glued to the papers. I can't use them like that on the envelopes I use. Would it be okay to return these to you and get a refund? I apologize for this trouble."

I sent the message at 5 am (4 am in the seller's time zone) because my schedule is weird so I get up really early.

The seller then sent this reply that really creeped me out.

Nothing about this message makes sense to me but the part about the mom putting a rope over a beam and sending herself to heaven and the part about my being refunded after the police are alerted especially creeped me out. Can anyone make any sense of this message and tell me what the seller is trying to say? And what should I do? I'm not comfortable interacting with this seller any further by sending back the stamps but I do want to get a refund.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: Creepy seller. Not sure what to do.

What is the item number of the listing?

Perhaps they did not intend them to be used for postage. Pperhaps he meant peel and stick were the type of stamps in the lot.

It would be nice to be able to read the listing and see what category it was placed in? Most discount postage stamps are in the Mint Stamps category. Some are placed in Lots category.

By the reply the seller seems totally out of it.

File an item not described claim now and be done with it. eBay will refund your under the 30:day guarantee.

Re: Creepy seller. Not sure what to do.

I have seen listings like this, very deceptive title, the listing photos didn't make it clear what was being sold either. I guess if a buyer was mailing boxes they'd work OK provided they're actually mint never hinged. I myself questioned a seller in an Alberta city about a listing like this ... the reply was something about we're "raising money for the kids " we receive donated stamps like this ... I'm paraphrasing but that was the gist of the reply. I declined to purchase but was spammed with messages from them for several weeks afterwards. None contained weird nonsensical content like that though, they were just very badly worded.

I would open a not as described case.

Yes, it's that person from Alberta that's "raising money for the kids" that I'm talking about! He actually just issued me a refund which is pretty generous of him. I still feel unsettled by his message, although even prior to this I thought his vibe was a little odd. Well, at least he keeps his word and has integrity as a seller.

Re: Creepy seller. Not sure what to do.

It was several months ago that I had contact with them, at the time I attempted to gently encourage some changes to their title and listing photo to avoid buyer confusion but I guess that attempt fell on deaf ears. Now months later I imagine they likely had a plethora of buyer complaints, cases, refunds etc.  To this day I still don't know what think of that seller.

Creepy?  A really bad sense of humour.

We are only allowed to raise money for verified charities, eBay verified at that, so he's breaking a pretty important eBay rule there.

Not generous.

Covering his butt.

Reusing soaked off stamps- which is what I think you received - is actually illegal.

A stamp is a receipt for a service not yet performed. Once it is used, it is cancelled to prevent re-use, since the service has been performed.

Not the most elegant sentence I ever wrote....

If - and not having seen the actual wording of the listing it is IF- they were advertised as postage, that is ... fraud?.... theft of Canada Post service?....

Full disclosure- I also sell postage under another ID.
