EBay International Shipping (EIS)

I refuse to buy from any seller that does not offer an alternative to EIS. As a Canadian, I have bought items (not necessarily on EBay) from all over the US. EIS is by far the slowest system I have ever dealt with. For example, I bought an item from a seller in Colorado. The vendor shipped it out in less than 24 hrs. It took USPS a day and a half to get it to Chicago area (Glendale Heights). It sat there for 10 days before it was “processed“ and re-shipped to Toronto, ON Canada. It took another day and a half to get to my door. Total travel time - 3 days. Total time in transit - weeks!! Ouch!
Do better EBay!!

Is eBay doing anything to address these situations. They are being reported regularly now that is the what appears to be default option for US eBay sellers. It has made buying from the US much more difficult, slower and expensive. Also there is no forcast as to when combined shipping will be an option. It was much more appreciated when buyers had choice as to how something was going to be shipped vs told this is the only way.

Thanks,

Hi @lotzofuniquegoodies! I know that our EIS team is constantly looking out how the program is operating overall as well as the speed and cost of shipping items. As of now there is no time table to when the speed and cost will be improved but this is on their radar.

Are there processes in place for EIS sellers to opt out (not use) on a of of case basis? If so have sellers been made aware as to how to do this when it is both beneficial for the buyer and seller.  (Reduced costs. Quicker speed.) Or in those standard cases where buyers would prefer combined shipping. Add to cart should not be a hindrance for buyers and is most likely causing lost sales for sellers. Issues that do not help the buying experience.

Yep. I feel your pain. Same thing happened to me. The International Shipping Program is seriously dysfunctional and has only got worse since it started. I have recieved packages from overseas in regular mail faster. Not just days faster but weeks faster.

I'm shopping less and less from eBay simply because of the International Shipping Program.

I noticed on the conditions for sellers that if they use the GSP EBay will not allow any negative comments left in feedback for sellers I assume they know the service sucks

Given that the seller has no responsibility for the shipping of the item once it reaches the forwarding hub in Illinois, the seller shouldn't have to wear the negative feedback if eIS lets the buyer down.

Agree and I have never done so in the past My contention is that the clause was included after the changes from GSP to this EIS because EBay knew fully well the new service was inferior to the GSP it totally obvious

@Anonymous

It's a glorified seller protection plan vs being a value added service for buyers.

The Global Shipping Program also insulated sellers from negative feedback.

I’ve discovered the shipping company is using in Glendale Practically ever user review is a 1 rating out of five and all of them are comments about the delivery speed and tracking provided I used the older GSP and never experienced what I’m experiencing with the new EIS Seems to be a two bit enterprise I’m thinkiing its some kind of money grab Customer satisfaction is not a priority End of day as long as it arrives at some point and then I’m done

Well I used it and I considered it protection for me too Even if it took time I had confidence I would receive it and never made any comments on feedback left for seller A wee bit of common sense is needed Cheers !

Agree 100 percent but my question is what are the reasons eBay changed to this EIS I’m
Assuming correctly or not it’s all about money and the service seems to be inferior to the old version Check out reviews of this shipping company in Glendale heights you’ll come to know it’s not a one off it’s regular with this shipper

I noticed your comment t was august 2023 Well I can tell you in FEB 2024 it would seem nothing has changed My item travelled and took 8 days from Houston to IL and now it’s sitting at Glendale Nevernind all the tracking updates from usps where the package goes back and forth from the streams post office to hub Gives. Me no confidence at all in this procedure

Re: EBay International Shipping (EIS)

There is a site that tracks parcels including those sent through eIS.

I don't have the link-- does another poster have it?
EBay notoriously has tracking out of sync with the shippers.

There are two takeaways on this,

The first is DON'T WATCH TRACKING

The second is if the last estimated delivery date has passed, open an Item Not Received Claim and get your refund.

If the item turns up after that, eIS don't want it back.

I usually just use global tracking it actually gives you more detail than usps That was the method I used to find out where the mail was going to

Re: EBay International Shipping (EIS)

I've composed myself about EIS. There's no point in ruffling feathers. This brand new program is so backward, eco damaging and counter productive to selling it will naturally self destruct on it's own.
