Getting an ebay representative to speak with

I purchased an item and never received it. The seller told me to wait, but months passed and I did not reveive it. I requested a refund and the seller told me to wait and did not receive anything.

I tried to call ebay xustomer service but the automated system will not let me speak to anyone. It keeps hanging up on me.

I need help getting through and my grievances addressed.

Please help me get through to a live person.

Re: Getting an ebay representative to speak with

You are covered for 30 days from the last estimated date for arrival by eBay's Money Back Guarantee.

While contacting the seller is a courtesy it is not necessary.

The MBG system is automated.

You wanted the Help and Contact section at the bottom of this (and most) eBay pages.

You can also open a dispute from your Purchase History.

If the seller cannot prove Delivery (not shipping, delivery) you will be refunded.

But ....months.

Okay.

Did you pay by Paypal?

The PP Resolution Centre is at the top of your PP account page under Activities.

You have 180 days from payment to open a Not Recieved Dispute.

If the seller cannot prove Delivery (not shipping, delivery) you will be refunded.

If you used a credit card directly, you call the 1-800 number on the back of the card. Card policies differ but many allow chargebacks for six months from purchase.

You really don't want to talk to anyone. That slows down the automated system.

But you can Chat with eBay employees here:

All those phone numbers will be either out of date or scammers.  Don't call random numbers you find on line. It rarely goes well.

@fathostor-0 I purchased an item and never received it. The seller told me to wait, but months passed and I did not reveive it. I requested a refund and the seller told me to wait and did not receive anything.

Why would you wait "months" before pressing the "Item not received" link right next to the item you purchased in your order history?

You press the link and follow the simple-to-read instructions, and if you cannot get a reply that makes sense from the Seller you ask eBay to step in, you never wait months no matter what a Seller (especially Chinese Sellers) says...

...now you only have the options offered by Elsie Tanner @femmefan1946  if the deadlines have not already passed, because as you said this happened months ago.

@brettjet38

Bigotry against Chinese aside, this buyer still attempts to act in good faith. It is known that logistics are impacted due to ongoing covid issues in China, so some latitude is given. I have bought from China before and have also had positive experiences with sellers. This seller took advantage of my good will.

It just so happens (apparently) that Ebay agents cannot be reached on weekends, it seems, but I have managed to reach someone on weekdays. The seller is being investigated and hopefully, downgraded. The Ebay agent reviewed my correspondence with the seller and saw my good will was being taken advantage of.

Re: Getting an ebay representative to speak with

I think a lot of the Chinese sellers are drop shipping from the factories in China. It's likely that they did in fact put the orders in, and the factory probably hasn't been able to fill them (or went out of business, etc). A lot of Chinese sellers also don't appear to fill out the customs forms correctly, so packages can sometimes get held up indefinitely. Members of my family have found that to be the case quite often when ordering from China. It's often just not worth it.

Of course, the item not getting to you is the seller's problem, not yours.

Facts are not Bigotry.

And thanks for your response, you got what is so common from Chinses Sellers, screwed.

And I doubt the eBay rep you spoke to will do anything, they very rarely do...

Re: Getting an ebay representative to speak with

@brettjet38If what you said were true, no one would have anything. The fact is, most manufacturing is 'offshored' (at a slave wage) to China and we rely on them for most of our goods. More often than not, Chinese sellers are honorable.

Ebay could do better to mitigate this issue. They generate billions in revenue from these transactions and could faciltate a little more in these disputes. Especially if it is well documented that at least one party is acting in good faith.

Since Ebay has funds, we can put the screws to them to do more. The questions is, what can we do to get Ebay involved and to ban/punish sellers who act in bad faith? I have a tranaction ID (with regards to my grievance) to follow up with, how is it best to pursue this? The rep said I would hear back in about three days. In the event I hear nothing, what to do?

If you assert Ebay rarely does anything, that needs to change. I live in a big city with a local Ebay office. I can go there and try to (politely) talk to some of the workers in a bid to get heard.
