Global shipping: Customs Cleared....NOW WHAT?

I pay alot of money for this trash and they just drop the ball when it gets to Canada.

Should I take a week off work to babysit my front porch to make sure my item doesn't get stolen while I'm away?

It shows the tracking to Erlanger, Kentucky no problem, then its off to Canada but when it gets here, crickets.

A real company provides tracking so I can be here and retrieve my package.

This is disgusting, EBAY

...eBay does not provide the tracking information, the transport company provides that information to eBay which provides it to you...

Once the carrier(s?) for the Canadian portion of the item’s transit has been determined, there should be a link to that carrier’s website on the Pitney Bowes tracking pages.  Have your "UPAA " tracking code ready:

https://tracking.pb.com

https://parceltracking.pb.com

It's been a while but:

Unison worked this out for buyers who have not yet received their GSP shipment.
TRACKING SYSTEM FOR GSP
I found this thread today while awaiting a shipment. Once I learned that Pitney Bowes was the relevant company, I was able to find my package's tracking info in about 10 seconds.

Step 1: Go to the Pitney Bowes Parcel Tracker page at https://parceltracking.pb.com/app/#/dashboard/

Step 2: Enter your eBay-supplied Global Tracking number (mine began with UPAA...)

Step 3: You will be shown limited tracking info. In my case, only up to the point the package left the USA and entered Canada.

Step 4: Click on the "Track on carrier's website" link at the top right.

Step 5: You will be provided with tracking on the page of the actual shipping company, in my case Canada Post, with a tracking number in THEIR system.

Problem solved! If only eBay would put a link to https://parceltracking.pb.com/app/#/dashboard/ in their shipping emails, this could all be avoided...

In any case, tracking does nothing for the buyer. You are protected by eBay's Money Back Guarantee.

If you have a problem with porch pirates in your neighbourhood, you can sign up for FlexDelivery at the local PO. This is a new service, and, oddly, FREE. Basically the carrier will not leave parcels but a Notice and you can pick up at the PO. Again FREE.

I'm having the exact same issue right now. Stuck in Toronto and says customs cleared. Extremely annoying.

Keep in mind that the last scan may be showing where the item was.  The item may have moved on but the scan information may not have caught up to the tracking database yet.

The scan information hasn't been updated in over a week. Seems unlikely if it was on the move as it would've already been here by now.

Where are you checking your tracking information? The Pitney Bowes sites (see messages 4 and 5) are generally your best bet and usually have a link to the Canadian carrier’s website.

Nosey guy that I am, I checked one of the Pitney Bowes tracking pages, and it shows customs clearance on September 30 and delivery on October 8.  There's also a link to the carrier's website: Apple Express.

There isn't anything there. I don't see the track on carrier link. All I see was just to change the language of the website.

ZOMBIE THREAD FROM OCTOBER 2021

The problem with zombie threads is that the information in them may be out of date and no longer correct.

It is best if you have a problem to start your own thread.

That link doesn’t exist ….. period !
Step 4: Click on the "Track on carrier's website" link at the top right.
No such link anywhere to be found
Just the “cleared customs Toronto”
There is no such link to Canadian carriers supplied in the Pitney Bowes tracking that ends in Toronto

How long ago since you got the “cleared customs Toronto” message?

When the package is handed off to the local delivery company there should be more tracking.

My brother had a package clear customs Toronto on Friday. His expectation (based on past GSP shipments) is for more tracking to show up Tuesday or Wednesday.  The closer to Toronto you are, the faster that additional tracking will show up.

Just out of curiosity, is it imperative that you know where your items have been scanned? I used to be pretty obsessed with tracking my items until I realized that keeping an eye on the tracking doesn't speed up their transit time or guarantee that they're going to get delivered in one piece, amongst other things.  I came to the conclusion that we buyers have been oversold on the usefulness of tracking and that it's more important to keep an eye on the last estimated date of delivery before checking on the tracking information.

If porch piracy is an issue for you, consider using Canada Post's FlexDelivery service.  Another user has confirmed my hypothesis that FlexDelivery forces Global Shipping Program items to go through the postal system once in Canada and you get a free post office box in the process.

Is it eBay GSP policy to just refund the order if it tracks as Cleared Customs but passes the estimated delivery date without an update? I've had this happen with a rare/collectible item and requested a status update stating that I still wanted the item. My order was immediately determined to be lost, cancelled and refunded without any explaination.  I've never had a trusted courier just "lose" an item before and Pitney Bowes is a generally well-respected international corporation - am I just supposed to be okay with this?

We've never seen written GSP policy to this effect, but judging by situations such as yours that have been posted to these discussion boards, it does seem to be Pitney Bowes' modus operandi.

You may be more than "okay with this" if it turns out the item was just delayed in transit and it shows up on your doorstep sometime next week.  There's no mechanism for reimbursing Pitney Bowes DBA the GSP for the refund you got through them, so you'd be left with a moral dilemma instead.
