Gsp super slow

has anyone else noticed GSP being insanely slow from the us to canada lately? i get it’s the holidays and stuff but as an example i ordered an item on the 25th of november 2022, it’s now the 1st of january and i just got it, it cleared customs on the 29th of november and just sat, ordered another item that sat for nearly a month as well before finally starting to move, thankfully neither of the items were super urgently needed but honestly thinking of avoiding items that ship via gsp in the future, not sure how it’s possible to get a package from china to canada in 2 weeks but gsp can’t seem to get an item from toronto to bc in a month, kind of ridiculous, do better ebay

I get the impression that the Global Shipping Center in Kentucky doesn't have the size or the personnel to handle significant surges in volume.  Shipments of items forwarded through the GSP slowed when buyers went on a spree in the early stages of the pandemic, and they slowed during last year's holiday season.  COVID safety measures may also play a role in this slowdown, come to think of it.

The GSP forwards items to about 100 other countries in addition to Canada.  While I suspect shipments to Canada make up the largest proportion of items the GSC handles, you gotta consider that that's potentially a lot items to be handled in a facility that appears to me to be about half the size of a Costco warehouse, if that.

Just out of curiosity, did the delivery time estimate given by eBay take this delay into consideration, or is the shipment now considered late?

The possibly good news for you is that the Global Shipping Program is being phased out by eBay and replaced by a new forwarding/consolidation scheme.  No news yet as to whether buyers are going to be better served by the new program (called simply "eBay International Shipping") but as it has a lot of perks for sellers using it, I'm expecting to run into it frequently once it gets established.

My experience with shipping between the USA and Canada over the past 30+ years is that it takes a good 21 days on average, whichever way the shipment is moving.

Often faster, and certainly increasing our duty -free allowance to $150 and tax-free to $40* has helped the GSP and other couriers a lot, since they do much less "brokerage" these days. USPS /Canada Post and the CBSA didn't have that problem since CBSA sensibly decided early this century that it was stupid to bother assessing and collecting import fees on shipments valued under $100, which the couriers as private businesses could not do.

A CBSA officer even told the Globe and Mail that they did not bother with assessing 93% of the low value imports they handled.

*From the $20Cdn it was from the mid-80s.

How does a complaint about eBay International Shipping relate to the OP’s concerns about the GSP?

I don’t think the OP’s post is about tracking updates or lack thereof.

"has anyone else noticed GSP being insanely slow from the us to canada lately"

GSP = Super slow and poor end of line handling.

Awesome if your experiences have been better. Most have not been.
