Hello, i recently purchased a rare VHS. I was excited to receive it today and was quite happy when i opened it to see it was absolutely pristine for an item released in 1983 so when i looked at the bottom, i saw in small print, it was made in 2018. This is obviously some kind of replica and this was not stated anywhere in the description or the title. Ive been a seller and a buyer for many years now and every now and then ill encounter something strange but the level of sophistication in this replica is beyond anything i could have expected. I purchased this for a whopping $44, not including shipping.

My question is, how was i supposed to know this is a replica?

I appreciate the time you took to read this and thank you for your thoughts on this matter.

It's very possible your seller missed the fine print also. It happens to the best of us between rushing to create a listing or entirely by accident especially with possibly OOAK items. Up to you if you wish to hold the seller responsible. If you are satisfied with your purchase, no harm no foul. If you have concerns, it's a judgement call deciding if you want to either contact the seller (or even to let them know if they have more stock so they don't make the mistake again or file a claim with eBay as NAD. Either way, they may be very happy that you took the time to let them know.

Please note: Opinions will vary as to how to resolve.

Was the 2018 on the cellophane wrapper?

Because that might be some internal code. It looks like prerecorded tapes have have not been made since 2006.
