Item is stuck in Erlanger KY.

I live in Canada and purchased a BGS 10 Population 1 pokemon card and a Supreme Zippo lighter on eBay, both items very valuable. Both got to Erlanger and were never again updated. I tried using other tracking apps and they just get there and disappear. Got great deals on both late at night, this is why a refund seems like half the issue. I would like to know why items get there and then vanish. Quite often, we are spending lots of time to win these auctions... are they being stolen? If so, someone should probably look into who is doing it. Keeps being the rarest items ironically.

what happened to the packages eventually? did everyone receive their package in the end or they just vanished? I'm wondering how could it be a viable business practice if every package they ship ended up being refunded? they would keep losing money in that case wouldn't they?

Re: Item is stuck in Erlanger KY.

My GSP parcels have all arrived. Once they made it to Canada, it was within two to three days. Average time at Erlanger was eight to ten days. I am now finished with GSP shipping. If the seller won’t ship any other way, I don’t purchase.

Well, you did say earlier that "all postal systems" were [something]ed right now.

Just a heads-up that my wife ordered two items from the US that were sent by letter mail and they took over a month to reach her.

Re: Item is stuck in Erlanger KY.

I ordered a fairly expensive item back in June, customs cleared in Erlanger on June 18, the PB site says the item is with a Canadian carrier (directs me to Purolator), on that site the tracking info comes up with nothing, so I contacted them awaiting for a reply.  I tried communicating with the seller twice, once on July 22 the other a day or so back, Ebay has also ruled that I am not eligible for a refund (I personally just want the item).

I am just really disappointed with the situation on Ebay with this program.  It would be nice if the carriers were provided with the tracking numbers, as I only recently found out about thePB parcel tracking website, but even that at the moment doesn't seem to help much as Purolator the linked carrier doesn't even recognize the tracking # provided by Pitney Bowes.

One of the many quirks of the GSP is that if you're making a claim of non-delivery--be it through eBay's Money Back Guarantee program or PayPal's Buyer Protection program--is that you have to be pretty explicit in your claim details that your item was forwarded through the Global Shipping Program or GSP, otherwise the bot scanning your info won't kick the claim up the food chain properly.  Your item will have been considered "delivered" at the Global Shipping Center in Kentucky and your claim won't be successful.

I don't know what the odds are of your receiving your item at this point, but they strike me as pretty long.  I would try filing a non-delivery claim with PayPal (you may need to file two claims, one for the seller's charges, and one for Pitney Bowes' charges, I'm not sure on that) in order to recover your funds.

This is following a UPAxxxxx number that you were given by eBay/GSP? Using this site?

 https://parceltracking.pb.com/app/#/dashboard/

(directs me to Purolator), on that site the tracking info comes up with nothing, so I contacted them awaiting for a reply.

When did you do this?

I tried communicating with the seller twice, once on July 22 the other a day or so back,

Once the seller can show the item is delivered to ErlangerKY and the GSP plant, his responsibility for delivery ends.

The GSP is a Seller Protection service and is taking responsibility* for delivery after that.

Ebay has also ruled that I am not eligible for a refund

If you file an Item Not Received Dispute, without clarifying that the shipping was through the GSP, eBay sees the shipment as delivered.

You can try phoning Customer Service, checking that they clearly understand that you are in Canada and are dealing with a GSP problem and ask for a GSP specialist.

Politely. (I know you will, but we all get frazzled.)

However, you are also covered by Paypal for 180 days from Payment.

Meanwhile.

If your purchase was received by GSP on June 18,  you are about 30 business days and some 45 calendar days from purchase. Which is not horrible by pandemic standards.

Everything is backed up at more than Christmas levels.

Normally 21 calendar days would be enough.

What deadline date did eBay give you for delivery? Since you could open a Dispute, I assume that has passed?

*For a given value of "taking responsibility". Sigh.

Just one claim should be filed, not two.

Re: Item is stuck in Erlanger KY.

My item has been stuck in Elranger for seven days. Hoping it will move soon, it’s nothing special, just a drawing board made of wood. Not sure what the delay is. No updates since arriving in Elranger August 3rd.

Re: Item is stuck in Erlanger KY.

Apparently GPS don't work on Sundays, so they have a six business day week.

If you have received the UPAAxxxxxx number, it's on it's way to Canada or may even have arrived.

You can track that here:

 https://parceltracking.pb.com/app/#/dashboard/

There are delays throughout all the shipping systems. Even Amazon which is very good at convincing customers that everything will arrive overnight, went to 30 day delivery early on in the pandemic.

If you promise 30 days and it takes four days, you look good.

If you promise two days and it takes four days, the customer is furious.

Re: Item is stuck in Erlanger KY.

For example, I just had one parcel at Erlanger GSP untracked for over 20 days, get written off by eBay, as lost. Refunded. I have four more still listed as last scanned at Erlanger. All various lengths of time since last scanned there.

"If you have received the UPAAxxxxxx number, it's on it's way to Canada or may even have arrived."

If the seller uses the GSP that is not correct. You (buyer) get a UPAAXXX number as soon as a seller creates a shipping label, and that doesn't even mean they have shipped it yet. You (at least I have for all my items, unshipped, shipped, and unreceived) get a UPAAxxxxxx number and the seller's local domestic shipper's tracking number, as soon as the seller creates a label. The  UPAAxxxxxx number means nothing in terms of whether or not it has made it to Canada or any other international (non-USA) port of entry.

"Even Amazon which is very good at convincing customers that everything will arrive overnight, went to 30 day delivery"

That is also completely false. Most items do arrive overnight, or exactly as they were said to arrive. At least all my Amazon packages do. And I've received every one of them, for approx a total of 20 in the last month. EBay GSP, on the other hand, is two for two now, undelivered and refunded three still in limbo, and that's within the last 1-1/2 months. That's not convincing, that's doing.

Not false. For non-essentials shipped from amazon.ca warehouses for April, May and early June that is exactly what amazon.ca did.   They added 4 weeks to promised delivery times. Made third party FBA sellers with inventory trapped in amazon warehouses very unhappy.

Amazon.ca is now mostly back to their usual delivery promises.

Re: Item is stuck in Erlanger KY.

did? ok sure, the statement I was addressing was in general, as in that is how amazon is working right now, that's not happening now, and as I said, I get next day nonessential stuff all the time. So it is false, as of right now, and as a general practice of amazon. Right now, eBay GSP is messed up, mostely due to USPS I'm sure.

The complete original sentence (which you trimmed) was "Even Amazon which is very good at convincing customers that everything will arrive overnight, went to 30 day delivery early on in the pandemic."

So it is not false statement, just out of date.

A bit like this thread which was started in June. Things keep changing.

Re: Item is stuck in Erlanger KY.

Also consider that not everything on the Amazon website qualifies for its “Prime” service and next-day shipping.

eBay doesn’t have its own warehousing or fulfillment service, so the comparison between the two sites’ “shipping time” is really a comparison of two different business models.

Re: Item is stuck in Erlanger KY.

Fair enough. I think I was blinded by rage over my recent experience with eBay over the last month and a half. Also, the UPAAxxxxxx statement was wrong and I was on a tare, lol my bad, I'm sorry.

I really believe all this is due to the USPS, right now, and Pitney Bowes handling of prioritization. PB also handles Amazon shipments, and I'm getting all those on time. So one or the other, or both, I'd say. I think eBay's arms-length approach to the GSP is (ie in the hands of PB and USPS) is what is relieving them of responsibility and management of the said operation.
