Hello everyone
I bought an Acer aspire one laptop, brand new in box. In the listing, the shipping carrier is mentioned as USPS Priority. My item isn't getting shipped with gsp,and since it's the worst possible shipping thing to use, I thought maybe it's faster. Fast foward saturday,I get tracking number, but it says on my tracking app DHL E-COMMERCE PRIORITY PARCEL. What is this, and is it faster than gsp. I live in Canada, so I dont know much about this. I also want to know how this dhl thing works,if possible. I asked the seller about additional unwanted unexpected fees, there are none, I paid everything.
1:What is this dhl thing, can somebody please give me an explanation about this service.
2:When am I gonna recieve my laptop, and is it fast?
Dhl tracking says *EN ROUTE TO DHL ECOMMERCE,UNITED STATES,USA*
Thank you everyone for your help.

My understanding is that DHL eCommerce is a sort of hybrid shipping method where the item is handled by DHL to a certain point--probably to a Canadian customs entry point or to a USPS International Sorting Center--and then handed off to the postal system from there.
The transit time is probably going to be comparable to Priority International, and you'll likely have to pay any taxes and duty owing on the item upon receipt. I think my wife had an item sent that way or by its cousin DHL Global Mail and the processing charge at the time was ten bucks Canadian on top of the taxes/duty owing, so pretty much the same as if your laptop were sent by Priority International and customs assessed charges on it.

Well, the shipment was expensive,I paid 56$CAD for it,and I hope that I'm not gonna pay anything. The seller has 100% feedback, and nobody complained about extra unexpected charges. How can I know if i'm gonna pay extra charges? Its not my first time with dhl, last time was a tablet from china, came in 3 days and didnt pay any charges, and no import fees were included on the listing.

I asked the seller about additional unwanted unexpected fees, there are none, I paid everything.
Well, that's adorable.
Wrong, but ....
The good thing about the GSP is that you pay them a fee to cover duty and sales taxes. So when the item arrives, it's yours.
With any other shipper, you will pay Canadian sales taxes on anything valued over $40 and duty on anything valued over $150. And the shipper won't hand it over until you do.
Oh, and the shipper will have a service fee (customs brokerage fee) in addition.
I'm a little vague about this part, but -- it is my understanding that the $40/$150 fee-free rate is only for items manufactured in NAFTA signatories.
So if your laptop was made in China, the duty and tax-free allowance is $20. (We have no free trade agreements with China.)
But if it were made in a country we do have a free trade agreement with (like Chile or Vietnam or Mali) there would only be sales tax.
It's complicated.
But basically, your seller is wrong.

Did it definitely say USPS Priority International? When a seller uses the gsp the listing states ' International Priority Shipping'...note there is no mention of USPS.
It's possible that the seller may be using ebay international standard delivery which means the package first goes to a hub in the US and then is usually transferred to DHL. Have you asked the seller what they used when they printed the label?

True actually... hmm... they might actually have shipped it, but I think the other option is that they created a label for it. No actually,if the label was created,I would only get that information has been sent to USPS,not the current USPS awaiting item thing. So, I think they shipped it, but its **bleep** slow. 56$CAD for shipping, feels like I bought somethin from china, just because of how slow it is. USPS,I hate them.

Actually, I don't think $56 was particularly high, no matter what service is used.
Here is the USPS international rate card.
https://postcalc.usps.com/?country=10440
If you use Size and Shape, you will see the USPS rates.
I used 90210 as origin zipcode, 5lb for weight, and 13x8x5 as dimensions and the cheapest rate I got was $49.45 to BC.
Yep he used ebay international standard, under the tracking number it says ebay global trackibg.
He only used USPS to the central forwarding plant.
And remember, tracking shows the last place it was recorded, not where it actually is.
In any case, tracking is just a headache for buyers who watch it.
You are covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee.
You should have a window for delivery. If that closes before delivery, the Resolution Centre at the bottom of this page will refund you if the seller cannot prove delivery. And that's delivery not shipping.

What does the listing or your purchase confirmation notice say about the estimated delivery time?
05-19-2021 03:33 PM
seller said it should come in early june, tracking app says in the week of the 5th of june, ebay says june 21th,however I do not trust ebay's estimated thing, they are always late.

probably... but I dont think it should take that long litterally to arrive. Well, let's wait till saturday and see if I've got any anwsers from the seller, I hope so. If he shipped it,its probably usps who didnt handle it well, but if he didnt, thats a completely different thing for sure.

Shipping is a mess to some degree pretty much everywhere right now due to COVID-related complications. The last couple of things I ordered--one from Hong Kong, and one from Montreal--both arrived several days after their expected arrival date, and while express shipping wasn't being used, it wasn't the slowest available option for either shipment, either.
For what it's worth, I've used the GSP mostly for cell phone purchases, and two of the three arrived to my semi-remote location on Vancouver Island within two weeks. One took a bit longer and I'm chalking that up to a long weekend being in the way. The cases for those phones, on the other hand, took longer than the GSP in two of those shipments.
International shipping is becoming expensive, as you've found. (The $56 you were charged seems in line for Priority International, given the numbers I plugged into the USPS rate calculator.) Many sellers are and eBay are trying to find less expensive ways to get stuff out of the United States, but the trade-off is longer transit times. You can't have fast and dirt cheap, by the looks of things, and COVID complications are just slowing stuff down even more.
