What's happening to deliveries and tracking?

I understand that there's a pandemic, that this is a busy time of the year, and that BC has had disruption to transport because of the recent flooding, but deliveries seem to have ground to a halt. An Intelcom package has been "In transit with destination carrier" here in Nanaimo as of 25 November and there's no sign of it. No flooding here to hold things up. Other items seem to be in a black hole too.

And what's going on with tracking? I have  items on order from different countries and different carriers. The one thing they have in common is that the tracking gives up after a couple of entries. One item has multiple entries for the same day and then silence for two weeks. And then there's the package that arrived on 19 November, even though the tracking says it's still in Montreal, dated 5 November, which raises the question of how valuable tracking actually is. If there's no record of delivery, could an unscrupulous person keep the item and then file a claim for not having received it?

Intelcom is a terrible delivery company. The only one worse is AppleExpress.

Has the last date of the estimated delivery window passed? If so, go to the Resolution Centre and open a Not Received dispute. If this is a GSP shipment, say so and ask to have a GSP expert work on the refund.

GSP is quite good about refunds, since they have no emotion and a good insurer.

If not, mark the date on your calendar and stop looking at tracking. It won't make anything move faster nor does tracking prevent damage in transit.

The gaps in tracking are likely a result of overworked and undertrained staffing.

Again.

Don't look at tracking.

Tracking is a Seller Protection against unwarranted Not Received claims.

Mark the last date for delivery on your calendar and relax.

Canada Post also offers a new FREE service called Flex Delivery which will hold your shipments at the PO and leave you a Notice about when and where you can pick up. This is useful if you have porch pirates operating in your neighbourhood.

I'm terrible for checking tracking all the time myself (I know it only stresses me out but I can't help myself!)

Especially when, like now, I'm waiting for Christmas gift stuff. I have an item that's been through customs in Vancouver since November 28th and not moved....try as I may I still look everyday.

On a brighter note I have received numerous packages where tracking hadn't even updated and I received them. You are right an unscrupulous person could keep something but I like to think there are more good people than bad. Plus, a lot of times it's just an extended delay in the updating, so if that person tried, they'd look pretty bad when delivery updated later and caught them in their lie.

I received two packages today (Canada Post) on a Sunday, they weren't even showing up anywhere near being delivered on tracking. So right now it is way busier than usual so follow reallynicestamps words of wisdom and "don't look"!

Good to know that Canada Post is doing Sunday deliveries again for the holidays.

Our local post office is undermanned to the extent that the two counter clerks (usually three with another in back) have been allowed to close between 12 and 12:30 to allow them time to eat lunch.

I was shocked to get Sunday delivery today too! Plus they were here at 9:30 am!! (I was still in my jammies when the bell wrang!) I know the line ups for taking something in/dropping off  have been getting pretty long too, will only get longer! Nice your local post office allows them to close to eat lunch! Not everyone can work from home!

Itelcom sure are quick to deliver amazon orders anything else seems to be ignored. My item has been sitting with carrier in destination city (my city) since December 13. Its ridiculous!

I'm starting to think that Intelcom doesn't handle the interprovincial portion of a GSP-forwarded shipment.  You may be looking at some inaccurate or badly "doctored" scan information and your item may actually be somewhere else waiting for a freight truck to take it to your city.
