Will a lost package still arrive?

Hi everyone,

On June 22, I ordered an item from Nebraska to Toronto. The item was supposed to arrive by July 5th but never came. The last update I received was from July 3rd, when the package had arrived with DHL in Canada and cleared customs in Mississauga, ON. It is now July 28th, and the package has not moved. I have already contacted both DHL and Ebay and received a refund. Great. My question is this, will my package still arrive randomly? I just want to know if anyone has had a similiar situation before and what happened. I'm basically just wondering if I need to re-order my item, or if I should keep waiting for the original one to show up.

I can't open a lost item case with DHL, as Ebay is technically the shipper, and the receiver is not authorized to request such cases. The package is supposed to be delivered by another carrier called UNI Express. They have not received the package still. I have checked with a third party parcel tracking site, and they estimated that the package would be delivered between July 20 - July 24. Obviously it didn't arrive during that time, nor have I received any update, so now the parcel tracking site simply shows the original July 5th delivery date. Has DHL lost my package? What usually happens now in this situation?

Re: Will a lost package still arrive?

It might.

But you had only 30 days from the last estimated date for delivery to open an Item Not Received claim with eBay.

So do that now.

The seller likely used eBay International Shipping and so is not responsible for delivery, which was assumed by eIS when it was received at their plant.

I see that you have received your refund.

The item may yet show up, but personally I would assume it will not and re-order.

It's up to you if you order from the same seller or from one who ships directly with USPS/Canada Post.

The advantage to the second is avoiding subcontracted couriers, but you should be aware that Canada Post does have a $9.95 service fee if they have to  process and collect import fees, which is done by eIS when the seller chooses them.

We have a $150 duty free and $40 tax free allowance when importing from the USA.

Re: Will a lost package still arrive?

I opened an Item Not Received case with eBay, which is how I got my refund. The item is relatively rare and unique, so I can't reorder from the same seller unless they happen to have another one somehow. This is the main reason why I'm wondering if the item will still arrive; it will be somewhat of a hassle to find another one. I also don't know if I could find one listed for the same price, so I'm in a bit of a bind.

Re: Will a lost package still arrive?

UniUni is a low level delivery company with mixed track record.

Still might show up.

My brother had a package leave customs at the start of January and disappear. Start of February Canada Post delivered it -- suspect it got lost at the sorting facility from the extra stickers on the package.
