" 'Item has been returned and is enroute to the Sender' "

Howdy, all...  I am wondering about an item I have purchased, but am unable to receive?

Item processed in YEG, on 18 Aug; then out for delivery on 19 Aug.

Item was then "rescheduled for delivery next business day". . .

Finally, on 21 Aug- "Item has been returned and is enroute to the Sender".

I contacted CPC about this, but was told-" 'An item is returned to the sender when one of the following occurs:

a. Insufficient postage.

b. Addressee has moved with no forwarding address.

c. Undeliverable as addressed.

d. Other possible scenarios as indicated on the item.

e. Refused by the addressee. ' "

So... I feel the only options that would apply here, are either C or D. I did contact the seller about this, and am awaiting a response.

Am I going to have to pay again to re-ship? Or should I just seek a refund?

Thanks for your time,

wildcat

Personally I'd think it was insufficient postage, which could include not enough postage for the weight or using a type of shipping (like LetterMail) that is not allowed.

That would be the seller's error, and she should be reshipping with the correct postage as soon as she gets it.

If there is an error in the address, that is probably your error since sellers are required to use the address you supply to Paypal (part of the Seller Protection policy) and that should match the one on eBay.

If you gave the wrong address or missed part of the address (you'd be amazed at how often people forget to add their apartment number), you should pay for the reshipment.

If you decide you want a refund, the seller in the case of an Undeliverable item, is allowed to refund only the selling price and not her cost for shipping.

You can ask the seller for a refund at any time.

You can open an eBay dispute after the delivery window they gave you closes.

There's also the possibility that the shipping software the seller used mangled or truncated the buyer's address, particularly if the software really isn't designed to handle Canadian addresses properly.  This seems to happen every so often with items handled by the Global Shipping Program.

Saskatchewan rural addresses used to be -- interesting.

And many other overseas addresses don't use the usual North American format either.

Sometimes the carrier can work it out. Sometimes the "dead letter office" at the terminal, made up of postal workers who are back from sick leave but can't handle their full duties, make the effort. And sometimes it wanders back to the sender.
