Isn't this a bit of a contradiction since this is the "Christian" thread? Particularly the Philosophy part... ???

Well Christine it depends on how you look at it.
You don't bring up religion in here to any great degree and myself I don't discuss my beliefs much in the Pagan thread either. However.....and this is a big however....there are people who try to promote their religion on a constant basis and when they are disagreed with....their anger arises. As I've said a thousand times in TS...whatever someone believes is fine with me....live it, love it and more power to you.....but, you know as well as I do that there are those that.....if you don't believe as they do then they have said openly in many different ways, that the other person is going to burn for eternity.....or the other person is less of a human being because they do not accept this or that.
The ‘pagans’ (general term) don’t say these things, the Hindus don’t say it and all the mediators don’t say it either. Lets be honest here…..there are some members of one group only who seem to want to convert everyone else. Why? Well some say it’s because they are told to in some ancient scriptures. They are told to go out and constantly promote and sell their beliefs to everyone. Some do it in a gentle way, while others are more blatant about it. Well that’s nice, but frankly I and others don’t want to be hounded with that anymore than we want someone ringing our doorbell at 9am and standing there with a book in their hand. In my case because of what I believe I have been called swine, dust on their shoes and scripture has been posted repeatedly in which it states plainly that people of our beliefs should not only be shunned, but also eliminated. Sure it’s old words and the burnings are over (most places) but who needs to have that thrust in their faces? Now does anyone else from any other belief do this? No. Who likes to hear someone call them swine, or dust, or call for others to shun them? No one I know. Yet these indviduals were not chastised by his friends, instead they gathered around them, praised them and welcomed them with open arms. What’s that say?
As I have said, everyone believe what you believe, but respect others. Neither does this not mean that people can’t have a discussion about religion and still respect each other. It only turns ugly when one person picks up a book and says “it is written here that you are to be treated like this”. Why is that necessary? Why do we have to treat others like that? Those who do should be held not only accountable by those they say these things to, but also by the friends of the person, as opposed to praising them and giving them support to continue.
As for people talking religion in this thread, I don’t think anyone has any problem with that as long as they don’t condemn others for what they believe. However those who have attacked others unjustly elsewhere, have found refuge in here. There is no ‘sanctuary’ in an open forum.
So lets all get along, respect each other and ………….peace.

Who's debating? I merely asked about the apparent contradiction between the Title and the request to not discuss Philosophy.
