Welcome to a place where Christ should be exalted and "Self" should be abased!!

Welcome to a place where the BIBLE can be discussed rationally, intelligently, and positively without unnecessary argument!!

Welcome to a place where prayer can be requested and encouraged!!

Welcome to a place where positive and encouraging thoughts from scripture can be shared in a caring and loving way!!

Welcome to a place away from all the arguments, recriminations, and negativity of the outside world!!

Welcome to a place of rest and safety!!

Welcome to a place where Philippians 2:3 is practiced: "Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves."

Welcome to this Christian thread.

(Please leave all aggression, bitterness, and philosophy outside the door and please wipe your feet before coming inside!!)

A lot of us have lost people that were dear to us around this time of year. Sunday would have been my Mom's 91st birthday (she died in Oct. 1995) and on the 28th of this month, it will be 11 years since my Dad passed away. We never really forget those dear to us that have gone home, but the memories of the times we share with them are more pleasant now, and less painful to dwell on.

I received this entire 'tidbit' as an email this morning. I don't know who penned it so I apologize for not giving credit where credit is due....

WHISPERS

The man whispered, "God, speak to me" and a meadowlark sang.
But, the man did not hear.

So the man yelled, "God, speak to me" and the thunder rolled across the sky.
But, the man did not listen.

The man looked around and said, "God let me see you." And a star shined brightly.
But the man did not see.

And, the man shouted, "God show me a miracle." And, a life was born.
But, the man did not notice.

So, the man cried out in despair, "Touch me God, and let me know you are here." Whereupon, God reached down and touched the man.
But, the man brushed the butterfly away.... and walked on.

I found this to be a great reminder that God is always around us in the little and simple things that we take for granted ... even in our electronic age. So I would like to add one more:

The man cried, "God, I need your help!" And an e-mail arrived reaching out with good news and encouragement.
But, the man deleted it and continued crying .

Don't miss out on a blessing because it isn't packaged the way that you expect.

Have a great week everyone!:-x

The bete noir of deprssion has descended upon me once again. For the last 6 weeks the best I can do is attend Church on Sunday. I have been living in my pajamas, though I must say this cuts down on ironing. It's been 2 months since I have had my hair cut. Everyday I look at my fingernails and wonder when i will get the energy to cut them. a bath would be nice. I am now sleeping 18-20 hours per day. I don't understand why God has made me this way anymore.

S.Brake...sometimes the cobwebs in life, separate us from Gods Way Of Life...If you feel God isnt walking with you any more......Go back to where you lost Him.He never moved.....Sometimes these things happen in a persons life to draw them back to the fold.....Maybe its just the need to Double up on your Prayer life.Memorize 6-7 chapters of The Bible-Reconnect. Have a great Day....

I don't understand why God has made me this way anymore.

Is there a real need to understand "why"? Maybe looking for an answer to "why" keeps you from asking for strength to get through. Maybe if the "why" wasn't what the emphasis was placed on it may get easier for you to enjoy a fuller relationship with your God and Jesus during your down times as well as the up.

Susan, I'm just thinking kind of out loud there. I hope you're feeling better soon. Try to take good care of yourself now, this is when you need it the most. dvd

Evening Folks......Its alright to ask WHY ? Christ did on the CROSS.........Theirs many reasons why God wont answer Prayer........Some Prophets wrestled with God till they got an answer. An sometimes God doesnt give us what we want -or better, till were ready for it.
God could be building you up for something bigger. When you climb that mountain-it will look better at the top.

God brought you this far for a reason..The first 7 chapters of Proverbs comes to mind -what i memorized first from the : AKJVersion of the Bible.Have a good evening.

Thank you for your kind thoughts. They give me courage.
Daisy you are right in that why is not the proper question. I am what I am and I do work very hard at accepting what I am.
Right now I mimic my "good" mood activities. I do all the things that usually make me feel good, even if I don't feel well. Sooner or later I will realize that I am feeling good.
I pray for strength and for the ability to cope, for both myself and others. We all have problems, it's just that everyone's problems vary.
I have learned much from my depressions and am blessed in that regard. I keep my life simple and I have my crafts that give me great fun. I work for myself so I am free to work during the best part of my day. My DH is very supportive. M dog even realizes when I am down and snuggles with me when I sleep.
I have the confidence that this episode will be short.

Gratitiude to all, Susan

Hi Susan -

I came across an interesting short article in Macleans magazine today (Feb 16th, 2009 issue, page 49).

Talks about repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation to treat depression.

"The treatment makes a clicking noise like a woodpecker tapping".

Wondering if you've heard of this (the treatment, not the woodpecker)?
