Greetings all:)

Quiet weekend after getting work caught up from our week away; more to come in preparation for our sojourn to Florida in a few weeks. DH was exceptionally busy at the office, the days just flew by, he said. Freezing rain expected tomorrow, makes me worry about family on the road, but makes me grateful I can work from home, and don't have to navigate icy roads.

Hopefully no one will slide off the steep hill in front of our house over the rock wall and land in our yard (again) ! All the sanding or salting in the world doesn't help those who slam the brakes on midway up or down!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend, hope everyone's all shoveled out by now!

Good afternoon!

We had about 25-30cm of snow. Driveway is all cleaned up (DH has a snow-blower) and we're ready for the freezing rain/rain expected for tomorrow. This weather is like a yo-yo, lol.

Anyone here watching Downton Abbey on PS? I love Maggie Smith, she's a great actress.

Anyway...time to prepare supper.

Already on my first 'break' of a busy day! No freezing rain yet, but had some snow coming down earlier. Thankfully my commuters have gotten a break on the drive in to the city this morning. Have to see what the rest of the day brings.

Looking westward. Well Sherry, get ready for a downpour. Sparky and me got caught in one on our morning exercise trek. Looked OK at first but the black clouds caught up with us.

Another full day ... dentists for Josh and Alex ... one more visit for each and they are done, for the time being anyway. LOL

The printer has to be taken in to Winnipeg for a fix up ... such a nuisance that there is not a closer or more convenient place to get that done. I feel lost without my laser.

It's minus (-10) degrees here with 84% humidity ... it sure has been a humid winter this year! The sun was bright and beautiful today for us.

More soap loaves to cut into bars tomorrow and another order for a (one LOL) 5 gallon pail of lotion. I am always surprised when people order it in by the pail ... do they really do through so much themselves??? Ah well ... it keeps my mind active wondering. LOL

Alex purchased a series of docu/lectures from "the great courses" people. We started watching at least one per day ... of course, that cuts into the day a bit, but ... we tend to watch that type of show on TV anyway. LOL I find it fascintating to listen to the lectures and to hear what other people are thinking. When I was a younger, it was way too expensive to buy University or College course lectures ... it's so much more available now. I'm always surprised that we are not a more educated people when knowledge is so accessible!

Josh has started watching these with us (a bit) and he's quite surprised that (get this) he wasn't taught these things in high school. After all ... he figures there isn't much more to learn. LOL LOL LOL It's so cute to watch the stages that children go through.

Well, time for bed ... Claire thank you again for that garlic bread recipe, I've just put another one together for tomorrow, everyone loves it!

Good morning, everyone 🙂

well Mr. V. we dodged a bullet here; didn't end up with the freezing rain, or any rain, all day - just off and on snow all day, and suddenly the sun shone brightly ( for a little while)!

and I just realized that the system cut off the rest of my post, yesterday; "westward" was in reference to Jannie, LOL! I was speaking of recipes and such, but more on that later!

Jannie, I don't think I want to know what someone does with gallons of lotion, LOL!

Well have a good day ladies, ( where's Roni these days!?) and I wish someone would tell me where they left my indoor watering can while I was away!! One step forward and two steps back wiping up, with this old Tupperware jug!!

Our daughter is visiting from TO on the weekend, can't wait to see my little Ellie. 🙂

Hope y'all had a great Valentine's Day!

Paul's birthday is coming up ... so we have to get a black forest cake made for that.

Made cream soap today ... it takes several weeks before it's really finished ... but it's interesting to make as it is so different from all the other types. Lots of people seem to prefer it for facial soap though and for shaving soap too. So I figured I'd make some this week ... I'm working on a bunch of other items at the same time ... it just seemed like a good idea. LOL

Just stopped by to say hello really.

Sorry folks, I have been extremely busy after a week of training. Just now back on anything but FB.

We're getting rain today. My hunny left early for Freddy-town as they are in the midst of a 45cm snow dump. Easier driving in the daylight.

Jane, still making soap. I jealously guard my last 2 bars...I so love the patch and lavender scrub. Hoping I can buy some more some time.

Good Afternoon!

Black Forest Torte/Cake has been made & decorated ... Josh has been helping with that part ... training for when he goes to culinary school in September. Paul's favourite dinner is on the make. Now just waiting for a bit for it all to finish in the oven and then we eat.

The hard-boiled eggs are still on the stove (for the side salad). Challah is cooling on the rack.

So we feast for Paul's birthday and spend some quality time with him this evening. That's all he gets ... LOL ... tomorrow he goes back to work.

We've decided (as a family) that we will continue the "no gifts on specific days" tradition. What that means is that we actually gift people all year (when they actually want or need something) and we do not worry about gifting otherwise. It gets too silly ... buying something just to buy it doesn't make sense.

Sooooo ... talk later!
