So I transferred my banking over from RBC to Tangerine thinking I made sure nothing was linked but forgot about eBay. Tried to simply connect my Tangerine account and was met with "bank not supported. please add another account". I dont have another account. I've spent tons of time on here browsing solutions and see as early as a few weeks ago canadians mentioning tangerine is fine. And before anyone asks:
-Yes its a chequing account
-Yes my names and addresses match exactly
-Yes its a CAD account and I'm trying to be paid in CAD
After speaking with 5 eBay payment reps 2 of them have confirmed that Tangerine is no longer a supported bank and is on a list of "unsupported routing and transit numbers". The only option I've been provided is to open a new bank account. When I asked what happens to my money if I don't I'm told "well it would sit there until you do because we can't issue it anywhere". As if I don't have a properly linked paypal or Mastercard. The other three told me that "there should be no issue". This company is the devil and I can't wait to get its greedy little claws out of me.

CIBC should work as an accepted bank, there must be another issue. I've used CIBC with no problems since I switched to Managed Payments in February 2021.

Sadly or unfortunately before a seller signs up for managed payments and ebay requests your banking information there is no list of approved banks. Just the following. Might be an idea to add to the Managed Payments Help Page.
To verify your bank account, we'll need:
When verifying your account, if your bank is available in the Add a bank account list, you can select it and log in directly with your bank credentials. This is the fastest way to verify your chequing account.
That would be a helpful addition to prevent these types of problems in the future. It's been awhile for me but truly do not remember seeing an improved list or a way to log in directly to my bank account when I registered. Just provide info. No appropriate message of "we will confirm once everything is complete".

It looks as though you're being pushed further into the .com registration process for Managed Payments rather than being directed somewhere on the .ca site.

@hitech007 yeah ebay needs to inform their helpdesk to stop requesting users open new bank accounts. I had to tell the rep we knew what the problem was and to open a support ticket multiple times. The last time I sternly said he was wrong and he needed to open a ticket which he finally did. One person in this thread tried 3 different banks. The problem is legacy accounts created on ebay.com rather than ebay.ca are routing us for US accounts causing the verification to fail.

EBay has no chat agents in India. The Chat people are eBay employees, mostly based in the USA, although some may be of Indian descent.
Some of the phone people are in the Philippines, an advantage in my opinion, because they are more likely than Americans to realize that Canada is a sovereign nation and not a small town in Wyoming.
If you are talking to someone from India, you are not talking to eBay. Where did you get the link for that agent? Most of the numbers you find on Google are scammers.
If you have a Paypal account, you gave them your bank info 23 years ago when you signed up.

I use the help button on the ebay site. Every agent I chatted with has an Indian name, so I assumed the level 1 helpdesk was outsourced to India like most companies. In general I find them pretty good, and don't fault them for this. They can only follow the solutions they are given, and this is an outside the box issue.
Any update on this issue?

Srill haven't heard anything from ebay. So frustrating.

Hi Devon , I just want to confirm that managed payments is trying to fix the problem for these Canadian sellers who can not register for MP. Something in the system has obviously changed recently as I know sellers who registered on .com before .ca existed and they were able to sign up with MP last year without ANY problems. And as I said previously Tyler confirmed that .com legacy users woukd be able to use MP on their original ID's.
Are they actively trying to fix this?

Hi @pjcdn2005! I can share this feedback with our payments team. I did reach out to the Managed Payments team on this and they did say as of now any seller that is registering with managed payments would need to have a seller account that matches their site ID as well as the location of their bank. So .com sellers would need to have a US bank and .ca sellers would need a Canadian bank. If a seller is registered on .com but is located in Canada, they would need to find a Canadian bank that converts USD to CAD in order for it to be used with managed payments.

devon@ebay Sorry, but this is a ridiculous solution. I do all of my business in Can $. Why would my payouts be in US$? This would entail ebay converting my payouts from Can to US, sending them to my bank who then converts it from US$ to Can$. Even if I could open an account that would do this I would lose out on fees and exchange rate fluctuations. There's got to be a way to migrate accounts from .com to .ca Can we please get this issue escalated?

I'm having this exact same issue using an RBC cheque account, I have spent hours talking to multiple support agents and they offer the same information each time. My circumstances are the same as yours except I'm not using Tangerine, I'm using an RBC account.

Hi @mephistopheles93! I can make sure to have this feedback shared with the correct teams.

I am sorry devon@ebay but I don't get a warm fuzzy feeling that the dev teams are taking the issue seriously. We need to get this run higher up the chain to management. It's affecting multiple people preventing them from receiving payments. Your helpdesk is telling people to open new bank accounts which will do nothing but waste time and cause frustration. At this point I am beginning to think the only remedy is going to be legal action. Does ebay really want the negative PR from this?

Anyone have experience with class action lawsuits? I am going to reach out to these guys https://www.clg.org/Class-Action/Our-Firm

eBay doesn't care it seems. Instead of any help at all, I just keep getting emails telling me to add my chequing account info and it's something that "I need to fix" and if I don't, further restrictions will apply. It's awful.
"Your payouts will be on hold until you fix this. Please do this by 2022-10-24 to get your account back in good standing."

I contacted ebay on twitter. Supposedly they are looking into it, but I am not confident it will get fixed.

I'm the latest "legacy" user (who signed up in the late 90's, probably on ebay.com as a Canadian user) who finally got back into selling on eBay after many years away, only to hit the brick wall of not being able to get my payments. That led me to find this discussion.
Needless to say, my experience with Google Help Chat was less than satisfying. As someone who spent some years in tech support, I would never have tolerated the sloppy (and incorrect) answers they are handing out. They basically reiterated to me what I already knew, and told me to create a new Bank Account. I've already tried with my current RBC and Simplii accounts, and both will not verify, because the verification process is done on ebay.com, not ebay.ca.
Fortunately, I only have about $50 waiting, but I can imagine the frustration of sellers who have hundreds or thousands.
I think my next step will be to create a new ebay.ca account, and keep an eye on my old account in case eBay comes through with a solution that works. At this point, if they allowed us to redirect the funds to our PayPal account, I would pay the fees involved, just to settle the matter.

Can somebody confirm if this will actually work with us "legacy" users? I can open a US$ account, but my impression is that this will still fail to verify, because the ebay.com site (where we are sent to add our payment options) is expecting US Banks, not Canadian Banks with US$ accounts.
In other words, if my Canadian Account refuses to verify on the ebay.com payments page, then why would my Canadian Account suddenly verify if it was US$ account? Makes no sense to me.

I'm the same person as frank-zimmerman, this is just being posted from my new eBay.ca account.
Just to follow up. I created a new Canadian eBay account and the bank account (Simplii in this case) added within seconds (after creating my first listing). This was one of the accounts that miserably failed to verify on the ebay.com site, with my "legacy" eBay account.
So this confirms it is not the Bank that is the problem, and making a new bank account, as some of the eBay support are recommending, is NOT the solution.
Btw, my new account has a $1000 (CDN) limit per month. That was surprising, as my legacy account restricted me to $200 (US) per month, until I started selling more. Are we being punished for having old accounts that were not so active?
