How many thousands of users registered on eBay.com before eBay.ca came out. Think on that, we've all been using our accounts for decades with no issues. There has to be something more to it than that.

I managed to solve the issue by doing the following
1. Login to ebay.ca site
2. Go to your name (top left) , then "Seller account" , or click on this link https://bill.ebay.ca/billing/selleraccount
3. On the menu on the left , click "Payment Information \ Payments
4. It will ask you to login again
5. Click on "please go to Payments on the US site"
6. (Important). On the next page, don't click on "Update account details" , but instead scroll down to Payments and click on the PLUS (+) next to it in the main page
7. Add your Canadian Bank account. You might have to try a few, TD works for me
That's it

I registered on the .com site in 2000. Yep 22 years ago. I am in Canada and my profile shows that. I can't add a bank account to receive my sales. 2 weeks of online chat and phone calls has only resulted in me getting madder and ready to scream the next time one of them tells me to "open another bank account at a different bank"

I'm in the same situation. Registered in 2000 at eBay.com. Canadian citizen. Been at it for over a month. They aren't doing anything about it. Eventually they will restrict your account (you can't sell, and they will hold your funds) because you can't add a bank because of their glitch. They will tell you over and over to find some bank that will work. You can't. Eventually you may find someone from eBay who will tell you they are aware of the problem and are working on it, but that took me 3 hours of online "help" before they would admit it, and I don't think they are going to fix it. This has been going on for a long time with people in our situation.
Another seller like us had to demand payment via PayPal and then open a new account. So much for 22 years of feedback. It's terrible of eBay to do this.

Add me to the same boat!
Opened eBay account 20+ years ago while living in US, now I'm in Canada and struggling with the same issue.
Last time when I was chatting with an agent who was walking me thorugh the process, I have re-added the same TD Bank USD account, and then there was a screen asking for a FULL account number. That's after I already entered transit/institution/account on the previous screen. I asked the agent if the FULL account number needs to include transit and institution numbers and they said no, so I didn't include them. Well, still no microdeposits...
I wonder if next time I should try including all the numbers when asked for the full account number. Maybe that'll do the trick. Has anyone tried this?

I think there's one of two issues at play here, @*yourbestbet* . The first possibility is that somebody at TD Canada Trust railroaded you into opening a USD account that's actually located in the United States with one of their US affiliates, such as TD Waterhouse. A US-based USD checking account won't work with Managed Payments for a Canadian eBay seller. The account has to be with a Canadian chartered bank.
The other possibility--and I think it's the more likely one--is that you're being walked through eBay.com Managed Payment set-up pages and your Canadian-based USD chequing account is not working with those pages because they're expecting account information from an American checking account.
Next time you go on an online chat with an eBay agent, make it clear from the outset that you registered 22 years ago as of Boxing Day on the .com site (Happy anniversary?) when there was no eBay Canada at the time and you were in the US. You now need to register with Managed Payments but on the .ca site, not the .com site, in order for MP to work for you. I get the impression that some agents are in the loop on this issue while others may not be.
By the looks of things, some Canadian users with grandfathered .com accounts have been successful in registering for Managed Payments, but I think that's with a CDN $ chequing account, not a USD $ one. Still, you may find this recently dredged up thread to be of some use:

Of course, I may be completely off-base on just about everything here. Good luck!

Thanks. No, my account is not in the US. I have been told I need to enter a Canadian account info (transit #, institution # and acct #). Which I did about 4 or 5 times now. Still no microdeposits.
I have read through all the threads I could find where eBayers experienced similar problems. There seems to be no rhyme or reason for why for some of them the account is successfully added and for others - it just doesn't work.
On one of my last tries I have attempted to "fake" a routing number on the page where I am asked to enter a FULL account number, and the system just keeps saying that something is wrong and won't accept the number I enter. This is beyond frustrating. Who has the time for endless chats where reps keep suggesting to re-enter the bank info?

@retromangam @infolica, I suggest you take a leaf from @femmefan1946's book from the early posts in this thread and use the online chat option to contact Customer Service. It may take some time and patience, but you'll likely be eventually put through to a Managed Payments specialist who can help you through your issues.

Have you checked that the bank information is correct? That's a loooooooong set of numbers and if even on is misplaced or wrong total confusion entails.
