A Negative For Me, Guess It Was my Turn.

Sold a shirt on January 29th, buyer received the shirt on February 12th.

Buyer mentions there is a flaw in the sleeve. I said no problem, i sell with honesty & integrity & would gladly refund in full plus the return postage if there was a flaw.

Left my address for the return. Never heard from her again. Thought the item was in transit.

Tonight she leaves me a negative when i offered to make things right in eBay messages.

Cannot refund without having my item back in hand.

I somehow think the buyer was looking for a refund & to keep the item.

Is this worth reporting with a message or do i take the chance on a Customer Service Agent.

Not sure if this is a Feedback Violation but i'm sure eBay has access to the polite messages i sent to her offering to make things right.

Good thing i don't start til one tommorow.

I wouldn't waste my time with Peggy. You can try hitting the report button. Buyer has the shirt, you have the money, their FB is their "opinion", you left an excellent rebuttal. Even-Steven.

I "think" that most negs, these days, are left by the irIrrational. Your attempts to satisfy the irrational, make you a better person in my eyes. Most people see that as well.

Ok........ so I know that there are many time other posters don't agree with me........ but Trust Me:  This Works.

I would start very politely messaging the buyer and see what comes of it.

Apologize and all that crap if you want to........... can't hurt and it means nothing.

If you believe that the buyer is trying to get a refund and keep the item......... then you should be able to draw that out with emails and that will lead to FB removal.

Good Luck......... you don't deserve the NFB.

Re: A Negative For Me, Guess It Was my Turn.

Not sure if this applies to you, but there is a group of "get free stuff on ebay" shoppers, and one of the tricks is "there is something wrong with my item" - "sorry, here is your money back, not worth shipping back".

In my opinion this neg does not hurt you and actually helps you. It says loud and clear you do not give refund while letting buyer keep the item, so the members mentioned above will skip you from now on. Renew similar neg when this one runs off in a year.

I got beat by one of those 16 months ago. I am hyper-aware of that now. I get it back or I do not talk to you.

Okay, this is happening to me too right now... What if a claim is filed? Or can a claim be filed now that she left a negative?

Re: A Negative For Me, Guess It Was my Turn.

Yes..........  a claim be filed if the buyer left NFB.

I had a situation about a year ago where the buyer left NFB and filed a claim at the same time.

I had been working with her and waiting for pictures.  I intended to give a partial refund but she decided to extort the money out of me instead.

The FB was removed by ebay........

But that left the claim to deal with.

I suppose I could have pushed to see how ebay would handle it but I just processed the partial refund.

I still wonder if they would have found in my favour because the buyer was guilty of extortion.

Like BB's buyer, mine also sold on ebay...................... but still not too smart.

You deserved it because you're such a bad person!!  😉

I agree with others, your response is excellent and shows you won't be steamrolled.

But I know the feeling of seeing that ugly red line on your feedback...

Re: A Negative For Me, Guess It Was my Turn.

Hi I'm Still Here, okay sorry if I sound confused lol. So the claim ended because you paid a partial? refund? Or did ebay end it? or did the buyer lol. Oi!

I hate when people do this. I understand that sometimes there's a need but then there is that small percentage who are just miserable and want others that way too.

Re: A Negative For Me, Guess It Was my Turn.

Third attempt i have tried to reply to this post. Hit post & nothing happens yet i have replied to other posts.

Was kind of surprised to receive a negative since if offered to make things right but hadn't heard from her in ten days. I assumed since i left my return address & offered to pay the return postage had the item material been compromised that the item was in transit.

Have sent a Feedback Revision request but have no confidence that the revision will be changed.

Not sure if the buyer is a seller also, i*m. Probably just looking for a freebie.

Cannot remember when i last received a negative, must be years.

Oh well, compared to the horror stories we usually see on the boards, my concern could be considered minor.

I guess The Wheel of the Universe stopped on my User ID. Since i tried to make things right, Bad Karma to them.

I can walk with my head held high. Things happen & in the grand scheme of things i am only moderately perturbed.

Re: A Negative For Me, Guess It Was my Turn.

No.......... the buyer filed the claim and left NFB at the same time.

I had been waiting for pictures from the buyer and intended to do a partial refund once I had the pictures..............

(The pictures were slow in coming because there was nothing with the item and we both knew it.)

I started emailing the buyer and she eventually messaged to say that if I gave the refund that we do a FB removal thingy.

I called ebay and they removed the NFB based on that, but I still had the claim to deal with.

(It didn't just go away, but maybe I should have asked ebay about that......... I don't know.)

I struggled for a while what to do about the case.

I could have forced her to escalate it.

I didn't know how ebay would deal with that since the buyer had been found guilty of extortion.

In the end I decided just to refund and be done with it.

Too much time........... too many phone calls.

Exactly the reason I am hesitating about how to respond to the UID that has been opened against me, although in my case it is an item that has apparently not been received.  I may get a neg too but I will be able to leave a factual comment in FB that will show others I don't give in to that type of behaviour.

Not my style to hit the report button but in this case i have.

I think this should be noted on the buyers file that i tried to make things right.

She has a total of forty seven feedback.

Re: A Negative For Me, Guess It Was my Turn.

While there are irrational and corrupt people out there, it is useful for sellers to remember that 17 cents a minute that I keep harping on.

The minimum wage in Ontario is 17 cents a minute.

For a $10 item you have 58.7 minutes to settle the dispute or you are spending too much time and losing money.

And that is based on selling price. If you go on your profit margin, you have less time to wate on settling.

I am a little confused. If it is an item not received claim and you don't have delivery confirmation, you will eventually have to refund so why wait for a neg? A reply to a negative about an item not received doesn't really prove anything if the buyer really didn't receive the item...there is no way of knowing for sure. I am just basing this on the bare bone facts that you gave.

The problem with that theory is that if everyone refunds because it is too much trouble not to, then the scams are more likely to continue. Obviously, one has to pick their fights though...not all fights are worthwhile.

Re: A Negative For Me, Guess It Was my Turn.

Wish I could delete the post to you western. I just realized that you are probably referring to the buyer in the other thread. I can see why it isn't a simple matter of refunding.
