And now the Official Update from Stallion Express (tariffs)

Just received this, but it will mean changing item location from US to Canada on my listings if I use this service:

We want to provide an important update regarding the upcoming U.S. tariffs. Based on the latest developments today, the 30-day pause on tariffs is not expected to be extended, and tariffs are anticipated to take effect on Tuesday, March 4, for goods entering the U.S. from Canada.

At this time, it remains unclear whether Section 321 (de minimis program) shipments will be impacted. We have reached out to CBP (U.S. Customs) and our partnered customs brokers, but no confirmed information is available yet. As soon as we receive official clarification, we will provide an update.

New: Canada Post DDU Shipping is Now Live!

To ensure uninterrupted parcel movement, even if de minimis is no longer an option, we have launched Canada Post DDU (Duty Delivery Unpaid) shipping across all regions!

With Canada Post DDU, your shipments will still reach U.S. customers, regardless of upcoming tariff changes.

How Canada Post DDU Works:

If tariffs are implemented – Duties & taxes will be paid by the recipient upon delivery.

If tariffs are not implemented – Shipments will clear under Section 321 as usual, meaning there will be no duties/taxes passed on to the end customer, with no other additional charges whatsoever.

Seamless cross-border shipping, no matter what happens next week.

Available Canada Post DDU Services (Live as of Today!):

📦 Canada Post Tracked USA

ETA: 5-8 business days

Weight Limit: Up to 2kg (4.4lbs)

Max Dimensions: 108 inches

📦 Canada Post Expedited USA

📦 Canada Post Xpresspost USA

What You Should Do Next:

💡 We recommend switching to Canada Post DDU immediately if you want to ensure smooth shipments amid tariff uncertainty. This option ensures your shipments continue moving, no matter what happens next week.

We will send another update as soon as we receive more details on the tariffs. If you have any questions, feel free to reply back directly to this email.

Best regards,

The Stallion Team

Just buy your labels from your .CA seller hub and take pkgs to your local CP. Unless Stallion is giving a massive discount.

200 Gram package by tracked packet (through Stallion) is $9.33.

I think eBay has better tracked packet rates. Regardless of where I buy the label, if it's CP, I need to change the item location on all my listings to Canada. Not allowed (per eBay policy) to say it's in the US and ship it from outside the US. That will make buyers angry. They did say if I am using USPS to ship, then it's OK to say the item location is USA because it's a domestic shipment.

I just checked eBay.ca to see the cost to ship a coin to the US... it's 7.27 by Tracked packet.

Stallion is charging 9.33.

I sent a screenshot to my contact, maybe they can negotiate better rates. I'm going to ship with whomever is cheapest (that works best with my business model). Right now my business model doesn't use Canada Post, but that might change with tariffs.

It's even less. It displays 7.27, but the final charge with the new discount is only 6.74. And it includes 100 dollars insurance.

lol Stallion's "Canada Post DDU" service is just... Canada Post lol. All they did was add an option to purchase Canada Post labels on their platform.

From what I've seen the rates are your standard commercial discount rates - the same you would get on Shippo or NetParcel for example. eBay's Tracked Packet rates are a much better deal. There's no point for anyone that sells on ebay to be using Stallion's "Canada Post DDU" service.

Good to know I was just wondering about this. Paying for shipping out of our ebay funds is another bonus

Stallion is now just charging you more for the same Canada Post service that eBay is already offering. It's definitely time for those of you using Stallion to just start buying Canada Post labels directly from eBay.

@dinomitesales

@sin-n-dex

For anyone that used Shippo in the past or is still currently using Shippo, the option was there to add DDU options etc with the bonus long customs form. As far as I know it was never was an option with snap ship. DDU etc options have always been a required checkable box by courier. Problem has been eBay labels just forgot to include from the get go. Other important part missing are the check boxes for undeliverable/refused were the return at shippers expense or destroy (important for low value). With eBay labels only and default. Only option is return at shippers expense. Agains something available with Shippo and couriers.

The other elephant in the room is IF the de minimus poofs will federal tax id number(s) be also a requirement (mandated) like for anything that requires a formal entry? Most Joe's & Judy's will not give that out willy nilly. Businesses in the past were not as challenging to get that info.

I forwarded a screen cap of eBay's shipping prices to my contact at Stallion last night, they said they would forward to the pricing team and see if they can match eBay's prices.

I do believe they're aware that while many people will think the service is good, those of us on eBay have better rates and we're a bit part of their clientele.

Re: And now the Official Update from Stallion Express (tariffs)

Both Stallion and Chit Chats have introduced Tracked Packet this week.

The only advantage to either would be if they offer their own form of insurance, and you have had good experiences with their insurance process.

It isn't just that eBay is cheaper, it is that eBay goes through the standard Canada Post process. Meaning, I can drop it in a box, have it picked up, etc - and the path the package takes to get to the final Canada Post sorting centre is predictable.

With that said, it is good to see other firms offer Tracked Packet discounts, because it forces eBay to remain competitive. Chit Chats and Stallion might be the reason we originally did get these rates from eBay and Canada Post.

A 200g US Tracked Packet CP through Ebay is about 2 dollars cheaper and a $100 insurance is already included in the price.

The introduction of CP TP by both, Stallion and ChitChats only confirms what I said earlier - it's now SAFER to ship directly by CP.

Re: And now the Official Update from Stallion Express (tariffs)

I pay that or less just using Ebay, in fact I'm sending 500+ gram packages for less than $10 at times through CP ( depending on location obviously) Canada Post is now my number 1 provider, beats UPS and Chitchats in most cases

It's not necessarily safer, there can still be tariffs the buyer has to pay. If you ship CP with Stallion you don't have tariffs being charged back on your account to get the package across and there aren't significant delays while they sort it out. Stallion is only selling CP postage to hand your package off to CP, it's no different than going to the post office or buying postage on eBay to ship with CP, the only difference is the cost of the label.

But what if a buyer refuses to pay the additional 25%? With CP proper, the item will be returned to you for free. With Stallion/ChitChats you will be charged $5, and the item will be scrapped, unless you have the POA.

Not sure if CP will return for free - thinking you're charged the return postage if refused by recipient?

No, I got returns from Japan, Netherlands, Israel, Denmark, Sweden, South Africa, Costa Rica, United Arab Emirates, Russia, US and other countries. Never was charged anything. However, they were not refused: the return reason was a wrong address, wrong name, "undeliverable", "not claimed", or returned for unknown reason.

Here an example from the UAE:

No, returns are not free anymore with Canada Post. Not for the tracked parcels anyway. I don't have a lot of returns but last year I was charged for a return from the US and another one from Europe. Last month I was charged for a return from Canada. None of those were returned because they were refused by the recipient. A couple of years ago those returns would have been free of charge but not anymore.

Yes, this is something that I expect will happen and happen frequently in the initial period. Most American buyers have ZERO experience pay import duties while Canadians who have regularily bought from outside Canada have plenty of experiance paying import tax/duty when they buy anything over the (ridiculously) low free limit. Yes many times Canada Customs has let packages declared at more than the actual free limit but not always.

What happens if a buyer refuses to pick up / pay duties? As far as eBay is conserned a buyer that refuses a shipment for this reason is NOT eligible for Buyer Protection, sellers are not obligated to refund anything.

Reasonable sellers would refund but they would be able to deduct original shipping, eBay fees, return shipping charges etc. This would of course be dependent on tracking that actually shows that the recipient refused the package.

I anticipate there will be a lot of this initially.

Interesting, apparently I was not up to date .... CP website confirms what you say ....

I had a return from Israel last year and I wasn't charged anything.
