Another interesting possible explanation for lower feedback provision...

I happened to be speaking with a buyer on the phone and they relayed an interesting "glitch " experience they had which has prompted them to stop leaving feedbacks.

Their experience was that they went to leave a positive feedback, clicked 5 stars etc and at some point the comments aspect became AUTOMAGICALLY filled out. Worse yet it was very bad wording talking about the item(s) being fake etc. These were not their words and they could not edit it.

Because of their great concern for leaving the awful wording and being unable to change it, they backed out and sent a direct message to the seller advising them the feedback wasn't working and that they were very happy.

They also resolved not to use the feedback system anymore.

I did ask if they'd ever left any negative wordings for positives or anything in the past and they had not, so it wasn't even their words that showed up in the comment box.

Clearly a glitch, a rather worrisome one at that, but it does explain why there's at least one buyer that is willing but no longer actually providing feedbacks the formal way.

Note it wasn't a transaction of mine and the buyer did not report it in so I don't have more exact details but I thought it worth sharing here.

I've seen something similar.

Leaving feedback as a Seller for a buyer, the words that came up referred to a purchase I supposedly had made.

I found by fiddling about, that if you First fill in your FB, and Then mark it positive, the unwanted message does not appear.

Workarounds should not be necessary but here we are.

I too have seen something similar but have been able to work around the "automatic feedback" version as I skip past that part as soon as I see it. Note I always use the desktop version for stuff like that, app version is probably different. Good to know to keep an eye out (both as buyer or seller...I am most definitely both!)

Ive had two customers tell me this, one regular, within the last couple days.  Its a coding glitch of some kind during their recent reconfiguration of the feedback process.  The workaround as described below addresses the problem but if customers are giving up and contacting the seller to express frustration this is big ux problem they need to address and fix.

This is all part of the new eBay experience  for leaving feedback reported on dot com recently (Sellers perspective. Sounds like the issues are reciprical). See attached. Aug 5, 2022. It sums up the concerns very well.

Another interesting possible explanation for lower feedback provision...

First noticed this Friday (08/05) when I left feedback for a seller I had purchased from and for a customer who had purchased from me.

In both cases the "comments" box contained suggested wording.

In both cases the suggested wording vanished as soon as I typed the first character of my own comments.

Just checked today (08/08) and the suggested wording is still appears.

When leaving positve feedback for a seller  the suggested wording is:  "Great find!  I've been looking for this and considered two other options.  This one looked most promising.  When I got it, it was even better than the picture!  Plus the extra detail in packaging made it perfect."

FWIW- and longtime sellers with high feedback will find this easier to swallow than newbies trying to build a reputation-  eBay does not use feedback to assess member accounts.

Some buyers do.

Most seem to think that 95% is a solid A, instead of someone who has so many Defects they are likely to be closed down.

I also had another problem - I tried to leave a feedback for a seller, but the "leave feedback" button was greyed out, not active. Not possible to make the button work. I purchased already hundreds of items from this seller and left hundreds of feedback in the past.

I leave feedback from "Manage orders awaiting shipment " by selecting the check box and clicking for feedback, that brings up  drop down menu of feedback I have left and I choose it from there.  The glitch does not show up that way, and it is the first I have heard about it.

The seller is a TRS and has the perk of delaying FB for seven days?

This allows unhappy buyers to discuss problems before leaving FB that cannot be removed.

Just tried to leave feedback from orders page and got the following message.

lotzofuniquegoodies_0-1661148520668.png

Earlier today got an error message when I tried to respond to a message from Tasks on hub page. Had to go to messages directly to answer.

Does eBay test anything before implementing??

Tried a reboot, cleared cache and cookies. Ummm nope. Not at my end. Seeing similar all over the place. Status page states everything is wonderful. Notes system maintenance for Thursday.

I left four feedback today with no problems. Not on this account, not enough sales to speak about that.

Feedback is still working the same in the App, but give them time - I'm sure they'll mess with that soon enough... 🙄
