Anyone who has a package returned to sender: you NEED to contact Canada Post about the matter. Ask exactly why it was returned to sender, and if they can't answer that then you need to push for a postage refund. Canada Post has been WAY to laissez-faire about this whole "China-USA" situation and it seems to be affecting their customers now. The more people that complain and make them aware that this is a growing issue, the faster they will deal with it.
Anyone that has had a package stuck in/around customs for more than a few days should also open a service ticket on the tracking number. They need to be made aware that these delays are actively occuring.

Thanks for sharing this, I didn't know this was going on. I haven't sent any packages to the US that have originated in China, but I did get a Macau sale yesterday (turns out it was going to Europe, so all good there).
I think I'm going to use Canada Post directly from the post office instead of using a CBS Canada Post option.

Getting a Canada Post refund would be easiest if you buy postage from Canada Post directly, instead of through a CBS. I would presume if you purchase your postage through Stallion or Chit Chats, it will be much more difficult to get a refund directly from Canada Post. (And they mail the refund cheque to the sender, who is Stallion or Chit Chats).

Canada Post does label refunds in the form of a credit to account. So in that case, the credit would go to the CBS. It's between you and the CBS to get a reimbursement at that point.
Even if you don't get reimbursed for it though, I'm mainly just saying that you should try and escalate the matter to that point. The more people that make this an Issue (with a capital "I") the faster they will deal with it on their end.

I've made a few claims with Canada Post for labels I bought on eBay, and the money was mailed to me by cheque.

Recently? I just did one a few weeks ago and it was processed as "CREDIT TO ACCOUNT", so I had to reach out to NetParcel to get a refund. I assumed eBay worked the same way.
Did you have to request the cheque? Did you open the claim online or over the phone?

Yesterday I received a return package from Poshmark, buyer returning just changed mind whatever, lied to poshmark inventing issues, so package was dropped at post office on Monday and Wednesday package came from outside of province took less than 48 hours to come to my mailbox.
So it's clearly Canada Post sitting on their hands with the whole Canada US mail situation because other mail is moving relatively well.
This is abusive what they do given how outrageously bold they are when it comes to them going on strike. But dealing with packages, no, this is their bread and butter, US shipments, this is how Canada Post makes money so why they don't want that money from me.
Refunds - who do I go for Refunds in Canada Post. I tried. I was told I can't get this refunded because this is corporate account, the postage was sold to Stallion and Chitchats and not consumer business.
No way to get refunds. Chitchats saying they can't get refund? No they don't want to deal with refunds in reality and are hoping people will just back off.
When similar situation happened with Fedex overcharging a surcharge me erroneously ( i found out they applied their irregular packaging rule but I had pictures of my box going out so it wasn't irregular shape), the fees they slapped were paid by Stallion and Stallion charged me. I went to Fedex, demanding refund, it was 30 dollars surcharge (or whatever they call it), I was told by Fedex, I am not Stallion, this is corporate account and not consumer.
Chitchats knows you can't get money refunded once it's paid.
I wonder what will Stallion do with my situation. I wish the packages are lost completely in this situation, because then at least I can get insurance refund. If package comes back after several weeks, had to cancel sale, lost shipping, so I rather they get lost.

9.72 refund?
And 30 minutes spent on this whole thing including finding out where to file refund and following up. Was it worth it? Little more than minimum wage. That's why Chitchats hoping people let it go.
Forgot to mention - Chtichats and Stallion do get their refunds, while you don't. They do get refunds for performace related reasons, if UPS doesn't deliver package within a certain amount of time, Chitchats and Stallion get refund for non-performance or whatever it is called. There are services that handle that, check shipment delivery and then file for retund for individual shipments.
You as a customer of Chitchats or Stallion have no chance getting this sort of refund, this stays with Chitchats and Stallion.

If an item is RTS from the USA, it is in no way Canada Post's fault.

On eBay, you're the sender (on the shipping label).
With a CBS, they are the official sender with their mailing address. Stallion's address is on any labels I print on their portal.

They require you to purchase their insurance to be entitled to a refund. Generally I don't buy insurance, unless the value of the item is high enough that I wouldn't want the item to be lost (plus in lots of cases of insurance the customer has paid enough shipping that I'm not out of pocket for that).

Just received from Stallion (I didn't read it yet, but I will).
We’re reaching out to share several important shipping updates and improvements we’ve made across the Stallion platform.
1. Canada Post Tracked Packet USA – Returns Due to CBP Rejections
| |
2. Intelcom (Dragonfly) Now Approved for Amazon FBM
Intelcom (Dragonfly) is now officially recognized as a carrier on Amazon which means Amazon FBM sellers can now use Intelcom for domestic shipping.
This has been a highly requested update, and we’re excited to make it available across the Stallion platform.
3. APC International Shipping Now Re-Enabled (Ontario Only – Phase 1)
We’ve re-enabled APC international shipping for Ontario-based clients, now operating directly from Canada rather than routing through the U.S.
In this first phase, only DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) services are available, and only for the countries listed below (see image).
We’ll continue to expand both destination coverage and provincial access in the coming weeks.
| |
If you have any questions about these updates or need help adjusting your setup, our team is always here to support you.
Thanks again for shipping with Stallion, – The Stallion Team |

Just received the Stallion message as well. How can there be confusion on who collects the tariffs? Canada Post can't collect from the receiver in the US as the delivery is done by USPS. If USPS demands that CP has to collect, then CP will have to BROKER each package with tariffs and collect it from the sender, the Canadian shipper. This is then not DDU at all but DDP.
I don't see how CP can collect from the US recipient in any shape or form - what, CP pays tariffs at the ISC, USPS delivers but demands recipient to pay, then if they pay they send the money to CP? That's not possible. I have a feeling Canada Post is going to shut down de minimis shipping to the US entirely if CBP demands Canada Post to collect all duties before hand (DDP). CP just doesn't have that mandate.

lol if Stallion is telling the truth, and that’s actually what they were told by US CBP, then that’s hilarious. Shows just how messed up everything is down there.
Of course it’s the United States’ duty (no pun intended) to assess imports.
The Chit Chats Blog has pretty similar verbage.

It should be their duty - but this all smells to high heaven. Because djt believes the country exporting pays the tariff. So he'll just tell USPS they don't collect - all packages coming in must be pre-paid.
Wasn't China/HK collecting tariffs from the shipper? And they shut down shipments to USPS because they didn't want to do it anymore?
I think everyone should refuse to collect tariffs for the US. Let them do their own dirty work.
