Did you have to request the cheque? Did you open the claim online or over the phone?
It would have been last year sometime. I assume the cross border shippers work different from Canada Post. I haven't had to deal with a refund on labels from anywhere other than Canada Post and eBay. I don't think there is an option to request a cheque. I opened the claim online.

lol if Stallion is telling the truth, and that’s actually what they were told by US CBP, then that’s hilarious. Shows just how messed up everything is down there.
Of course it’s the United States’ duty (no pun intended) to assess imports.
Why I posted before about why eBay etc couldn't collect on behalf of US customs. Once the goods are there it's there job to inspect and access customs charges and what used to be 6.95 for processing. Who knows if that magically went up. Similar to how it is Canada customs job to inspect and access anything arriving here.
What The Donald never considered by removing de minimus and appying tariffs willy nilly (pardon the technical term) he made HIS customs officers job 1000 times more challenging in a blink of a signature.
Very rough math:
58 M packages arrive in the USA each day.
There are approximately 21,000 inspectors spread throughout the country. That includes airports and border crossing.
Donald...Do the math!!!!

Disclaimer: The above numbers include parcels arriving by methods including the mail, couriers and transport. The inspectors are spread out amongst those services and entry points.

I'm surprised it's taken this long for the situation to get so messy. DJ still thinks tariffs are paid by the seller. He still hasn't got it through his thick head that they are paid for by the buyer....well he is almost 80 afterall.
It might be helpful for this thread if everyone who is getting packages returned from the US state where they are shipping from in Canada. Then it might be possible to determine which US points of entry are the most problematic or if it is happening at all points of entry. I believe there are only 3 for international mail? Chicago, LA and NY. The problem may lie with indivisual inspectors who aren't clear on what they are supposed to be doing (poor/inadequate training).

This might be a dumb question, but I thought removing de minimis was to crack down on Fentanyl shipments coming in (at least that's what people in my real life circle think is going on, I could of course be wrong).
So how the heck is making other countries collect tariffs on packages with no de minimis stop fentanyl from coming in? Doesn't US Customs have to inspect the packages to determine there's no Fentanyl, and would the Fentanyl shippers just pay tariffs and ship their drugs with other goods?
I'm sure someone will be along shortly to tell me this isn't really about Fentanyl, but it was the excuse for why the tariffs were starting in the first place.

Why don't you start a thread for people to post to?
I'm not (yet) affected, so I have nothing to start a thread with, but I'm interested in knowing the COO of the product, the value, where in Canada it was shipped from, which Customs Office accepted it (and returned it).
So far all I am getting is that it's China made goods of any value shipped from Ontario to Chicago and returned from there. But I'm getting that info from Chit Chats and Stallion's notifications this week.

Trump couldn't implement the tariffs initially (especially against Canada and Mexico) without a national security crisis or something, so he invented one with fentanyl. If he truly cared about it, the US would be cracking down on all the domestic labs and dealers like they are in other areas. I'm not saying fentanyl isn't an issue for both the US and Canada, I'm just saying his actions don't match his comments.

Removal of de minimis is mostly about closing the Chinese from exploiting it as means to avoid tariffs. If the 'big beautiful bill' passes, de minimis will end in 2027 for goods from all countries, not just China.
I think we should be prepared for that bill to pass, and spend the next year and a half making plans to sell to other markets.
Stallion is offering a DDP solution to the EU, I saw postage to the UK come up with DDP (I didn't select it because they have a VAT code on eBay and it was $5 cheaper to ship my coin with NL Post/Royal Mail). Also APC is partnered with EVRI courier in the UK which has a bad rap.
I might do some inquiries on postage to other EU countries to see how the DDP solution compares to NL Post.
