Hi,
I decided to post it here, because this might be a very useful info for some of us.
If we use the CP EST, we are asked about the shape of our package. If we choose the "cylindrical tube", there is a $2 surcharge. However, there is no "cylindrical tube tube" option, if the shipping label is printed through Ebay.
This problem was aready discussed here a few times. I was even contacted by Ebay directly - they asked me to describe the problem and provide more details.
Today, I saw - for the first time - an official confirmation, the the surcharge doesn't apply to Small and Tracked Packets. This is a big game changer for me and for some of us (about 50% of my items are shipped in tubes). Definitely, I will sleep better from now on 😄

When eBay labels was designed (years ago) eBay forgot to include it as an option. If you go to CP's calculator or CP to create a shipment it is there. As you noted it was pointed out but never addressed. It's similar to adding additional insurance with eBay Labels. You are limited to what an item sold for. In some cases that may be much less than what it is actually worth. Has made it difficult for anyone to preplan for those extra costs when something sells by an auction and a seller will never know what that will end up being. (From a US perspective in the past with GSP it was unable to process orders for anything in a shipping tube. Have been unable to confirm if that applies to eIS.
CP - Canada - Note: No counter rate for expedited
It's also attached to Priority mail with the 2.oo surcharge
CP - USA
On eBay's part it was short-sighted/bad programming to not include. Similar to not having access to all the additional services UPS/Fedex provide when you go their website.
If or when you do test, keep us posted if you happen to see a secondary charge....after mailing or if it comes with a detailed explanation. Sure took forever for that official explanation to appear.

This is good to know. I usually keep a few rectangular poster mailers on hand and put the tubed poster inside. The tubes and the surcharge are a similar price, and it adds extra protection.
Disney used to have an Insiders program where each DVD or Blu-ray would come with a slip that entitled you to points. 2-3 slips was usually enough to redeem for a poster. Interestingly enough, they switched to triangular tubes a few years ago. I don't know if they require the surcharge, but I have always assumed that they do not, and maybe that is why they changed.

Anything that packages and shipped CP that is really long, like for an example ummm hockey stick (a jersey would be fine) or golf club either do not work or get dinged big time/require premium services. Golf clubs do not appear to be a problem shipped domestically within the USA using USPS.
Example of 1 of my listings to eastern Ontario below. Comes out at 29.00. 33.50 to LA via
tracked.

Putter shipped in the USA approx 25.00 CAD. 40.00 to Canada USPS. 71.00 CAD with eIS plus customs charges.
