Description Not Shown In Desktop Mode.

On Sunday I uploaded a few new auction listings, upon checking for errors I found that there was 1 of the 7 listings that does not show the description when viewed on my desktop. Instead there is a "See full item description" link similar to the mobile version, clicking on the link opens the description in a new tab. Tried 3 different browsers, all rendered the listing without a description. I'm not sure what to make of this ...  ID 292479904531

I believe this happens because you have a non-HTTPS link in the description somewhere....

You'll have to review the description and see if you have any links in it that are not HTTPS.....

(I took a quick look and both the links look ok to me, but I'm rushed this morning and may have missed something)

Thanks for the idea but the links are https and are the same as in all the other listings that display normally.

I'd forgotten about ebay's planned treatment of descriptions with non-compliant content. So per your suggestion I checked the html. At the moment both links are identical, they point to an internal ebay page. The links look fine, maybe I'm missing something.

I noticed this on the weekend too. I can’t say I like it; Item Descriptions are important but I suspect this is all part of the full-Product Catalogue version of search and purchase of the future.

Well I fixed the problem, removed both links and now the description displays normally. I did carefully check the html used in the links and there was not a thing wrong with the code, it was identical to the code used in all my other postcard listings and they display the description normally. So I've no idea why this one listing was behaving differently. Seems like it must be another glitch.

This was my first thought too, but for ebay to hide the description on desktop doesn't make any sense at all. So following up on the suggestion from ricarmic I removed all the links which solved the problem.

Just for giggles I revised the same offending listing once again this time reinserting the same links I had just removed ... now the description is displaying properly links and all. I'm still puzzled.

eBay member shipscript has made a free active content scanning tool to check listings for issues and how to fix them. Scan your listings to see if any issues.
