Ebay Canada Shipping Supplies

Anyone else feeling totally stumped when they go to use their quarterly coupon for shipping supplies? (to arrive shortly).  Currently there are 35 items listed on ca. 7 items are under 35.00 CAD. 5 of them are stickers/thank you cards. On dot com there are 45 items listed. Majority with variations for quantity so in theory more item choices. 35 of those items have options under $35.00 USD.  Do you spend more to get what you really want or buy the bare minimum to not let your credit go to waste?

Re: Ebay Canada Shipping Supplies

You can write "Do Not Safe Drop" all over the box. The carrier may or may not follow the instruction.

Buyers have the option of using the Canada Post tracking page and setting a delivery preference. One of the options is send to post office. If a buyer knows no one is at home during the day and still chooses to have Canada Post safe drop packages rather than have them sent to the post office, being unable to secure the package is a risk they are choosing to take on.

With that said, someone stealing a box isn't going to care if it is branded eBay, Amazon, etc. The eBay logo on the box doesn't really indicate that there is anything of value in it. If anything, it probably indicates the opposite since the average person sees eBay as a marketplace for used and pre-owned items.

Re: Ebay Canada Shipping Supplies

With my store I get the $70 promo. On alternate quarters I'll buy the tape or the mid-size poly mailers, not bubble ones. Cheapest 9x12 paper envelopes I could find are at Staples, $54 (plus tax) for 250. Buying 2 lots of mailers and paying the difference that's over $70, (plus tax), still works out cheaper per unit.

95% of my sales go as letter-mail. I use the poly mailers, folded and taped up (clear tape) and a big printed address label to cover the eBay logos. eBay tape only used on the insides, same as previous post by intimewithmusic.

Staples minimum order for free delivery is $35. If you online order most things should be available. In the case of these 6 x 4.7 boxes I get 90 for the same price as 25 from eBay.

 Oh oh @femmefan1946... I feel a rant coming on... Trying to resist.. awh p**p. Rant unleashed... ;>}

Everybody knows the prices of eBay Shipping Supplies are MYTHICAL...

If eBay were to join reality and supply branded shipping items competitively they would have to put a stop to the huge huge huge shipping overcharges that have gone viral into an unreal "other dimension" on the platform. Take this one for example: SEE PHOTO

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lister's value $13.55CAD (Most of us are selling them for under $2)

Item Location: California

Item Weight: 7 Grams

Shipping to southern British Columbia: $179.52 UPS Worldwide "Saver".

I see this ALL the time. Not just an occasional listing error. Not an "OOPS".

How are our customers and POTENTIAL customers ever going to take eBay seriously when they allow sellers to inflate shipping on the sly like this when they set mythical prices on thier own shipping supplies?

A hundred and eighty dollars shipping for a 7 gram teeny $2 part we all know will go lettermail.....

In the words of Steve Martin, Well Excuoooze Me!

End of rant. ........................................................................................................ I feel much better. Thank you @femmefan1946 and @lotzofununiquegoodies a paloolza!

I've been spotting that issue for awhile (maybe 3 or 4 years). My guess the only reason it shows up is as a placeholder for site visibility. They have no intention on shipping Internationally. I've attempted messaging a seller here and there on several occasions. Either I got back crickets or the basic canned "that's the only service we use for shipping internationally." They make it sound like it takes soo much longer to send a low value item when you have to create customs documents. They best way to bypass that from a Canadian perspective would be adding a sort for shipping services a buyer will accept.

PS. Bringing that observation up in the weekly Q & A got me nowhere also.

A new buyer browsing eBay for the first time & seeing that will go elsewhere. It makes the whole site look like a ripoff and I see it ALL the time.

Too bad you got "Cricketsapalooza"...

Re: Ebay Canada Shipping Supplies

For anyone who recently put in an order for shipping supplies and is not seeing any progress, according to the shipper, Canadapost is behind on scanning because of volume of orders. Placed my order on the 4th. Was packaged on the 5th but there has been no update.

Re: Ebay Canada Shipping Supplies

In my experience, there is some sort of disconnect between them creating the label and it going anywhere, there always has been this delay, in my experience with my orders. (They do have 5 day handling time, yet normally the "label" is created quickly after the order is placed)

Normally despite the delay, it miraculously shows up in the mailstream just before the delivery date and gets here on time based on the estimated delivery date (I'm usually only 1 day from where they're shipping mine from).

I've been surprised how late it usually goes out vs the delivery date yet almost always gets here on time, with some exceptions over time though.

They would skip that whole issue by using a manifest system. It creates a master barcode. Scan that and done. We were doing it that way in the mid to late 80ies.

Re: Ebay Canada Shipping Supplies

yes, the pricing is ridiculous.  I have a uline in town and I can buy 250 count boxes of one item from them for $7 more than what these guys charge for a 100 count box.  If I buy 100 count boxes at uline, they are around 55% of ebay's supply store price.

I like buying one particular item as Ive found its lighter than certain uline bubble mailers by enough that it allows me to get more and more stuff out under the 100 gram cutoff, saving me a 1.40 every time I can do it, so buying some stuff here with the coupon is distinctly advantageous.

Surely though people have figured out ecommerce sellers are the next phase of the modern slave economy and the backbone of all ecommerce platforms' day to day financial well being  is driven by nickel and diming sellers to death on absolutely everything.  If theres a cost or a fee they can offload onto us, they'll find it, guaranteed.

Interesting story on how I ended up on this thread: I went to find my new quarter supply coupon - I saw it there last week at the top of my summary page - and lo and behold it has disappeared, and I wanted to find out if anyone else had the same thing happen.
