Ebay International Shipping... is it going to be available to Canadian sellers?

In my account (ebay.com) says it says ....

Your order reports will soon have columns to support Ebay International Shipping...

I am a Canadian based seller.

Wondering if this program is now going to be available to Canadian sellers, or are they just simply saying the repots have the new columns regardless you are enrolled in International shipping or not.

The returns handling caught my attention because right now I have the cheaper carriers I work with do not offer returns on international items. So returns (if underliverable) will go to trash and it's my loss.

Anyways how does the return with Ebay international shipping work?

Here is what it says ...

No return hassles or refunds If the buyer opens a return, eBay will provide them with a return label and issue a refund at no cost to you. You keep the sale.

There’s a lot we don’t know about this new program. Your best bet is to keep hanging out on the .com discussion boards and find out the nitty-gritty from other sellers.

Yes, the perk of International Shipping’s handling of returns is a big incentive for sellers to use this new program, as is the perk of no international fees on the sale. I wouldn’t be surprised if more Canadian sellers would like to find out if this new program works well and if it will come to Canada.

That program will only be available to eligible sellers, imo there's no way a Canadian registered seller shipping from Canada could ever be eligible. Sounds like a great program for U.S. based sellers though, only time will tell if it's buyer friendly.

From what I have read (see below) the item would first need to go to a depot to be shipped from Canada(Domestic Hub). Until there is a central depot Canada (where would it be located? Central for eastern sellers would totally different for anyone located in the west adding greatly to final delivery times). The other thing to take into consideration a program like this would add substantially to a parcels handling. This could increase the chance of damage before it gets to its final destination.

When you are rolled into the program, all new and current eligible Global Shipping Program listings will automatically default to eBay International Shipping.

To enjoy the benefits of eBay International Shipping on your existing eBay international standard delivery and USPS International listings, you’ll need to make a manual update. Learn how with our handy guides.

Sounds again like something will not be leveling the playing field for anyone that ships from Canada.

They haven't ever started any of the other ebay international shipping programs to Canada so I would guess that this one won't apply to us either.  To be honest,  unless we had a special rate to a Canadian shipping center, it wouldn't make much sense to have it here.  It is often less expensive to ship to another country than it is to ship to another location in Canada.

The reason for the GSP was that eBay sales were flat and they decided to encourage parochial US sellers to ship internationally, a prospect which terrifies many.

Even shipping to freight forwarders, the second safest addresses available, upsets those sellers, who don't seem to understand ratios, why Google is not helpful with complaints, or concepts like "foreign" and refuse to ship to Post Offic boxes (the safest destination), APO/military addresses, or to Hawai'i which they seem to think is a small town in Kenya.

It was later extended to the UK, because : Brexit?

The rest of the world is pretty calm about shipping outside their own borders.

Unless the new program saves considerable money-- like 25-30% off Canada Post rates-- I'll stick to my stamps on the envelope regime.
