I go to Ebay, do a search(s) using different numbers and nothing comes up. I go to Google, put in the same search and the FIRST item to come up is a listing ON Ebay. So why then can I easily find an item on Google., that is on Ebay but Ebay's own search fails?? Same search parameters.

You can search using slightly different numbers in hopes of turning up the item. If a part number has a hyphen in it, you may leave it out, or try searching with it. People will often use both numbers in case the searcher was unfamiliar with the exact spelling of the part.

A couple of thoughts.
I've noticed that when I repeat a Search, I get different items each time. Not entirely different, just a different mix.
I suspect that the algorithm is set to assume that if you didn't like (buy/view/watch) the first batch, it will show you a different batch. EBay has billions of listings after all.
Your Google search that turns up (active?) eBay listings is proof that the much maligned Item Specifics are working.
We were told they were designed to attract SEO's and well basically Google.
The problem may be that humans will describe the same thing different ways. Remember the parable of the six blind men and the elephant?.
But the Item Specifics force sellers to be very precise about their products.
I laugh that Books have three Required IS-- author ,title and language. But that those are Required leads me to think that some sellers are not mentioning the author or title of the book they are trying to sell. And yes some people are that dim.

This isn't confined to Ebay. Compared to Google, everything else is 20 years out of date. I guess if Ebay invested several billion $$$ like Google has in that one specific function, their search would be as good.

What has eBay done to eBay search to make it now work so poorly?
Sellers on dot com have been reporting this for awhile.

Hello devon@ebay
Was there any follow up from the specialists? These concerns are substantially affecting a large group of sellers (Mostly Canadian). This is not how eBay should be working.

Hi @lotzofuniquegoodies! I was able to share this information with the specialists and they said they will be looking into this. They also said they will reach back out if they are needing more examples.

This morning in the process of creating a book listing using an ISBN(eBay was able to locate the specific book), IS is asking for RUN TIME and CASE TYPE. Wouldn't these fields be contaminating a listing seeing as they do not apply in any way, shape or form? This would NOT be the first time seeing fields that did not apply to a category.
