Ebay shipping supplies will no longer ship to a PO Box

Just tried to order my free store supplies and added to cart and tried to check out.

Says they don't ship to PO Boxes but I don't have street delivery.

They did the last quarter, is this something new?

Any one else run into this?

Are they using courier now?

I have emailed them and await their response.

Re: Ebay shipping supplies will no longer ship to a PO Box

I used my coupon and ordered some supplies.    I live in a small town and get our mail at the main post office.   I just added my street address ahead of the Box number and it went through and it is coming by UPS.

Now I have a question.  If they do have charges,  can one refuse the package?    Don't really want to outlay any cash either for something that I may not use.   My last package of items have not been touched yet.   I only have 2 dollars invested in this order so would rather forfeit that amount than to outlay anymore.   Just wondering.

UPS will collect at the door prior to handing the item over to the receiver if import taxes and/or brokerage fees are due. (Other couriers may do it differently.)

However, I am not clear on whether a buyer who has *refused* delivery is still eligible for a refund as per the ebay Money Back Guarantee, or what rules paypal applies to it as part of their Buyer Protection.

No one knows at this point until we get some answers from the seller and someone at Ebay.

If the seller actually answers my question and is prepared to get into a conversation with me, I will cite the screenshot from the Weekly Board Hour that quoted ebay Canada staff speaking to the matter.

Re: Ebay shipping supplies will no longer ship to a PO Box

Raphael emailed me back and has referred it to both US and Canada to get resolved. Asked me to wait a couple of day and if nothing, I am to get back to him.

I have heard nothing back from Ebay supplies directly.

I will keep everyone informed as I hear back.

Re: Ebay shipping supplies will no longer ship to a PO Box

I received my reply from Ebay Shipping Supplies tonight.

I dearly wish I could copy and paste their message verbatim since I think it would greatly reassure other Canadian sellers if I could but since that's against the rules, I will not.

Here then is their reply, paraphrased:

Orders are sent to Canada with prepaid tariff and brokerage fees. As such, there shouldn't be any additional costs upon receipt.

So that seems to alleviate my concern right there.

It doesn't, however, resolve the no postal boxes problem.

Yes that's good and helps explain the ridiculous price.

There is a problem with that of course, HST is refundable to registered sellers as an ITC but in theory at least you need some documentation, what are the odds of getting any kind of invoice, receipt, packing slip or customs form showing the HST/GST portion and registration number? (did any of the previous orders have this????)

I sure hope no genius there is in the habit of ticking the "do not safe drop" box!

Re: Ebay shipping supplies will no longer ship to a PO Box

I just remembered that my order last month was sent by ups.  It was left on the porch so if there were any fees they would have been prepaid.

I don't think my previous orders came with any packing slip whatsoever.

Out of curiosity, how would you reclaim GST on an item whereby payment was submit via 'free' coupon?

Re: Ebay shipping supplies will no longer ship to a PO Box

My last order came via UPS and it had brokerage fees and taxes on it which I paid.

I then complained directly to the store, same as one would do for a regular seller, and advised that I didn't care about the taxes because of the ITC aspect but the rest of the fees were a problem.

They were very prompt in replying, advising that it shouldn't have happened that way and refunded me everything except the taxes (they sent $$ to my PAYPAL id). Remember I said it was ok for me to pay the taxes when I complained.

I had a piece of paper that let me see the amount of tax vs brokerage fees.

As a note, if you don't pay the taxes with a freebie, then you won't get an ITC anyway....

You and PJ waited until the previous quarter's coupon was almost expired prior to placing your orders. Willpower? Or lack of incentive to use it?

Re: Ebay shipping supplies will no longer ship to a PO Box

My most recent comment sounded rude when it wasn't meant as such. I posed the question because I've always spent my shipping supply coupon within approximately 30 seconds whether I needed the goods or not. I only wonder as to the reason people wouldn't. Seeing as how it's a coupon code for 'free' stuff.

Actually my problem is trying to figure out what might be of use to me.....

Last quarter was the first time ever that they've offered something I can use (the tissue paper).

They actually made a mistake because when I ordered the tissue paper, I could afford 4 packs with my $105 coupon. After I advised them of the problem that they fixed, I noticed the price in the store doubled (because it now included the brokerage fees).

I figured this time around I'd only be able to get two packs but alas, they aren't offering them at this time. (my whole family was using ebay tissue paper in our Xmas presents this year!)

It puts me back to the usual problem of trying to figure out what I could order that might ever be of any use.... the good news is that my wife used a bunch of the bubble envelopes this year to store Xmas decorations!

My what to buy dilemma happens because:

-The tape is a pain for me because I use it two ways, the usual way for taping the boxes, but I also tape the address from the paypal payment email onto the letter/package so I need the tape to be clear for that.

-The envelopes are a pain for me because they are all plastic - I stick stamps including lickable ones on the envelopes which doesn't work on plastic envelopes

-I already have custom made sturdy boxes for my needs (to get a decent price I have to order over 1,000 which lasts me about 5 years)

OMG as my daughter would text....

This is a great example of why these boards prompt outside the box thinking sometimes....

After I typed up this response, a little thought came into my head that in all my years of shipping, I don't think I have ever tested whether stamps would actually stick to the plastic envelopes. Stamps generally don't stick to plastic (taping of any kind is a good example).

So I did a wee experiment with both dextrose and PVA gum backed stamps (the stamp people will know what I mean) and a most humbling result occurred, all of the darned stamps are sticking no problems!

I can't believe I never even thought to ever test it over the last 15 years of using bubble envelopes......

Well that changes everything..... now I can go shopping after all!

Re: Ebay shipping supplies will no longer ship to a PO Box

Ah, I see. I have a life-time supply of ebay-branded packing tape. As I said once before, I have enough to do a performance art piece. Stay tuned!

As I mentioned before, there are absolutely ebay store subscribers who use their shipping supply coupons to order supplies which they then split and offer for resale on ebay in smaller quantities. Like single rolls of the aforementioned tape. One seller comes to mind that's sold 105 individual rolls already at CAD $2+ each. (For the record, it's not me who's doing that.)

Re: Ebay shipping supplies will no longer ship to a PO Box

I just tried putting a street address on line 1 and my PO Box on line 2 and got the same message, don't ship to PO Box.

It also shows both line 1 and line 2 on the same line instead of one under the other when you add to cart.

And on my other ID when I went to the .ca link for supplies, all were shown in US dollars not Can $. They did convert when I added to cart.

I really wish this whole mess would get fixed with the not so free shipping supplies

Re: Ebay shipping supplies will no longer ship to a PO Box

If you just put the street address only, or put something like (#999) on the second line, instead of POB or something it can't identify as a POB that might fix it???

As an additional reason for waiting, I see in their bad feedback that there are a lot of errors of type or quantity.

I presume they are overwhelmed with orders the moment people get their coupons and so make mistakes.

Waiting a couple weeks lets the rush be past so they have more time to assemble the orders correctly.....or so one hopes.

Could you spell out 'postal box' instead of using 'P.O.BOX?'

Re: Ebay shipping supplies will no longer ship to a PO Box

Sure I can set up an address with street only and no PO box at all, but my last order came USPS and CP with no issues at all.

Why do we now have to do another work around is what I want to know. What did they change again to make it difficult.

I will see what Raphael has to say as I have yet to use any of the supplies.
