Getting Overcharged (again) on Expedited Lite Labels

I noticed some additional charges the last few days on Expedited Lite labels (on both of the only ones I've sent out this year). Both packages were 16x13x14 cm and under 190g.  Has anyone else had any over the last few weeks?

I had a few last summer too, and then the problem seemed to go away.

Re: Getting Overcharged (again) on Expedited Lite Labels

There were some postal rate increases this January, I'm not sure if Expedited Lite was affected also (since this is a special agreement service with eBay and Canada Post) but that would be my guess.

I'm not sure what happens when someone buys and the rate shown/charged to them is the lower rate and the increase takes place the next day or so and you buy the label then. I would assume you (we) would pay the higher price. Maybe takes the eBay label system a little longer to adjust to the new rates?

Re: Getting Overcharged (again) on Expedited Lite Labels

I just made a sale on an item that is going to France, and I was pleasently surprised to see that the International (non-US) tracked service from CP is actually quite a good deal, right now, compared to what it used to be.

And before someone remind me, I know that I was here in December, swearing that I would never come back to use CP services, after the strike. Well, here I am, eating my words...LOL. These deals are hard to pass up.

No, the rates for packages will increase later this year. Only lettermail was affected by the recent price hike.

The overcharges were for $4.50 and $11 something. Clearly CP is claiming they exceeded the expedited lite sizes or weights, but they didn't. I just wanted to see if anyone else is noticing any of these charges.

Out of curiosity, what was the approximate weight and what did it cost?

@flipistics

You should get that crazy error message if item is close to the limits. See it all the time sending oversized bubble mailers because they use length plus width x 2 + height x 2 = XXX. (When I do see that message i am writing my measurements down on on order paper or printing the error message for my records.) Rates can also change when fuel surcharge gets adjusted. Because any audits don't include a complimentary explanation it causes seller confusion when they stumble across these charges.

For US/international shipments label only shows weight. No measurements. If you need to confirm just use the the dot com version. for ebay labels history to view. It shows original weight and measurements entered.

Note: Length shows up second on that eBay page.

Consistency between eBay pages is NOT an eBay strongsuit.

Approx. 0.15 kg. And it was a bit less than $20.

Thanks. I'm planning to open up sales to some more international destinations this year, so I've been trying to compare rates from different places and figure out what makes sense and what doesn't. I'm not sure what size your package was, but for a 7x5x5 box eBay's calculator is suggesting $16.44 and EasyShip is suggesting $15.25.

Much better still than I used to see before. Over $35, with eBay discount.

What is EasyShip like? Never heard of it. I do use NetParcel for larger heavier items, are they similar platforms/discounts?

I got it set up about 2 weeks ago primarily for orders that don't qualify for Expedited Lite or USA Tracked Packet ... and haven't got any orders outside of those since so I can't comment on actually purchasing the label.

Regarding the bad, importing orders is a little clunky in that purchasing labels elsewhere after the orders are imported doesn't mark them as such in EasyShip, but that's a minor issue. You can select and remove them. I did notice that it doesn't like the USA 5+4 zip code format. No clue why, but you probably won't be using that anyway since the prices with eBay's Tracked Packet USA and/or UPS Standard USA are better. It also doesn't correctly import package sizes from eBay.

As for the good, there is a free tier for up to 50 shipments a month. You have access to some additional shipping options that aren't available on eBay, including Sendle, Canpar, DHL, and Purolator.  It seems like EasyShip's Canada Post Expedited rates are usually cheaper than eBay's. The big one is that EasyShip breaks out taxes on the shipping lables, so if you're GST/HST registered you can actually claim the tax.
