in the past few days:
-none of the Canadian tracking numbers i have entered have updated even once, even though all items shipped show delivered on Canada Post's website....on Ebay they all show 'you provided a tracking number', with zero updates
-i tried to add a buyer to my blocked list and keep getting 'that page is not working at the moment' error messages
-i clicked on the 'Payments' section in my seller hub and got an Australian sign in page.......i didn't sign in, just tried again and was taken directly to my payments section without having to sign in
-they cancelled a FVF promotion 6 weeks early recently
Have they just given up?

late evening frustration prompted my post. It was mostly prompted by the Canadian tracking not working again. Last time it didn't work it took over a YEAR to fix it. Now it's not working again and it's worse than before. At least last time it malfunctioned there were some tracking updates, usually towards the beginning of the package's journey. Now there are no tracking updates at all. It is not only unprofessional looking , it can reflect badly on the seller, as it looks like all the seller has done is create a label but not shipped the item.
The catalyst for my posting however was the Australian sign in page when i clicked on the 'Payments' link in Seller Hub. That was truly bizarre.
Now, there are things i don't like about Amazon, as well. Their search engine being number one. It's terrible, way worse than Ebay's. But i have to say, in all the years i have been with Amazon i don't ever recall, even once, encountering a technical glitch. With Ebay it's routine.

I noticed that as well, package to Canada delivered but not updates on eBay. It has occured before, hope that it gets straightened out quicker this time.

A big push by eBay has always been for sellers to ship using a tracked service....even when it wouldn't be cost effective. For the majority of buyers and/or sellers is to check by using the tracking tool from the sale vs going to CP/USPS/etc. In theory the info info should be mirrored fairly closely on those systems. Buyers and sellers can only go by what they are seeing. Throw in the fact that standard consistent scans have gone out the window (mostly due to Covid), parcel volumes and policy decisions beyond our pay grade. Well and good a seller can pay for a tracked service with a signature. Defeats the purpose when that is not taking place totally out of a sellers control. In the end the buyer wants their goods and seller wants to know shipments are arriving. That reliability has mostly gone out the window.

Is the tracking issue present with items shipped with carriers other than Canada Post? If not, I'd say it's more an issue with CPC than it is with eBay Canada.

The tracking problem has been reported for years on ca and com. Usually takes eBay ages to accept the fact. Then on ca we have to play the wait and see game or cross fingers in hopes it will be fixed.
From past history, eBay often has a hard time admitting when something is an issue. Then actually letting everyone know it has been fixed or if they are actually still working on it. Usually we are left to keep testing on our own to find out if something is still broken or has actually been fully resolved. As Canadian sellers all we can do is report the issues. For anyone that has been around here long enough we all know how the eBay Canada enity is not as proactive as maybe they should be when it comes to problems getting fixed in a timely manner. And we are all aware of the stuff that has been reported for years that they refuse to fix. Check out the status page(s) to see that according to eBay everything is always running perfectly when we know that isn't totally true by all the reports on here. If/when there are problems with eBay and postal services not working in harmony, address it properly. Don't act like it isn't an issue. And let the parties concerned know they are working on it.

PS. Can you think of a good reason why they have the tech. issues discussion forum on dot ca but we never see updates from eBay? They have the same forum on dot com and that page gets regular updates. Is the ca page only for venting?

Thanks, @lotzofuniquegoodies. Now, is the tracking issue with items shipped with all carriers or just those going through the postal system?

Perhaps eBay staff pop in every so often to have a look at it? I know that seems far-fetched, but that's the only reason I can think of.

Do the posters on the tech forum ever @ the eBay reps?
Maybe they can't enter if they are not invited, like vampires.

Because sales have mostly fallen off the tracks really hard to tell. Majority of my stuff lately has been USA and followed by Canada. I've had no issues personnally when I compare tracking with eBay but I've seen recurring reports on both ca and com that others have been having problems. When I update anything going small packet air with the UR number and delete the receipt number eBay gives those track fine. They are mostly showing the routine scans. (Only time I have seen delays was when fires were slowing stuff down.) It could be an issue with 1 of the sort points causing issues for a percentage of the sellers.
As for that other issue, eBay staff in the past stated that following up on issues would happen. It lasted briefly then went back to the same..... Zippo for follow up. Keep checking and hope for the best. They also agreed that showing status in the tech forum would happen. That NEVER did. The frustration is the constant recurring "We don't have that info at the moment or thanks for passing it on...great suggest" and then the crickets for follow up or seeing in reality. All you have to do is go back to any of the monthly Q & A's looking for that response and to see if there was follow up. It will be very needle in a haystack to try to find.

As a side, from past UPS experience when their tracking systems were upgraded they had tracking updates all along the way. Recently they have gone more of a station to final station. Nothing in between. Buyers, for the most part just want to know something is moving on schedule. The panic when something stops midstream. From personal experience, initiate a claim and stuff suddenly starts magically moving or getting delivered. Rarely it's not totally MIA. And if you call USPS they can give updates of a shipments actual status...Even UR numbers. Often it's just a "failure/breakdown to communicate" somewhere along the way.
Fedex, although the most expensive has always had the most complete scans/exception scans of the commonly used services. Both Ground and Air. I know there have been tests in the past with container GPS but unsure if that is still happening or just in play for premium services. It was used for the deliveries of the vaccines when they were first released.

Some do, but not all. It's same with on here. Best chance for the person to see who a post is intended to is to tag them. Not everyone comes to the board daily or knows how to tag. On dot com I rarely subscribe to discussions but get an email (gmail) when someone either responds to a discussion or tags me. That doesn't happen on ca. I only see the bell and it goes away once you check 1 discussion for responses. No idea how the app version works or doesn't.
Always wondered about eBay staff clickinga thumbs up to a discussion posts that have questions but then not actually replying. Not really super helpful. I know the discussion boards can drive users "batty" but as for eBay staff...who knows!! Let people vent and it's all good??

Probably would be helpful if the mods tagged whoever responded last to zombie threads. How many times do we ever see follows up from those folks? They came looking for answers and used the post to respond to because it came up in the search results. Best match vs date.

well, all the Canada Post tracking is now showing up on Ebay. Full tracking histories are now being displayed on all the items that have been delivered in the last few days. Better late than never, i guess. So maybe the problem has been fixed.
Coincidence or is someone watching this forum?.... 🙂
Thanks to whomever fixed it.

Mine has shown up today as well. Delivered in the 26th.
