Chinese sellers advertising $100 3 oz items with $8000 shipping. And it's legit? **bleep**? Ebay is becoming a clown show, humiliated by scumbag Chinese scammers.

as others have said - before many times - its either just a typo mistake by their a.i. bots they use to set up listings and tranfer to north amercian market or its as the rcmp have said before money laudrey sceams to get money out of the country --- either way its something ebay should take seriously -- but doesn't they don't care it all money to them

It's stupid, and possibly the result of getting instructions from ancient sources.
At one time, eBay charged fees on sales, but not on shipping.
And smartalec sellers would sell items for 99c with $99 shipping, avoiding the fees.
Those Chinese sellers will get a shock when they are charged eBay fees on the entire $8100 customer payment. Plus sales taxes on goods and services.
Even so, it is likely to be a typo, since $8000 shipping is unlikely for anything short of a Kubota tractor.
Money laundering seems unlikely, since there is no transfer of funds if there are no sales.
And any sales can be seen on the seller's Active Listings page.

I believe at one time a lot of sellers would do that if they were out of stock or didn't want to ship to a particular country for a while. They would jack the shipping cost up rather than take the ad down in order to maintain search engine visibility or something. I imagine it's a lot easier to do that with one click in the shipping profiles rather than some of the alternatives.
