How to re-invoice buyer who now only wants 1 item not 2?

In 15 yrs of selling here I’ve never been asked this before. My buyer put 2 items in her cart and asked me to combine and send her an invoice with discounted shipping, which I did. Now she wants only one of the items and has asked for a new invoice. How do I do that?

if I try to send another invoice won’t it still show both items? Should I tell her to remove one item from her cart and just pay the other one? Will eBay then send her messages to pay the invoice I sent her originally? I’m at a loss here. Don’t want to upset my buyer. Help!

Well, hope this works. I asked her to remove the item she doesn’t want anymore from her cart. Then to just pay for the remaining item. I’m just afraid eBay will send her reminders to pay for the items that I originally invoiced her for.

Hope this is correct!

Did you get it figured out?

If the buyer requested the first invoice through the request total function in the cart,  they are committed to buy both items so even if they can remove one item from the cart, I think that they would still see that they owed for 2 items.

Have you tried cancelling one of the items? I'm not sure if that would work but that's what I would try first.

Well, I hope so. Not able to uncombine an order now or cancel one item, maybe because I sent an invoice already. However, I discovered that on my iPad I was able to cancel the entire order. (For some reason, couldn’t find this on my PC.) I let her know this and she agreed that I should cancel. I told her, that once cancelled, she can just order the one pattern that she wants. Can’t believe that the cart doesn’t let a buyer remove an item if you change your mind. Hopefully, she will still want to buy the one pattern.

A Buyer can remove items from the cart before they commit to paying.

They need to use the Add to cart button (might buy) not the Buy it Now button (will buy).

My buyer is in France, she said she tried to remove but was not able to. She hadn’t paid yet.

But they did ‘commit’ to paying as soon as they used the request total button.  If they didn’t request a total they could easily change what was in the cart.   Once they do request total the items are reserved for them and no one else can buy them.

At this point in time, it may be easiest for you to cancel their order. Have them accept cancellation. And then you can relist for them to re-purchase. You will be out a few cents in fees. Up to you if you choose to recoup.

I did find out how to cancel the order with buyers permission. Received an email that my fvf would be refunded and eBay sent an email to my buyer letting her know that the items had been cancelled. Now my buyer has been able to purchase the one item she wants.
