A buyer asked me to combine 2 sets of glasses (with 2 different prices) in to one shipment and when she got them she was unhappy with one set. She returned both sets but today said that she was forced to return them both even though one set was fine.
The total combined price for the 2 sets was the actual listing price of each - there had been no adjustment.
Wouldn't it be possible to just enter the amount of the one set to send it back for refund? Shipping cost refund wasn't an issue as the glasses were properly described, they were just smaller than she wanted. So she was responsible for the cost of shipping them back.

In some situations buyers may be able to buy it now and then click on 'commit to buy' and then go on to look at other items but this seems to be less available these days. In some cases it isn't availble because the seller requires immediate payment and in other cases ebay is the one who has added immediate payment. You'll find the immediate payment button on the listing form under payments.
Items can always be put in a cart but if you have immediate payment required checked off, the items are on sale or one of the items has free shipping, they won't be able to request an invoice. But if ebay was the one who set up immediate payment on that listing, the buyer should still be able to request an invoice.
You aren't refunded fees if you do a partial discount.

I haven't ever run into that situation but I know that if the items are in the same listing that items can't be returned separately so perhaps the same is true when items from different listings are shipped together.
The buyer could send the return back outside of the return and you could do a partial refund when you got it back but you would be out your fees.
tyler@ebay Is it possible to send one item back when 2 items from different listings are shipped together?

Thank you!
I would have liked to have the buyer purchase both sets separately and wait for an invoice but it seems to me that this is not possible. ie They have to pay for both with full shipping and then I have to refund - there is no option for them to put the 2 orders in a cart.
Is it because I have instant payment required? But if I change that am I not at the mercy of people who "buy" and then don't pay? Is it just a matter of which one works better the majority of time?
Also, I could not find where that information is held about my account (instant payment required) can anybody tell me where to find it now?
Do I get my fees refunded if I send a partial refund for shipping?
In the past I have lowered the price on one of the items (via adding an obo) to account for the combined shipping but I see that will open a separate can of worms if there is an issue.

Thank you!
Changing the payment policy for individual listings when needed should be the perfect solution.
I really appreciate the clear answers!
Happy days are here again.
