I figured out why I haven't been selling anything. I don't show up on the searches.

I had come to the board as I came across 2 sellers who were selling CD's like me and had 1/2 of what I had listed and were selling double what I was.  I compared a lot of what they were doing and I wasn't.  They had a 2 day handling, I changed mine to 2 from 3.  Up to 5:30 today one had sold 15 CD's and I hadn't sold any.

What they don't do: use item specifics, one uses BO and of the 218 he sold 78 were due to BO; don't require immediate payment. provide less info about the CD and less TOS.

It still didn't make sense so I went to ebay without logging in and guess what.  Although my CD is priced lower, they completely leave it off the search when you search for lowest price unless I go to search all results, it then shows up.  No wonder I am not getting any sales.

Remember this is search for lowest price.  It goes from 2 CD's auction to the higher priced CD's.  There are 185 listings and they only show 107 unless you click to view all results.

Without viewing all results only 107/185 showWithout viewing all results only 107/185 show

with view all results there is my listingwith view all results there is my listing

@musicyouneed

don't know why I pay for a store if they are not going to show my items.

The reasons for Stores (and I've had Stores even before they were in Search) are lower listing fees, Vacation settings, and lower FVF (in some categories).

You can list 250 FP items for the same cost as 120 without a Store (50 Free plus 70 @ 35c each).

And then you can list another 250 on dotCOM at no more cost.

There is an allowance on both sites for Auctions but those are unimportant to most sellers.

Putting a Store On Vacation without having to pay relisting fees a week or two later is a nice bonus. And being able to leave them visible but not purchasable seems to make some sellers happy, although I think that's a good way to frustrate a buyer.

The dotCOM part might be a perk for dotCA or an oversight by eBay, but let's take advantage while we can.

What Stores don't do is give any further prominence to our listings. As I mentioned I had a Store when they only appeared in a Search if there were fewer than 10 similar items for sale on the site, so I may be overly sanguine about that.

When you get to 1,000,000 you can cash them in for a dollar off your seller fees. 🙂

Kidding. Not true!!!

Thank you for pointing this out!!!

I know for a fact that faulty searches have been affecting my sales. I know this because I've had difficulty searching as a buyer, myself! Search is defaulting categories (at least on my app) - and not searching all categories. This is a new problem with the most recent version of the app, I think. When I'm not careful when I search, the defaulted category is searched, and i have to "go up the search tree" 3-4 levels to get back to all categories. I KNOW other buyers are doing this! They're missing items I have listed cheaper in a different category!!!

Can we have someone from Ebay comment on this, please?

Thanks boys and girls! Unfortunately my thermostat died last night when I got home. I had to phone a furnace company to come out and fix it today. I'll need the heat by the weekend. Winnipeg is going to get cold in the next few days... yikes!

It isn't specific to the app and is a deliberate search change ebay has implemented. This goes back directly to the current executive groupthink: ebay has too many listings, customers don't know what they are looking for so we are going to patent and rebrand generic search and algorithm tweaks as "AI" so more buzzwords can be thrown during quarterly earnings calls as the next level of innovation in product surfacing. It's a predicative model where they think they know what the customer is looking for based on a number of inputs. Just wait until it gets rebranded as Ebay AssIstant and SRHTF.

This is so infuriating!

So now when I list some things, I have to see what Ebay defaults to when I search with certain keywords, to determine if I need to modify my category to get more hits (or simply ACCURATE hits). This seems to be mainly an issue with clothing and toys.

Somehow I see this as a dirty ploy for Ebay to sell more categories in listings! If we could choose multiples for free, I wouldn't be so mad about it!
