I put my store on vacation and checked "Keep people from buying your fixed price listings while you're on vacation. Your auction style listings will still run as scheduled.".
My items are still showing the "Add to Cart" button, I thought that option would hide the button? How does that option "Keep people from buying if the the "Add to Cart" button is still there?
Thanks

For some reason, there are two options.
The one you chose and the one that hides your listings entirely.
I'm unclear why both exist, since you'd think if someone was unavailable to tend their listings they would also be unable to ship promptly.
Aaaaand--- The Hide Listings option seems to have disappeared!
What the actual?
@happy_pigeon Have I missed something? With screenshots please.

The "Hide Listings" option is what I was looking for because I don't want to have to worry about someone buying something and it affects my feedback because I'm away.
You'd think this would be easy like:
- Do you want your listings visible and allow customers to buy?
- Do you want your listings visible but do not allow customers to buy? (add to cart button disabled)
- Do you want to end your listings?
Thanks

This is what I see.

If you click the Add To Cart button you get a message that the seller is away and the item was not added to the cart. I didn't test the buy button but I'd assume it has the same behaviour.

Put both my stores on vacation last night. The large, red, friendly message to my buyers telling them when I will be reopening my Store doesn’t appear anymore, just a small, hard to see, generic message way at the top. Also, on my eBay app it says I am away and there will be a delay in processing an order!
On both stores I have clicked on the box to “keep people from buying”, just as I always do. The app however does tell you that you are unable to purchase if you try to buy something. Way to confuse buyers! And sellers for that matter.

I can't test my own stuff, but without signing in it took me to the shopping cart and I can see the "Proceed to Checkout" button but I'm not sure what would happen from there.
Looks like I may have to manually end them? Geeeez!!

Last time I used the vacation function the wording was the same ...it didn't mention the word hide..but my listings couldn't be purchased and eventually they were hidden. It looks like they've changed something though because your listings are still not hidden.
Buyers still cannot purchase your fixed price listings. People will still be able to bid on your auctions while you are away. Perhaps you got a different message because you weren't signed in when you added that item to your cart but I got similar messages when I tried to add one of your items to my cart or clicked on buy it now.

OK great. Thanks for testing and your feedback.
I had to end each auction individually - it would not allow me to end them all at once - sigh!!. I do hope my fixed listings don't become available to purchase when I'm away. eBay changes things that makes me nervous sometimes.

But you saw the listing?
That's what I'm having trouble accepting.
I want to be invisible when I am not selling. I don't want to put temptation in my customer's way and then pull it away shouting "Nyah Nyah Nyah. You can't have it. Sucks to be you!''
Those of us who do some minimal branding don't want to be identified as rooster-tantalizers.

Yes, at that time I did see listings for her and msmaggie but they are hidden now so it must just take longer than it used to.
