I thought I'd start a new thread just so I only have to put this in one place....
I had an inkling when I read Tyler's response to @hlmacdon that the link might work for me now. Unfortunately I remain very concerned that those pesky "US" warnings would come to fruition and it is a catastrophic problem for me if it starts dropping items as the GTC roll over.
So I went to the payments tab on .CA and initiated the registration process.
It looks like it worked.
It did require me to include identification information. If I clicked that I didn't want to include my SIN so I had to put in either Drivers license or Passport. I put in drivers license and note, DONT put in the "-"s it wont accept them.
It also choked on my address. I live in a wee village and as a result I have both a PO Box number and my street address. It would not accept the box number. Both parts are on my bank accounts address, time will tell if that is a problem.
Once I fixed both those up, it gave me options to direct link to my bank account (I'm a TD guy) and I securely logged in and was able to select which bank account I wanted to use. It appears to have worked, I got an email advising that I authorized a PAD agreement. (So theoretically it is ok with the address without the PO Box as it is with the bank).
So far there is no micro withdrawal, I'd be surprised if it is necessary since I was logged in as me when it connected the account. I'll keep an eye out for it.
I picked CAD currency. At some point I'll have to switch my billing to be $C.
It did not ask me about the frequency of payments. Subsequent skimming makes it look like I'll get asked that after I get my first sale under MP.
So that's where it is at. I will update as I have further news.

I think it did not ask me about the frequency of payments either when I signed up. I was able to choose it once my registration was completely accepted though.
06-14-2021 06:22 PM
Yep I went into payments and was able to change it to weekly now.
I've also relisted manually an ended item and it relisted fine as an MP managed item.

Hmmm I'm off to a negative start, I run lots of 2 category items which cost me an extra 5c plus 1c tax US which translates into 8c C$ (I think we don't see the rounding anymore but I'll know more later).
So I'm already at -$1.04 (which is 13 x 8c after conversion, so that part is the total of the rounded numbers, each transaction is about a third of a cent rounded up so if it was overall rounding the number should be about 4c less).
I'm assuming it will bill the bank account once a day, I hope it doesn't for each of the 8c'ers. It will be interesting to see if the actual billed amount incorporates the actual number or the rounded up numbers.
Of course if I sell something that will look after it, however each week it will repeat between the time the weekly payment goes out and the next sale happens.

My registration is pending activation, but those pesky US warnings are now gone when using the listing form. For what it is worth the rep I spoke with when asking a question mentioned the resictions are something they'll be enforcing for those users that don't complete the registration by the required date. I got the feeling from how they were talking that it is more of a manual stick to prod users into compliance. They indicated that as long as you had submitted your registration no actions would occur. If anything weird pops up after my deadline date of tomorrow I'll post back.

Oh yes that reminds me I forgot to put that update in, yes I no longer get the warning messages when relisting either.

If you've very many of those little 0.08 transactions all the time, your monthly invoice (now transaction list) must be awfully lengthy. You'll be paying the full 0.01 tax on every one of those transactions ... at least it'll be returned eventually ...
06-14-2021 09:42 PM
Hopefully you don't have a connected bank account that charges fees per withdrawal transaction or this will add up fast. You can't count on getting a sale everytime these fees are due to be charged. I am assuming before the fees were added to your monthly invoice, right? As far as I am concerned a monthly fee transaction was a much better way to do it. No checking through numerous different dates on your bank statement for fee charges and trying to figure them out. On the monthly invoice they were at least all laid in one place.
Sigh, one more thing which seems to be making this easier for eBay rather than the seller as their promotion for it sounds like.

Thanks for posting this. Sounds like I am going to one of those who is going to feel the wrath of the prodding stick then! I have had a bit of a rebellious streak in me since I was a kid so am somewhat used to that!

WHEW, your post reminded me they were changing something to do with my bank account and I had no idea how many transactions I was allowed. I checked this AM and I'm good that way (unlimited now).
Overall my ebay account is in the -$4.36 territory now. Piles of 8c 2nd category fees and the promoted listing fee for a promoted item that sold.
I was worried that it was going to be charging me a zillion 8c transactions until the sales cleared so I called in to my CSRs.
Here is stuff I've learned:
-it pools the insertion fees, and promoted listing fees, and if you don't sell enough during the course of the month to cover them it will bill one amount (the balance owing) at monthend. In my case I've got a couple sales already so it will pull them off that when they clear tomorrow.
-I changed my primary and backup payment methods right after I signed up but as it told when I did them they won't show up for up to 48 hours after I set them up (it still shows the old ones).

The first sale yesterday cleared to the point it counted, so my account balance is now in the land of positive!
I'm getting more/different email messages than I did before MP.
I have to adjust my shipping processes to incorporate the new emails and locations of things like addresses I got addicted to the PAYPAL payment emails because if I folded them in the right place the address fit in a business envelope window....the ebay stuff doesn't have them in the right place, or the things that do have bad country names like AUS for Australia the phone number after it etc.
It will take me a bit to perfect the new procedures, same as the last time there were some significant changes.
I remain joyous that I avoided problems with my hoard of grandfathered items, that is what was making me sweat.
I won't know until next tuesday if the bank hookup works because I picked weekly.

Hmm oddly this morning I got one PAYPAL payment for an auction item that sold last night. The others were under MP must have been a glitch that didn't convert it.....
Addendum, I just realize that bid for that item happened BEFORE I converted to MP......so that will be why it stuck with PAYPAL.

It also choked on my address. I live in a wee village and as a result I have both a PO Box number and my street address. It would not accept the box number. Both parts are on my bank accounts address, time will tell if that is a problem.
I also have this problem..... It seems there are a few "master lists" for addresses in Canada and depending on which one the organization uses, my street address is either accepted or refused, completely. eBay uses the latter one it seems as I had to put my address as "GD" (General Delivery). I'm fairly used to this unfortunately.....

Not a glitch.
Auctions that were started before the switch will have their payment handled by PayPal, but the fees will be collected through MP. Auctions started after the switch will be handled entirely by MP.
Fixed Price listings are switched over immediately and handled by MP.
Refunds for items sold before MP will be handled through PayPal.

Wow as I've survived my first "new shipping processes" day, I've still got some adjusting to do.
(ps for those who become bored before the end of this note half the reason I'm doing this is to help me think through my process, writing stuff helps me think through/remember stuff)
I never really noticed how much my process depended on the PAYPAL payment notice.
The biggest benefit I'm losing going forward is that it was an automagic check, I'd have two emails from two companies for the same transaction. Some days the eBay ones were MIA, some days the PAYPAL ones were MIA but I don't remember both being MIA at the same time.
Anyway now I've got problems because:
-the ebay messages are not for a "transaction" they are for an item, so if someone buys 6 items, I get 6 sold emails, if they buy 1 I get one. Traditionally the PAYPAL email looked after it because I only got the one payment message for all the items paid for together.
I was printing the ebay message to include in the non-Canadian orders but given they're one offs, they're no good, and they don't show the taxes for the IST type transactions, so now I'm printing the "Packing slip" that is the same gathering style as the PAYPAL receipts.
I used to be able for many buyers to fold the paypal payment the right way for it to fit into a window envelope. The packing slips are printed ok, but for some unknown reason the formatter of the packing slip chose to use some conglomeration of short form letters for the country instead of the country name as it is in the address, so they're no good for "stuffing" in most cases. tyler@ebay not sure of the reason but for those of us who like to stuff them it would be nice to have the real country name here.
I'm also going to have to figure out how to make sure I don't "lose" anyone's transaction, if I count the "packing slips" that number should match the number in the "manage orders awaiting shipment" section of myebay. I need to have an up-front way to catch a missed transaction otherwise I'm catching it too late in the day to get it to the PO most days.
There mostly boring stuff for you guys but helpful for me.

One of the things I definitely miss is the 2 emails pre MP...one for each item sold and one for payment(s). I could file if I wanted to but I had that choice. Kinda like the glove doesn't fit and OJ.... If the payment is in Pending you must ship. Repeat.
Since enrolling in MP it's been a combined email if a customer purchases something and pays right away. It's 2 emails if there is a delay. The one time I had a customer purchase 2 items I got a sold email for both items. Customer paid for each item separately (because they didn't know they could combine or were unable to request a revised invoice..Best offers) and 2 emails for the payments.
For this concern consistency would be nice. An email for the purchase and another for the payment. It's very easy to see that first email and think a customer has paid when maybe they haven't yet or maybe have changed their mind. Why it is always best to confirm your PayOuts sections to see if funds are in pending.
Another thing to remember with the past system you could see any note the buyer attached with their payment email. With MP it only shows up attached to the transaction in Sellers hub.

PS 1. Combined packing slips can be a whole other can of worms depending on the situation.
PS 2. Someone else spotted the fact that when you go to print address labels from sellers hub the shippers name the font is larger than the consignee. Maybe should be reversed.
PS 3. Packing slip in Sellers Hub/Shippo is definitely much more detailed that what it is available with eBay Labels. For shipping internationally(many countries) when a PS is required pricing should include the extented price, shipping, taxes/Vat/Vat # where applicable with a final total along with Ph/email Information eBay labels omits.

First bug.
At the time I signed up for MP it had a problem with my address because I had both a street number and a PO box (in the Banks address for my account). I had to take off the Box number to progress.
After I registered for MP I:
-changed my primary payment method to the same bank account
-changed my backup payment method to PAYPAL
After I did that:
-something told me it would take up to 48 hours for things to be completed
-PAYPAL showed as primary (which was the case before MP)
-NONE showed as secondary
I tried today to fix it. I decided till things are working and I know the bank account will actually work to leave PAYPAL as the primary and make the bank account as secondary. So I updated the backup payment method with the bank account.
The result:
Primary payment method NONE
Backup payment method NONE
Called CSR to let them know that trying to change the backup was zapping the primary which they've reported.
I was able to put PAYPAL back in as the primary again now till whatever gets figured out.
As a side note I've gotten 3 PAD notifications now and ZERO 1c or whatever deposits into the bank account in the last 4 days so this strengthens my expectation that the bank hookup isn't working, but in any case, changing the backup shouldn't zap the primary.
I picked weekly payments so I won't know until the 22nd when the next "drop" happens. I was expecting banking hookup problems so I saved up some $$$ in PAYPALland to tide me through if this happened, which appears to have been a good decision.
Even if the drop happens correctly, that process took me right into my bank account so really there's no reason why it shouldn't work. The manual primary/backup addition only lets me put in the PAD information it isn't a sign in process like it was with MP. I'm tempted to stick the PO Box number back in for the PAD manual attempt to see if that works or not.
06-17-2021 03:37 PM
So, If i get the jist of it, MP is still Not working correctly then.
06-17-2021 03:53 PM
Hi!
The only certain problem at this point is that, I at least, cannot change my backup payment method, trying to do that zaps the primary, and I cannot try adding a bank account, or at least mine.
I suspect the bank account is not working but I do not have direct evidence of that yet.
I'll see if the deposit works on the 22nd, I think that will work because of the way it was connected.
I might try manually connecting the bank account with the box number manually as a payment method in a day or two since I'm only so much a patient guy.
The selling, fees, accululating of money and most importantly non-loss or need to fix my almost 2,000 grandfathered items are all going ok, so far it is not nearly as bad as I expected. I did expect banking problems, hopefully they aren't too great.
I'm switching to a general comment now:
Just incase, for anyone reading this, I created and am updating this thread so folks know what is going on, at least for me, incase it helps with their transition.
Whether or not I went onto MP has never been a question, as with the last 22 years, as long as eBay remains my strongest source of sales, I'm in for the long haul. If that changes, I've always maintained a few secondary venues, as any prudent business would, and my time is spent where there is the most returns. As the other long haulers will attest, we've seen a number of "end of the world" situations over the years (some worse on some other sites!) they all take revisions and adjustments to manage through them depending on how one decides to do so.
Anyway I'll keep adding stuff as I have any useful news....
06-17-2021 04:22 PM
Have you tried to update things using your eBay account settings vs Payout settings? There are definitely more options within that Ebay settings page.
