It is probably good that the views we see are actual views, however, makes me want to give up selling. April / May low sales, now low views. Definately not going to buy any more inventory. Will have to reconsider what I am selling now, prices, description, etc.
What about you?

initially, i didn't lke this change but now i see its value. I have listings with scads of views accumulated over the years. To now see those same listings have had only 1 or as many as 50 in the last 30 days is useful. It highlites which listings i may want to rework, rethink or even remove. I can see it being a bit deflating to sellers, but it's better to know what's going on than just be 'hoping for the best'.
It is ironic that some listings will have 0 views but still have watchers and even sales. Those watchers/sales coming from before 30 days ago, of course or from watchers that finally bought but don't count as a new view in the last 30 days. It is wierd looking though. 🙂

I will say that this new view style has been an eye opener for me especially for auctions.
Generally I sell some slow to move items in some slower categories, with the auctions traditionally getting like 5 views at best over the 7 days.
Generally now they're all at ZERO, so this tells me a couple things, the kind of stuff that doesn't make sense to auction because it takes the right kind of buyer to come by, which can take a fair bit of time, OR items I need to be careful about the title wordings because ones that "should" have had viewers haven't because I did not do a good job of picking the right words. (Ones I know have the right words so to speak have the normal number of views).
So it will be useful as I figure out what the real messages are behind the very low to no views listings......

Well now that I have had a few days with the new system, I think I like it. It gives me a good idea of how many people are looking or not looking. Sales have not really been affected. A majority of the CD's I sell are obscure and not something that is in hot demand, plus CD's are not for everyone. I may feel differently down the road. I don't really care how many people look but what I care about is whether they buy or not and knowing that they actually clicked on my listing is a good thing. I just have to sell it to them when they look.

There were sellers getting sales with no views displaying. Houston. We have a problem!!

I would suspect that there may be a drag on posting "real" views, which might lead to item selling although they had "no views".

Post 1 from eBay eBay Community team. Too bad these types of eBay official announcements don't apper on ca.
During this transition, your listing experience could be temporarily impacted, as well as the visibility of your listings. You may notice some item specifics changing names, listings moved to different categories, or some listings temporarily not appearing in searches.
I've had another seller mention that there are reports on Facebook about issues with drops in sales and sellers being advised it was caused by eBay technical issues. Possibly all of this tied together (Item specifics/Category changes/view counts) are what is causing many sellers from having a sudden drop off the cliff in sales.

Correction: Announcement is on dot ca. Post is not open to comments.

Hi @b86fiero! I was advised that nothing about these category changes will affect visibility, best match, or anything of the like.

Confused by your response above ^^^
Your OP states "though some effects to listings' visibility in searches may continue up to three weeks."
Your response states "nothing about these category changes will affect visibility ....."
Please kindly clarify. Thank you.

Hi @lotzofuniquegoodies! It won't affect things in the long run but for this short period of time while things are changing it could.
It looks like most have figured out what is going on with the bids and watchers differing from the page views as well, but just to add to what's already been said, the new page views is a rolling 30-day look back, so it's possible things were being watched prior to that 30-day timeframe.
There can also be a delay as to when the page view count updates. So a bid could come through, and that be seen, before the page view happens to update. The update typically happens within 15 minutes or less though. If you're regularly seeing longer than that, please let us know.
Lastly, someone could click to watch an item from the app without actually clicking into the listing, and that would give you a watcher but not a page view.
