Not worth it at all!!!

So I came back to eBay after an absence. I sold and item and wasn't paid for it. When I contacted eBay they said they have a different policy. I had to wait now due to no revert feedback despite having 236 positive before. It said I would have to wait until March 23rd for my payout. Well U xallex and was told a lie. I was told once positive feedback is received I would get my payout. Well no, I got the feedback buyer has the item and me, nothing. I had to pay out if pocket to ship it!!! So I am told this huge company is still holding my payout until March 23rd
Since when do we shop like this??? There is mo reason to hold it. Buyer has the item abd is happy. Only one conclusion. EBay us keeping money for an extra month abd earning interest on it. They don't care about any smal sellers. They don't care at all. This is a huge screw over. DON'T USE EBAY ANYMORE.

Re: Not worth it at all!!!

Sorry, you were mis-guided and were unaware of eBay's changes..

When returning to eBay(and/or any selling site for that matter) after a lengthy absence, it is in your best interests to read up and know what changes may have taken place during your absence.  ALL sellers must keep themselves up-to-date and well-informed so that there are no surprises...

ALL sellers returning to eBay after a lengthy absence will have listing and selling limits and payouts withheld for up to 3 weeks ( and even after successful delivery) to insure eBay is satisfied that all is good.

Telling others "DON'T USE EBAY ANYMORE ", based on your  returning experience because you did not re-acquaint yourself with the changes, serves no purpose.

Accept, adapt, adjust and carry on ...Selling on eBay is doable for those who are willing to make it work for them...

Successful Selling on eBay is doable provided sellers are willing to put in the time and effort to do so but it does take time and this thing called P-A-T-I-E-N-C-E!!

Re: Not worth it at all!!!

As a note you don't mention when the positive feedback was left, in my own experience (holds for other reasons) the funds were released about 3 days after the feedback was left/showed as delivered as opposed to the original official date.

It appears this isn't always the case but if you're within the 3 days, there is hope for it to come sooner yet!

Re: Not worth it at all!!!

OP's feedback received indicates in the past month(specific date not indicated), but the one sold item ended February 20th...

One must also remember this is the first feedback in 5 years, so most likely no sales on eBay for 5 years, which will factor into the release of the payout...

Re: Not worth it at all!!!

I was lied to by an employee. The forst person that called told me I would get my money as soon as the positive feedback k and receipt of item. You say learn and move on. Sooo I can't complain about a giant ompany that should have paid me according to their own policy holding a measly amount of money for o er 3 weeks. Yea no, that is unslacceptable. Also if the first agent had given me correct information the initial reaction then none of these posts would have happened. Also warning others of a potential glitch with a bit of hyperbole is not unheard of

Re: Not worth it at all!!!

True and I had no problem with this. It is the way it has been handled and also any company holding a completed transaction for over 3 weeks is ridiculous

Re: Not worth it at all!!!

It is your priviledge to complain all you want...till H-E-L-L freezes over, if you so wish...but does it make up for the fact that you did not re-acquaint yourself with rules, policies., fees, eBay announcements, etc, etc. BEFORE listing items?....

After 5 year absence did you really think NOTHING would have changed?

"warning" others is self-satisfaction, so here's hoping you feel warm and fuzzy all over for shouting out that warning...

When all is said and done, it is still your responsibility to read up on any changes, updates to any site on which you choose to list items...

Re: Not worth it at all!!!

@james1_2to4 "So I came back to eBay after an absence. I sold and(sic) item and wasn't paid for it."

If you are a returning member who has not used the site in over a year, you are considered a "New" member...

"When I contacted eBay they said they have a different policy."

As a Member, YOU are responsible for keeping up to speed with eBay policy, as announced...

"I had to wait now due to no revert(sic) feedback despite having 236 positive(sic) before."

Irrelevant, as your account has been inactive for a long time (as mentioned by @mrdutch1001 )

"It said I would have to wait until March 23rd for my payout. Well U xallex(sic) and was told a lie. I was told once positive feedback is received I would get my payout. Well no, I got the feedback buyer has the item and me, nothing."

Additionally, we may place a transaction hold on funds depending on your seller status, changes to your account status, or other factors we use to help ensure a safe marketplace in all categories, regardless of whether the transaction is covered by our eBay Money Back Guarantee or not:

  • New or infrequent sellers will experience transaction holds while learning best selling practices. This helps sellers become established and build a strong selling history on eBay. New sellers typically experience holds for up to 14 days, although sometimes it may be longer.

"I had to pay out if(sic) pocket to ship it!!!"

No, your Buyer paid, and you will get your money when you get paid...

You have registered for Managed Payments, right?

https://www.ebay.ca/help/selling/getting-paid/registering-seller?id=4792

"So I am told this huge company is still holding my payout until March 23rd

"Since when do we shop like this???"

You are NOT Shopping, you are SELLING, huge difference...

"There is mo(sic) reason to hold it. Buyer has the item abd(sic) is happy."

There are MANY reasons, most of which are documented in eBay policy for Sellers when you do not read them...

"Only one conclusion. EBay us keeping money for an extra month abd(sic) earning interest on it."\

No, they cannot do that, they are not a bank...

"They don't care about any smal(sic) sellers."

"They don't care at all."

"This is a huge screw over."

It's not their responsibility to care, but it is your responsibility to stay informed, and updated about the site you use to sell stuff...

DON'T USE EBAY ANYMORE.

Re: Not worth it at all!!!

Never phone. The phone clerks are poorly trained, unreliable and while I have been specifically told by an eBay blue that they work for eBay, I strongly suspect they are paid by a sub-contractor who is paid by eBay.

Go with the social media Chats which are manned by eBay's direct employees.

https://www.facebook.com/eBayForBusiness/ — Message button in upper right on landing page.

New and returning sellers have their customer payments Held against their performance for 30 days. I see nothing that says feedback has anything to do with this. Feedback is voluntary and has not been used to assess member accounts for years.

You can use the Held funds to buy shipping labels. EBay has arranged discounts on such purchases. You will need a Canada Post Solutions for Small Business account for this.

https://www.canadapost-postescanada.ca/cpc/en/business/small-business.page?

And you do have to ship when the customer has paid, not when the payment is released from the  Hold.

Have you set up a Managed Payments account?
I don't know why eBay even allows sellers to list before they have a registered and usable account, but you have that Hold period to set it up.

You will need a checking account in a Canadian bank, and some secondary identification. I used my passport, DH used his driving license.

If you don't have a Managed Payments account, eBay is unable to transfer your funds.

While you're here, you will be charged fees on that whole payment, including shipping and the buyer's sales tax payment, and you will also be paying sales taxes on your eBay fees. May as well learn that now.
