Sending offers on watched products - can see if watcher is US buyer or Canadian / International

Wondering if anybody has experience with this, I noticed on computer when sending offers, I can see the shipping cost. Since I. have different flat shipping cost set for Canada / US / International, it seems I can see if the watcher is US or not becuse I see different flat shipping cost when sending the offer.

I don't know what would be in the case there are multiple mixed region watchers, US / Canada, what shipping cost would be shown.

If there is one watcher shown, it seems the shipping costs shown reflects the region where they are from.

On mobile device app, however, it doesn't work, it always shows same regio, whatver region is setup in my app settings.

Anybody observed this whose account is on Ebay.COM?

This is useful for Canadian sellers listing on Ebay.COM site and I am unable to disable US shipping since it is the primary country. (I don't want to move to Ebay.CA yet)

I've noticed I can see the shipping cost, but I've also noticed it seems to usually be the Canadian shipping cost. (I haven't been paying close attention until you brought this up, but I just thought it would show shipping to my location).

I will have to pay more attention to see if other shipping costs are showing up. This is for sending offers on the dot com site.

You got me curious so I picked about 15 items to try and send offers on... the Canadian shipping cost came up on each one.

Since the buyer pays shipping and since the cost of shipping is not part of the Best Offer, this information might be interesting but is not useful.

It is possible to set your Shipping to a flat rate for Canada but use Calculated for USA and Overseas.

Or vice versa.

But only if you are listing on dotCA. On dotCOM we must use Flat Rates.

However, we can set multiple Flat Rates even within the International category.

From a sellers perspective knowing the where of a buyer can be very important. If a buyer sends you an offer you are able to check their location, past feedback left (looking for concerns or anything to trigger ones spidey senses.) I've had countries blocked and had buyers have items in their watch list. Sent an offer which they excepted. At that point discovered they were somewhere I prefer not to ship The system doesn't screen for blocked countries so it can work as a bypass the system. If the buyer did complete purchase they would have to message for an invoice.

The other thing currently in play are the countries that should have intl tracked attached to the listing but that service is MIA when seller goes to create a label. ^^^^Norway...Israel^^^^. This leaves seller in a bind because they now need to ship outside of ebay at a loss based on what customer paid.

Setting to flat rate in most cases is not an option. Too many variables in play. (Floating fuel surcharges, rate increases). This would be defeating the purpose of having calculated shipping in place. As it is eBay has done enough to make calculated/combined shipping challenging to say it as politely as possible.

I use flat rates for US, Canada and Europe depending on weight. Actually it's more difficult to set flat rates for Canada.

Canada remote territories shipping can be quite high, like reserves that are reached by air only. I had some orders, I remember during pandemic, I was shipping a desktop printer and the shipping cost was 380 dollars by Canada Post. I cancelled the order. Sorry.

Size mostly doesn't matter unless the dimensional weight comes into play like if I was shipping lamp shades in a box.

I agree about rates to isolated communities.

When we have Free Package Shipping in Octobers with our Solutions for Small Business account, I try to use at least one for blankets to Territorial women's shelters.
I goofed once and ended up paying about $85 for a label. At least someone was warm that winter. (And that was Iqaluit with three flights a week from Ottawa.)

For the far north and anything considered an airstage location you can still use the prepaid CP boxes if your item will fit up to 5 kg. Will fit being the big disclaimer. Unfortunately Expedited lite is reserved for only a few places like Yellowknife when it comes to far north at last check.

Unfortunately eliminating locations(if they wanted to) in the Canadian CP network is not an option Canadian sellers have. Canadian sellers can only remove PO boxes. US sellers can remove PO, AK/HI, Air Force/Army  Bases and Protectorates.

The Purolator Flat Rate Boxes might also be an option for remote locations. They're more generous in size. I'm not 100% sure they ship to remote areas with them, but I *think* they might.

Purolator offers flat-rate boxes as a convenient shipping option, with prices starting as low as $15 for in-province shipments and $20 for nationwide shipments. While the boxes themselves may be free when filled at a Purolator facility, a fee may apply if you take the box home to fill it. You can purchase flat-rate boxes or order shipping supplies through Purolator's online portal or by contacting customer service.

To purchase Purolator flat-rate boxes or other shipping supplies:
  1. Log in or register: Visit the Purolator website and either log in to your existing account or register for a new one.
  2. Select "Order Shipping Supplies": Once logged in, navigate to the section for ordering shipping supplies.
  3. Choose your desired boxes: Select the flat-rate boxes or other packaging materials you need.
  4. Add to cart and checkout: Add your selections to your cart and proceed with checkout.
  5. Alternatively, contact customer service: You can also reach out to Purolator customer service at 1 888 SHIP-123 (1 888 744-7123) or via Live Chat to order supplies.
Important Notes:
  • In-person purchase:
You can also purchase flat-rate boxes in person at a Purolator Shipping Centre.

  • Potential fees:
Be aware that a fee (e.g., $4) may apply if you take a flat-rate box home to fill it, as opposed to filling it at the Purolator facility.

  • Delivery:
Purolator offers various delivery options, including Purolator Express (next business day) and Purolator Ground (5 business days).

    Re: Remote Locations
Purolator flat rate boxes can generally be used for remote locations in Canada, but it's important to confirm that the specific destination is within Purolator's service area and doesn't incur extra charges due to its remoteness. While Purolator can deliver to many remote locations, some very remote areas might require additional arrangements or a different service, like Canada Post
    • Extra Charges:
Purolator might charge extra for deliveries to remote locations that are not directly serviced.
